Extended Summary

Roo is sitting with Alf as Marilyn brings him a drink of water. Roo tries to warn him about working too hard, wanting him to see a doctor, but Alf insists he just stood up too quickly and heads back to work. Back at the Morgan house, Justin tries to shrug off the extra medication as being for the trip, saying he wouldn’t be able to get any at the vineyard. Leah protests that it’s over the top and suspects he didn’t want to fly because his bags would be checked. Justin sharply says that Leah wanted him to get on top of his medication and asks if she trusts him. When Leah doesn’t answer, he walks out.

Tane is in his room, clad only in a towel. Ziggy comes in from work, noting that she’d have liked to watch him mow the lawn. She’s given herself a lunch break since she thinks Justin’s on the way to Victoria but decides to skip lunch as they kiss. Meanwhile, John meets with Stephen at the surf club. Stephen says he looked into hiring a private investigator himself but couldn’t afford it. He presents John with a list of three names he came up with, saying his preference would be the last one. Alf turns up and John says there’s a pile of paperwork for him, which gets a snappy response.

Leah arrives back at the Diner. Irene comments they weren’t expecting to see her back and Marilyn confirms she has changed her flight and accommodation. Leah admits things aren’t all right and heads into the kitchen in tears. Irene follows and Leah tells her about finding Justin’s stash of medication, saying he’s not himself at the minute. Meanwhile, Alf runs into Justin at the surf club and learns the wedding’s off. Alf asks about putting the Polaris in for a service and Justin retorts that he doesn’t have time at the moment. Ziggy and Tane arrive and Justin is increasingly short in response to questions about him being there.

Ziggy follows Justin from the surf club, wondering what’s going on. Justin says the wedding’s off for now, then wonders why she isn’t at work. Ziggy says she’s on top of all the jobs and chose to take her break. Justin isn’t happy about her going to the gym during work hours, despite her saying she redirected the garage phone to her mobile and they shut for lunch all the time. He tells her to get back to work. Inside the surf club, Tane comments on the amount of work Alf’s doing and apologises for Nikau leaving him in the lurch at the bait shop. He suggests he could help out instead, even if it’s only part-time. Ziggy comes back in and says she has to get back to work. Tane says he might too.

Leah apologises to Irene and Marilyn for unloading. John and Stephen arrive and explain why Stephen’s there, also learning about the wedding being postponed. They take a table to talk over the candidates. Outside, Roo finds Alf surrounded by boxes. He says they’re a delivery and he’s got it covered. Roo finds out why a moment later when Tane emerges from the bait shop to take some more of the order in. Alf goes to answer the phone. Roo notes they need someone long term but Tane says he’s happy to help out while looking for other work.

John and Stephen are attempting to make a decision about the PI but Leah is showing little interest. John says they’ll go for the cheapest and leaves to make some calls. Stephen checks Leah’s okay and suggests they go for a walk. Irene and Marilyn watch them leave. As they walk on the beach, Leah tells Stephen that Justin had a lot of health problems last year and then Susie turned up. Stephen says he thought his marriage was solid but it broke down because he spent too long licking his wounds. He urges her not to give up on Justin.

Leah heads home to find Justin and asks to talk. They exchange apologies, with Justin trying to brush the pills off as a misunderstanding. Leah says it feels like she’s losing him, with him up and down all the time, and that he went through the same thing with Brody. Justin is disgusted that she thinks he’s a junkie and vehemently denies being addicted. He throws the pills into the sink, flushing them down the plug hole. Leah walks out. Meanwhile, John comes back into the Diner, telling Irene and Stephen he’s hired the PI, Sam Jones. Leah comes back and tells Stephen she could use a drink.

The two of them retire to Salt where it is mentioned John hired Stephen’s first choice as PI. Leah goes to get more drinks and runs into Ziggy at the bar. Ziggy asks if Justin’s coming in and comments on his mood. She asks if something’s going on and Leah says there is but doesn’t give any details, just asking her to keep the garage running. She goes back to Stephen. At the Morgan house, Justin has unscrewed the pipe and pours out excess water, searching for pills, but apparently comes up empty-handed.

Ziggy and Tane are relaxing at the farm house. Tane has lit a candle in an attempt at an Italian restaurant vibe but Ziggy is distracted by the situation with Justin. She’s worried about him and also doesn’t know where she stands with running the garage while he’s still in town. She doesn’t know if he’s going to turn up tomorrow and actually hopes he isn’t if he’s going to be in a bad mood. Next morning, Justin is standing in a park area, looking up buying medication online on his phone. Ziggy comes along and asks after him. Justin accuses her of going behind his back to Leah, as well as going to the gym during working hours, and tells her she’s fired.
