Extended Summary
Cash is going for a run along the beach. As he heads up to the grass, he runs into Eden, who notes he’ll miss the sea air soon. Cash tells her that they want him at his new posting tomorrow, since the town has been without a police officer for a week, and he’s said yes. Eden awkwardly suggests a coffee before he goes, eventually saying that she’ll be at work today and he can come and see her there.
At the farm house, Levi tells Abigail he’ll be leaving soon and getting out of their way. Abigail admits that she’s been thinking about what he said about Eden. Tim turns up and Levi promises him he’ll be going soon. He asks if Tim caught up with Eden last night and how she was. Tim looks awkward but eventually says that she’s a strong woman.
Leah and Justin greet Cash at the Diner as he comes in for a takeaway breakfast. Cash explains that he’s leaving tomorrow for a permanent transfer out to the country. He doesn’t know anyone there but he’ll be two hours closer to Gary. Justin tells him that he’ll be missed and Leah says breakfast is on the house and she’ll throw in something special.
At the caravan park house, Alf arrives with his bag and answers when Marilyn calls out. She comes hurrying in, noting she wasn’t expecting him back, and asks about Martha before offering him a tea and saying it’s good to have him back. Alf accepts but seems rather muted. Back at the Diner, Leah tells Justin that she doesn’t think Cash leaving is a good idea, since he’ll be isolated. Justin points out he’s surrounded by memories of Felicity. Leah thinks he’s leaving everyone that cares about him. Justin suggests he can always come back.
At the farm house, Abigail struggles for something to say. Tim notes she said Levi had given her a new perspective on Eden. Abigail says she’s been behaving like a brat which Tim jokes isn’t a psychological turn. Abigail says that writing it all down has made her realises she’s been harsher towards Eden than Levi even though Eden was the wrong who stayed. She notes she and Levi are both studious and Eden’s different, although she can’t give examples. Tim suggests they go for a walk.
Levi tracks Eden down at Salt, where she’s lost in thought, and says he would have checked up on her yesterday but had to keep an eye on Abby. Eden admits she’s not thought much about the therapy session, telling him about Cash leaving. She doesn’t think Cash should be on his own when he’s grieving but doesn’t get a say anymore. Levi thinks she should tell Cash how she feels. They see Cash approaching and Levi makes himself scarce. Cash suggests they have that coffee now.
At the Diner, Leah and Justin comment on being joined at the hip since the honeymoon. They are pleased when Alf arrives with Marilyn, noting Marilyn didn’t say he was coming. Marilyn pointedly says she didn’t know. Alf is glad Leah and Justin are on the same page now. He sits down at a table but looks pensive.
Cash and Eden are making stilted small talk on the balcony at Salt. Eden asks what will happen to the house and Cash says Tane is taking over the lease. Eden seems to be on the verge of saying something, then just comments that Cash always wanted to be a country copper and Gary will be proud of him. Cash says Gary can’t help being proud. Eden accepts it’s what he wants.
Abigail and Tim are going for a walk on the beach. Tim asks about what Abigail wrote in the journal. Abigail says she’s been thinking about how Eden felt and thinks she wasn’t being controlling but protective. Tim notes Levi seems to be doing his job for him. He asks if she could talk to Eden but Abigail doesn’t feel comfortable doing that. Tim sugests writing a letter instead.
Eden and Cash walk back into the main part of Salt and Eden notes this is goodbye. She says she’s going to miss him and Cash says he’ll miss her too. After he’s gone, Eden breaks down in tears and Levi hugs her. At the Diner, Leah and Justin are telling Alf about the renewal ceremony and how John wasn’t happy about it being last minute. Marilyn asks if Alf wants anything else and he says he’s going to go home and sleep. Marilyn tells Leah and Justin that something doesn’t seem right with him but Justin thinks he just needs to settle in. Meanwhile, Alf arrives home and sits at the table, looking haunted.
Levi approaches Cash, who is standing by the beach, and asks him what he’s doing to Eden. He says he’d like to tell him to stay away from her but he knows it’s not what either of them wants, saying that if Cash really thought there was nothing for him there, he’d be at home packing, not staring out to sea. Meanwhile, Marilyn arrives home with some food on her break and comments on Alf being sat there instead of sleeping. Alf claims he was going to finish the crossword and Marilyn quickly notices he hasn’t started it. She asks if he’s all right and he admits he doesn’t know.
Abigail and Tim arrive back at the farm house. Levi comments they seem to be having fun and Abigail says Tim’s off the clock now. She asks about Eden. Levi says she’s at work but they had a coffee. He doesn’t think it’s the right time for Abigail to go and clear the air. Tim says his goodbyes, telling Abby he’ll call her about her next appointment. Meanwhile, Cash is doing his packing when he stumbles upon Eden’s engagement ring.
Tim arrives at Salt and tells Eden that Levi said she was having a hard time but didn’t ask him to check up on her this time. Eden notes she’s done with work and Tim offers to walk her home. At the Newman house, Cash puts the ring down and retrieves his phone, finding Eden’s contact details. Across the road, Eden shows Tim to her house, explaining she shares it with her two band mates. They get beers and don’t notice a call from Cash coming through on silent. Tim asks if she wants to talk and she says no. Oblivious to the missed call, they kiss.
