Extended Summary

Willow is setting up a boot camp on the beach while dealing with a micro-managing phone call from Jasmine. Ziggy and Tane are walking down to the beach; Ziggy notes Justin has given her the day off, so suggests after their swim they go back to his and have a lie down. Willow coughs pointedly as they kiss. Ziggy suggests that Willow working there is just like old times. Willow says not from where she’s standing. Meanwhile, Amber wakes up to hear Dean and Jai chattering in the main room. They debate how hungry Jai is, eventually settling on hungry enough to eat 101 hippos (although he might burst). Amber joins them and they say they got her breakfast (from the Diner, by the look of it). Amber notes she needs to find somewhere to stay, since Dean can’t sleep on the sofa forever and she gets kicked sharing a bed with Jai. She also notes she needs to find a school for Jai: They were hoping to get him back into his old school with his friends but they need to live in the right area.

Martha is standing outside the house, looking around. Alf joins her and asks about her plans, noting he’d normally be writing his president’s report now. He says there’s a garden bed needs looking at and suggests he and Martha do it together. Marilyn comes out on her way to work. Martha decides to go with her, telling Alf she’ll bring him back some morning tea. The pair are greeted at the Diner by Irene who asks about Alf before suggesting he might go fishing. Martha says she’ll sit outside in the fresh air. Irene goes to join Willow at a nearby table and notes Jasmine’s glad to have her back at the gym. She asks how long Willow’s planning on sticking around for. Willow says she was hoping to clear the air with Bella before going but was mainly there to reunite Dean with Amber and Jai.

Dean is giving Jai a piggyback as they and Amber approach the surf club, saying Jai will soon be big enough to give him one. Amber checks Dean can keep an eye on Jai while she chases rentals and Dean says Jai can be his assistant manager for the day. He goes to put Jai under the shower, only to see Ziggy and Tane approaching. Amber asks if Dean’s okay with that. Dean says he isn’t but there’s nothing he can do, and they head to the beach. Ziggy is similarly shocked to see Amber back and annoyed that Tane had already heard from Bella. They head back to the Parata house, with Tane bemused that Ziggy wanted him to tell her and that she isn’t pleased Dean has Jai back. After checking Tane isn’t going to go after Amber again, Ziggy notes that Amber could take Jai away, causing Dean to go off the rails and end up in a ditch again.

Amber is making a phone call and seems interested in a two bedroom place until she hears the cost. Nearby, Dean is getting Jai to draw a moustache, horns and fangs on one of John’s posters. Amber rejoins them and notes she can’t even get an inspection because of how she left her last rental plus having no job. Dean takes her aside and suggests they both move in with him, in which case there’d be no rent. Shortly after, Amber barrels into the gym and tells Willow what Dean said. Willow wonders if Dean meant into his place or into his bed. Amber notes it’s too much too soon. Willow suggests she goes up to Salt, has a coffee and thinks.

Martha is outside the Diner, looking searchingly around again. She starts to compose a text to Kieran asking where he is, but is interrupted by the arrival of Alf, who cheerily wonders what happened to his morning tea. Martha says Irene was busy so Alf suggests they go in and have a cuppa together. After they’ve done so, Irene and Marilyn come over to their table with a plate of Alf’s favourite cakes. Martha, who seems keen to get away, protests that he’ll never eat them but they point out he’s got time.

Dean and Jai come into the surf club, with Jai discussing the go-kart his friend Josh’s brother made for him and Dean agreeing to make him a red one. Willow comes over and asks to talk to Dean, who sits Jai on the board shop counter and says he’s in charge. Willow asks Dean what he thinks he was doing and if he’s planning to make a move on Amber. Dean says he’s just giving her and Jai a place to stay. Willow queries what Bella will make of it and says he needs to make the deal clear to Amber. Dean asks her to keep an eye on Jai. Upstairs, Tane approaches Amber, saying her private life is affecting his private life. He says Ziggy cares about Dean and tells her how he was in a state after she left before. Amber is somewhat cynical, so Tane just says he’s said what he had to and leaves. Dean enters and wonders what that was about. Amber says nothing.

Later, Dean brings the drinks over and assures Amber that Willow is fine with Jai. He stresses the offer was just to move in and their relationship wouldn’t change. Amber asks where they’d sleep. Dean says Colby’s room is like a shrine and he could put separate beds in there for her and Jai. He also doesn’t think Bella would mind. Meanwhile, at the Parata house, Ziggy is eulogising about pizza. Tane checks that she knows he’s 100% committed to their relationship. Ziggy accepts it and asks if he wants the last slice.

Alf is finishing off his meal at the Diner and comments on Martha not eating anything. Marilyn comes over and asks if Alf wants more tea. Martha shouts no, before saying she needs some water. Irene stops her and asks her in confidence what’s going on. Martha says she misses Kieran, and Alf and Roo are always watching her when she just wants some space. Irene suggests she tell them that. Up in the flat, Amber and Dean ask Jai how he feels about staying there and he responds enthusiastically. Amber says they’ll need to get their stuff. Dean suggests a road trip together to pick it up.

Alf and Martha are walking through the caravan park. Alf suggests doing the crossword together and then having a family dinner with Roo and Ryder when they get back. Martha testily insists he needs to stop planning things, saying she needs to be alone. Alf accepts he likes to fish on his own but asks what she was thinking of. Martha has an idea. Later, Alf is sat outside the house, paying no attention to the crossword in his lap. Marilyn comes home and Alf explains Martha has gone to Yabbie Creek for art supplies, adding that van three is permanently unavailable because she’s using it as an art studio. At that moment, Martha is furtively moving into the van, unpacking not art supplies but men’s clothes and trainers. She leaves a message for Kieran saying she has a place where no-one will see him.
