Martha makes a difficult decision. Can casual work for Charlie and Roman? Ric follows his heart, but is it too late?

Extended Summary

Jack is devastated that he is not the father of Martha’s baby, but is trying to focus on the most important thing in his life… Martha. He is clinging to the hope that Roman, being the father of Martha’s baby, will be able to persuade her to terminate the pregnancy. Martha would then be able to begin chemotherapy; giving herself the best chance of survival. But Roman is still reeling with the shock that he is the baby’s father. Roman quickly finds himself torn between Jack and Martha, but eventually says he’ll stand by whatever decision Martha makes. Jack, distraught that the possibility of losing Martha, Jack believes Roman is being selfish and only supporting Martha so that he won’t lose his child. Overcome with emotion and helplessness, Jack bursts in on Roman and Charlie and tells Roman that if Martha dies, it will be on Roman’s head.

With Roman now consumed with yet another drama, Charlie feels sidelined once again. She asks Roman if he wants anything more from her than a listening ear and is gutted when Roman says he can’t offer anything more than a casual relationship at the moment. However, seeing that her only choice is to take him up on his offer or not see him at all, she decides Roman is too important to her and reluctantly agrees. But we can’t help but think that someone is going to get hurt.

Alf is worried that Ric has made a mistake he’ll regret for the rest of his life in not following Matilda to Perth. Much to Ric’s surprise, Alf fires him from the Bait Shop and gives him severance pay of a one-way ticket to Perth. Ric’s head is spinning as Alf tells him that he needs to follow his heart. With his flight leaving that night, he rushes around to say goodbye to everyone and before he knows it he is knocking on the door of Matilda’s bedroom, ready to give her a big surprise…

Matilda, meanwhile, has decided it’s time to get over Ric and try dating her admiring Residential Advisor, Nathan. When she wakes up to a knock at the door, she is totally shocked to find Ric. Although thrilled to see him, there is something she doesn’t want him to see in her room. As Ric pushes open the door, he’s faced with his worst fear… another boy (Nathan) in Matilda’s bed. Angry and humiliated, he leaves before Matilda has a chance to explain. Is it too late for these ex-lovers to reunite?
