Extended Summary
Having arrested the man who broke into Hugo’s boat-shed, Angelo’s hopeful that he’s made real progress with the asylum seekers case. When Nicole ID’s the guy as the man who chased her and Geoff on the island months ago, and who bragged about killing people, Angelo’s excitement increases. But they can’t break the guy who steadfastly remains silent. The key breakthrough occurs when Charlie reveals that forensics have matched the prisoner’s fingerprints to the log book and to the one found on the piece of paper discovered in Bambang’s toy. The pieces to the puzzle finally seem to be coming together, but Angelo’s still troubled. It seems too convenient that only the day after Hugo identifies the person in the identikit sketch as the man who assaulted him – they catch him down at the wharf. Is it all just too pat? Or is Angelo worried about nothing?
Miles has been rudderless since Kirsty lost the baby and left town with Ollie. Leah has noticed how “down” he seems and tries to talk to him about it and get him to open up. Miles is initially resistant, but when he does finally chat to her he totally rejects Leah’s advice to go to the city and track Kirsty down. Kirsty told Miles not to try to contact her in her final letter to him and as far as Miles is concerned – that’s that. Nicole also tries to get him to open up, but she doesn’t get very far with Miles either. Leah does however manage to offer Miles some support and comfort.
Nicole’s seems to be getting along well with Liam and despite her HSC exams looming she seems in a good place. Aden, however, is a thorn in her side. He doesn’t like her being with Liam and he and Nicole are barely speaking. Liam only recently had some of the electric wiring at the music shop replaced and he’s annoyed to find that he’s still having problems. He has the electricians in again, but their verdict is dire. They believe that the whole place needs to be rewired. Believing they are trying to rip him off, Liam looks for a second opinion and gets it from Martha. The news isn’t good. Not only does she agree with the earlier assessment, but she also believes that it’s unsafe for anybody to be living or working in the place until the job’s done. Liam can’t afford to have the rewiring done, and now finds himself homeless. Nicole tries to talk to Aden about the problem, but he won’t listen to her. Annoyed, Nicole makes a decision without consulting him, and moves Liam into her place. Like it or not, Aden has a new flatmate.
