Extended Summary

In the now largely deserted Salt, Mackenzie is trying to get Chloe to get off the sofa and admit she made up seeing the rat but Chloe is sticking to her guns. Alf and Roo arrive and Mackenzie insists only Chloe saw the rat, with Ryder awkwardly supporting her. Ryder hastily clears Chloe out. Alf notes it’s Mackenzie’s word against Chloe’s but suggests she investigates anyway just to be safe. Mackenzie wearily agrees. Outside, Chloe is restarting the food truck although Ryder is beginning to think they’ve gone too far. Alf and Roo come over and Alf says that if they have made the rat up, now’s the time to come clean, because Mackenzie’s had to close her business. They stick with their story.

At the hospital, Tori is on the phone to Marilyn, thanking her for looking after Grace. Jasmine notes Christian is setting up for a procedure and Tori says she arranged cover for him. Jasmine says it’s an unusual procedure but Tori explains what he said about thinking he was meant to do it and notes she’s humoured him up to now but he’s going to devastated if Rachel doesn’t make it. Jasmine takes her for a coffee, saying she’s arranged for a nurse to call them if there’s any change. In the treatment room, Rachel’s head is now surrounded by a metal frame as Christian makes the preparations, chatting to her as he gives her a local anaesthetic.

Later, Tori approaches Christian as he checks Rachel’s scan. He is hoping she won’t need surgery. Tori guesses he’s going to stay there tonight to keep an eye on Rachel and accepts it’s too late to leave now. She suggests they leave first thing in the morning but Christian says he can’t make any promises until he knows Rachel’s out of the woods. Rachel is brought through on her way to ICU. Meanwhile, Leah searches the house for Tori, wondering what’s happened to her and Christian. Justin, taking his new pills, shows no interest, so Leah goes outside to call Tori. Justin takes the new pill packets and retrieves three others (one that looks the same and two that look different) from his room, placing them in his travel bag in separate plastic bags. He then looks up medication on domestic flights on the laptop and learns there’s a limit to how much he can take and he’d need to produce a prescription for them.

Tori joins Christian in Rachel’s room, bringing him a coffee. She wonders if he’s contacted Rachel’s next of kin. Christian doesn’t know of anyone except the friends she mentioned. Rachel wakes up and Christian checks her responses, getting her to squeeze his hands and wriggle her toes. He steps out of the room with Tori and tells her she should head home. Back at the Morgan house, Leah has just finished checking on Grace. Justin says that he thinks they should get a refund on their flight and travel down by car after all, saying he can handle the pain now he’s got the new medication. Tori arrives back and says she and Christian are going to travel down tomorrow. Justin, without consulting Leah, says they’ll drive down in convoy.

Ryder and Chloe are at the Parata house eating their leftover stock. Ryder is feeling bad about what they did but Chloe says Mac can’t tell them what to do and she’s sick of being bullied. Ryder says this makes them the bullies. He doesn’t seem entirely convinced by Chloe telling him to think of the money they made. Next morning, Justin is running around trying to find his car keys while Leah asks Tori when Christian’s turning up. Justin sharply refuses when Leah offers to check his bag for the keys. Christian arrives and Tori starts babbling about needing to be off but Christian tells her he can’t go: It might be days before they know whether or not Rachel needs surgery so they need to postpone the wedding. Justin is furious, smashing a plate onto the floor. Leah looks shocked and Christian leaves. Justin continues to rant after him and Leah tells him to stop as she comforts Tori.

Alf and Roo are waiting on the beach as Ryder and Chloe approach, noting Ryder stayed away from home to stop them cracking him. Ryder tries to dodge past them, saying he needs breakfast, and Chloe says she’s dying for a coffee, prompting Roo to drag her into the Diner and leave Alf and Ryder alone. Alf tells Ryder that Mackenzie had to close down for half a day and fork out for an inspection which confirmed there was no rat. Ryder admits Chloe made it up and Alf says he needs to come clean. They see Mackenzie going down to the Diner. Inside, Chloe is keeping up the front with Roo as Alf and Ryder enter. Chloe dashes over too late to stop Ryder blurting out the truth to Mackenzie and saying they’ll cover the cost of the pest inspection. Mackenzie says it’s $300 which Chloe protests is their takings from yesterday. Mackenzie calls it karma and says they got off lightly. Chloe insists they’re not going anywhere.

Leah is clearing up the broken plate as Justin apologises to Tori for losing it. Tori wonders how she’s going to tell everyone, noting she has things to postpone and has to tell guests. Justin says he’ll do it and Tori decides to go for a walk. Justin tries to complain about Christian to Leah but she walks away. Meanwhile, Christian finds Tori on the pier and says he’s sorry. Tori asks what he was doing at the skydiving place. Christian says he was on his way to the suit hire but was drawn by the sign. Tori says it could have been his parachute that failed. Christian still believes he was meant to help Rachel but also says he still wants to marry Tori.

Alf and Roo are unknotting a net on the beach, wondering about Ryder being in the dog house. Alf says he needs to fill an order out but when he stands up, he freezes, apparently having some sort of dizzy spell. Roo helps him sit down again. Meanwhile, Justin returns home and knocks on the bedroom door, trying to apologise to Leah. Leah opens the door and reveals she has found the boxes of pills, asking why he needed more when he already had some and why he still has the pills he said weren’t working.
