Extended Summary

Jasmine is running on the beach and sees Justin and Leah handing Grace over to Tori. She jogs over and there is a brief exchange of greetings before Leah and Justin head off. Jasmine suggests Tori is tired after a night shift and Tori says she’ll push through it to spend time with Grace. Jasmine says a night without sleep is as bad as being over the limit and offers to look after Grace while she sleeps but Tori firmly says she’ll do what other mothers do and sleep while Grace is napping. Jasmine wishes her luck in a somewhat barbed manner. She heads to the gym where Willow is working with a client and goes to the office, writing in her notebook about Tori refusing help when exhausted. Willow comes in and notes the journal seems to be a success. Jasmine agrees it’s one of Willow’s best ideas.

Marilyn has prepared breakfast for John but he wants to talk about last night. Marilyn refuses, saying they were both tired. John says he knows what he said and meant it: He doesn’t want her caring for him because she feels obligated. Marilyn says it’s a pointless conversation, since he’s had a stroke and they need to deal with it.

Outside the bait shop, Alf is on the phone to Martha, saying he’d like to be with her but Ryder needs him. Ryder overhears from nearby and approaches Alf, asking about Martha’s opening at the weekend and whether she’d like Alf to be there. Alf says he’d get under Martha’s feet and has things to do in Summer Bay. Ryder heads off to work.

At Salt, Irene chats to Jasmine and Willow about seeing Damian. Ryder chimes in as he serves them that they’re glad to have her back with everything that’s happened. Jasmine tells Irene that Grace was kidnapped. Willow corrects her: Tori’s car was stolen with Grace inside and she was returned within hours. Irene worries about how Tori would have felt. Jasmine thinks she feels guilty for leaving the keys in the ignition and the car door open. Willow clarifies that she went to help John and quickly changes the subject to the Diner break-in. This, and the fact Leah was there, is news to Irene.

Outside the Diner, Leah gets a call from Irene wanting to check on her. Tori asks Justin about Ben and Maggie’s farewell. Justin says it was sad but Ben and Maggie have got the best of it. He mentions how Marilyn said John wasn’t up to it, but when he and Ben went and got him, he was fine. Tori comments on how being a carer can be isolating.

Marilyn comes back into the room to find John hasn’t eaten anything. He calls it a protest: He’s not going to eat anything unless she sits down and talks. He says he knows he’s a burden to her and she’s only there because she thinks he’s weak and helpless. Marilyn snaps and admits she doesn’t love him anymore. John, somewhat downcast, thanks her for finally being honest.

Near the beach, Willow asks Jasmine if they should have told Irene all that at once. Jasmine is focused on picking out a photo of her and Grace for the Mums and Bubs Yoga advert. After she’s headed back inside, Willow notices Marilyn crying on a park bench nearby and goes to check on her. Marilyn says she’s done something awful.

In the gym, Jasmine gleefully adds photos of her and Grace to the advert. Up in Salt, Ryder is on the phone to Martha, saying Roo is keeping him updated about Evan and asking how she’s managing without Alf. Willow brings in a still upset Marilyn and quietly tells Ryder she’s going to call someone that she thinks can help.

At the Diner, Irene gets the phone call and tells Justin and Tori that Willow thinks Marilyn needs her at Salt. Tori gets an alert on her phone and is shocked: It’s the advert with the photo of Jasmine and Grace. She tells Justin that she spoke to Jasmine about it but thought she was the one that was going to be photographed with Grace. Justin says she’s told him to keep his thoughts to himself. Tori invites him to speak and Justin says Jasmine has been full-on and doesn’t know where to draw the line. Tori asks him to mind Grace while she sorts it out.

At Salt, Willow quietly tells Irene that Marilyn won’t even talk. Ryder has been sitting with Marilyn but quickly disappears when Irene approaches, saying he warmed the seat for her. Irene offers to call John but Marilyn says not to. She admits she told John she didn’t love him, not because of an argument but because it’s been building for months.

Ryder meets up with Alf outside the bait shop and says he spoke to Martha and she’s having a great time without him. Clocking Alf’s reaction, he says Martha’s missing him as much as he is her and suggests she needs Alf more than he does. He says it’s important to spend time with people you love and Alf can bore the art types with fishing stories. Alf agrees.

At the surf club, Tori tells Jasmine that she thought she was going to be in the photos with Grace. Jasmine acts surprised, saying Tori gave her permission and she took the photos when she had Grace. She suggests Tori was overtired because Jasmine never mentioned her being in the photos. Willow comes over as Tori asks to have the photos taken down. Jasmine says she thought Robbo would be proud for his daughter to be the face of the gym, before walking away.

Tori returns to the Diner and tells Justin that Jasmine claims she misunderstood. Justin is sceptical and says Tori knows what he thinks before heading off to the garage. Tori looks at the advert again and has flashbacks to Jasmine saying Tori missed Grace saying Mamma, Jasmine questioning Grace being with Marilyn, Justin trying to convince Tori to cut Jasmine off and Jasmine protesting about Justin not trusting her when she looked after Grace.

John is on the phone as Irene and Marilyn arrive back at the Palmer house. He offhandedly welcomes Irene home before saying he’s spoken to his rehab team about organising another carer and arranged patient transport to take him to the hospital. He says he’s going to go and lie down and accepts help from Irene getting back into his wheelchair.

Justin rejoins Tori and Grace at the Diner. Tori says she’s realised she’s been played and asks him to take Grace home. Justin asks if she’s going to talk to Jasmine. Tori thinks Jasmine’s had too many chances: She’s going to talk to Colby and see what her options are.
