Extended Summary

Martin fills the fridge with Coke and booze when Lance arrives back with crisps and snacks for the housewarming party. They then wonder how they are going to get around Tom complaining about the noise. They think about inviting him to the party. Martin then has a brainwave and they go down to see Tom at the house. They present him with a meal and night out that they’ve booked him to celebrate the birth of the baby. Tom is taken aback, but eventually accepts the gift and thanks the boys.

Lance and Martin then go up to talk to Carly and Bobby about the party. Bobby and Carly say they won’t be there because they are going to Alan’s wake. Lance sees the teddy Alan left for Bobby and they start lobbing it around the room. Carly castigates them and gets them to leave, whilst an upset Bobby sits on the floor and cuddles the bear.

Alf comes round to see if Barbara needs any help with the wake. He gives Barbara an envelope which contains an invite to Christopher’s naming ceremony. Alf wonders who the godmother is, but Barbara is none the wiser. Barbara wonders if Tom and Pippa will mind her not attending since she’s planning to leave. She gets Alf to move the furniture.

Alyce and Narelle are in the shop. Steven walks in and over to Narelle. Narelle puts on an act to make Steven look good in front of Narelle and when Steven cottons on, he asks Alyce and she says yes. Lance and Martin come in to see who’s going to there housewarming, but everyone is going to the wake.

Bobby comes round to Celia’s to see whether Barbara and Alf need any help planning the wake. When Barbara leaves the room, Alf asks Bobby to make sure that the wake gets a good attendance since it is important to Barbara. Bobby then goes around to see Lance and Martin and asks them to cancel their party so that everyone can go to Alan’s. Lance and Martin don’t budge and Bobby lets off steam down at the house. When she runs upstairs, Carly has a brainwave and she and Steven run out the house.

Alf is moping around after his recent break-up and explains to Roo that he’s not going to go to the wake since Alan wanted the party to be a happy occasion and he would bring the mood down. Roo says that Ailsa is probably having a good time at the moment and that he should too. Later Roo phones Morag saying how she wants to keep Ailsa and Alf apart.

Carly and Steven show Bobby their plan to get everyone to avoid Lance and Martin’s party. No one’s turned up yet, and Tom comes to say good bye. As he drives out the park he drives past a sign saying “Party cancelled. See you at Alan’s Wake”.

After Roo’s talk, Alf decides to go the wake. At the wake, the party is going off well, with Bobby and Frank getting on well much to Roo’s digust. Steven has finally got his date with Alyce. Martin goes out into the caravan park and notices the sign and walks off. Lance wonders where Martin has got to and ends up drinking alone. At the wake, Martin has a go at Bobby for sabotaging his and Lance’s party. Back at Lance’s caravan, Lance lies asleep on the couch when Rhonda walks in wondering where the party has gone.

Alf leaves the party and goes home. He picks up a photo of Ailsa and starts crying. Back at the party, Frank talks to Bobby about her and Alan’s relationship. Narelle tells Roo that Bobby and Frank will get together, wait you see!
