Extended Summary

Jasmine and Willow are walking on the beach. Willow asks about Jasmine’s plans for her day off and Jasmine says it’s just this, plus paperwork. She knows Lewis has the day off as well but they haven’t arranged anything. He also hasn’t said anything about her taking her wedding ring off. Lewis then approaches and Willow makes herself scarce. Lewis is pleased to see Jasmine since they haven’t had any shifts together lately. Meanwhile, Dean and Amber exit the surf club. Dean is trying to get Amber to change her mind, but when Willow comes along, Amber storms off. Dean explains that she’s leaving. Willow wonders what he did but Dean has no idea.

At the Diner, Alf is being reassured by Marilyn over him missing things with Martha. He gets a text from Roo saying the hospital want to keep Martha in for a full assessment. Marilyn convinces him it’s for the best. Nearby, Justin is telling Leah his plans for decorating their new house. Leah points out they haven’t got it yet and has to talk him out of calling Susie. Justin says he’s going to go to the gym for physio. Leah suspects he hopes to see Susie there. At the gym, Lewis is surprised Jasmine is doing paperwork on her day off. Jasmine asks him to fold some towels but he explains that he gave them both the day off because he has a surprise planned.

At the surf club, Susie has been sorting out the office and draws John’s attention to some invoices that haven’t been sorted. John admits Alf hasn’t signed off on him as signatory yet and Susie argues that Alf’s deliberately stalling. Justin interrupts to ask about the house, wondering if they should offer an extra $5,000. Susie convinces him to wait for news. John approaches Dean and announces that, as the new president, he’s arranging an audit of all surf club businesses. Dean bluntly tells him to get lost. Meanwhile, Willow goes to the flat and finds Amber on the phone, arranging to stay with Francesca. Willow doesn’t think Amber’s given Dean a chance. Amber mentions him going to see Ziggy instead of taking Jai to school. Willow thinks she’s jealous but Amber insists it’s about Dean making promises to Jai and not keeping them.

Jasmine and Lewis are having a picnic near the beach and reminisce about the picnics they had at uni. Back at the Diner flat, Willow reminds Amber that Jai’s having his first day at school with his teachers and friends, asking if he really wants to rip him away from all that. She thinks Amber hasn’t given Dean a chance. Amber asks what happens if nothing changes and Willow says she can make a decision then but has to give Dean more than one day. Amber says she had an image of Dean taking Jai to school but admits she may have overreacted. Willow convinces her to talk to Dean.

John, with Susie trailing behind, approaches Alf at the surf club and asks for his signature. Alf isn’t in the mood but John is insistent, since he’s called Alf several times. Marilyn attempts to intervene while Susie accuses Alf of deliberately sabotaging John. Irritated, Alf signs the papers. John and Susie head back to the surf club. Susie continues to claim Alf hasn’t accepted John’s victory but John is more sympathetic and queries Susie telling him he doesn’t need to have anything to do with Alf, since it’s a small town. Willow comes in and Dean, who has apparently just received a text from Amber, asks if she knows what it’s about. Willow suggests he goes and sees.

Dean turns up at the flat where Amber asks about him going to see Ziggy. Dean reminds her she wanted to keep things simple, which doesn’t mean knowing everything in his life. Amber accepts the point but says she needs to know things won’t impact Jai, who would have liked Dean to take him to school. Dean jokes about synchronising calendars. Later, Amber escorts Dean out of the flat with instructions to make sure Jai doesn’t forget his hat or his home readers (she explains they’re books). Willow comes along and they explain Dean’s picking Jai up from school. Amber tells Dean to be polite to the teacher. As Dean goes, Willow clocks the way Amber’s looking after him and checks she’s not falling for him.

At the Diner, Leah chides Justin for hassling Susie while he dreams of getting a big bed for the new house. Alf comes in and apologises to Marilyn for before. Marilyn thinks John and Susie behaved badly. Alf notes he has to get used to the changes. Marilyn goes to see John and Susie at the surf club, saying John should have taken what Alf’s been through lately into account. Susie says John tried to call Alf and was ignored, so had no choice. Marilyn thinks he showed no compassion and walks away, with John protesting he didn’t mean to hurt Alf. Susie thinks Marilyn needs to be shown she isn’t married to John anymore.

Continuing their picnic, Jasmine and Lewis discuss throwing sickies. Lewis recalls Jasmine pretended to be ill to get out of going to monster trucks with him. Jasmine says she has a better poker face now and Lewis will never know what she’s thinking. Lewis suggests she’s thinking she wants to kiss him. Jasmine denies it…but ends up kissing him anyway. Much later, the two of them go for a walk on the pier. Jasmine waves her wedding ring-less hand in his face and Lewis confirms he noticed it was gone five days ago but didn’t want to make a big thing of it. Jasmine jokes about him having a sensitive side after all.

Leah returns home to be greeted by Justin, who tells her they’re officially home owners: Their offer’s been accepted, although there’s a lot of paperwork first. After a few sips of champagne, he suggests they check they need a new bed. At the surf club, Susie is looking at the surf club accounts on John’s log-in. John returns with an officious-looking envelope that he sorted in Yabbie Creek. He agrees it needs to be done but thinks Marilyn will be upset.

Next morning, Susie is at the Diner. Leah thanks her for her help with the house. Susie goes over to Marilyn and serves her with the envelope before leaving. Marilyn looks inside and tells Leah it’s divorce papers from John.
