Extended Summary

Cash and Rose run into each other by the surf club, just after Rose has got a text from Xander suggesting they meet on the beach. Rose asks why Cash lied to Jasmine about where he spent the night but told Felicity. Cash says he didn’t want to drop it on Jasmine during a family emergency. Xander comes along and Rose quickly ends the conversation. Cash asks if they’re okay and she says they are. Xander asks Rose what’s going on and knows she didn’t come home last night. Rose says she and Cash spent the night together. Heading down to the beach, Rose explains about Cash drinking. Xander reminds her he hardly ever drinks. She explains about getting kicked out of Salt and spending the night in the car, which Cash is now keeping secret from Jasmine. Xander wonders why Rose was the one he called.

Dean joins Mackenzie in the flat and says the real estate people won’t budge. Mackenzie protests that she had no warning, then remembers there were some letters addressed to Dean, explaining she gave up opening bills she couldn’t pay. Dean says they should have called him if they didn’t get a response. Down in the Diner, Irene tells Marilyn there’s good news. Marilyn jokingly asks if she’s won the lotto and is sharing it with her. Irene says they got a response to the handyman advert and one of them seems promising. Marilyn sees Mackenzie and says she heard Logan was gone. Mackenzie explains about him going back to the army without telling her.

Mackenzie goes back to Dean, who says the landlord wants all the back rent and a further two weeks to stay on. He was also unhappy about Dean subletting to Mackenzie, who notes she should have put the lease in her name. She suggests she might soon have a place to stay in prison. Dean says she has until the end of the weeks to move out. Mackenzie just wants it over with. Dean gets some boxes to pack and they realise most of the stuff was there before either of them moved in. Mackenzie wonders about storage, before lamenting that she broke the law, Tane was stabbed and a man’s dead. Dean replies that she confessed, got Felicity off the hook and is trying to make it right.

At the Diner, Irene advises Cash to keep hydrating for the hangover and they discuss Jasmine being away. Rose and Xander come in. Rose tries to slip away on seeing Cash but Irene stops them and suggests they come to dinner. Rose claims they have plans but Irene gets Cash, who has been exchanging awkward looks with Kirsty throughout, to back her up. Rose dashes off and Xander follows her. Upstairs, Dean finds some shirts of Logan’s. Mackenzie doesn’t know what to do with them so he says he’ll get rid. He asks when she’s meeting her lawyer and she admits she didn’t hear anything after possible prison time was mentioned. Dean wants to arrange something but she turns the music on instead.

Irene wonders about Rose’s reaction. Cash plays innocent but hastily stops Irene calling Jasmine, saying he and Rose see each other all the time at work so they could use some breathing space. Irene says she’ll wait until he thinks it’s a good idea before inviting them again. Marilyn comes in, fielding phone calls for both the bait shop and caravan park, and has to grab a pen to note down a potential booking. She turns down food since she doesn’t have time. Not too far away, Xander chases after Rose, who has ignored a call from Cash. She reminds him of what he said about Cash, and he realises she has feelings for him. He gives her a hug.

Dean and Mackenzie have finished the packing. Mackenzie asks for a lift to the motel but Dean insists she come and stay with them: He’s already called Ziggy. Mackenzie thanks him and turns the music off, having a last look around before leaving. Down in the Diner, Marilyn admits to Irene that she’s never been this tired. Irene says the handyman, Tex, is on his way. Mackenzie arrives to pick up an order. Marilyn mentions seeing her moving boxes and she explains she’s moving out and gives Irene the keys for the real estate guy.

Rose and Xander have gone for a drink at Salt. She insists there’s nothing to worry about: She’s felt like this ever since she met Cash and isn’t going to act on it. Xander encourages her to sort it out but she refuses to talk about it. While she’s getting a menu, Xander calls Cash at the Diner and suggests he come and meet them. Cash agrees. Nearby, Irene is chatting to Tex and gets a flustered Marilyn to join them, doing the introductions.

Dean and Mackenzie arrive at the farm house and he gets a text saying Ziggy’s on the way. Mackenzie says she should have brought beer. Dean says they’ve got beer: He lives there. He says they’ll call her lawyer in the morning. At the Diner, Tex explains to Irene that he’s a chippie but between gigs: He’s travelling and living off cash-in-hand jobs. Marilyn rejoins them and says Alf has agreed to employing Tex, a bit more readily than she hoped. She shows Tex her large file of notes.

Xander points out to Rose that it’ll be awkward with Cash at work. Rose rejects a call from Jasmine. Cash turns up and Rose realises Xander called him. Xander leaves them to talk. Cash asks what happened earlier. Rose asks why he called her last night. Cash says she’s a friend and asks what else it would be. There’s an awkward silence and Rose says she’ll go. Cash says he’s sorry if he gave her the idea that something’s going on.
