Extended Summary

Willow is putting Colby through his exercises near the beach. Dean joins them. Colby notes he’s feeling better now he’s heard from Bella but still suggests that Dean and Ziggy leave him hot water in future. Near the Diner, Irene is accompanying Jasmine and Grace on a walk. She suggests Jasmine come inside with her but Jasmine says Grace is the perfect distraction.

Inside, Irene and Leah fill Marilyn in on what happened. Irene notes Jasmine’s spending time with Grace and Marilyn realises that’s why Tori doesn’t need her. Irene and Leah are slightly worried it might bring things up but Marilyn thinks it will do her good. Gemma arrives for work and is slightly surprised they’re all there: Marilyn says she’s just visiting. Later, Leah serves Justin and arranges to meet him after work. She tells Irene she’s ready to come back to work full-time and offers to help do the roster. Gemma asks Marilyn for the paper and Irene wonders if Marilyn still wants to cut back on shifts to help with Grace; Marilyn says she’ll have to check with Tori. Gemma says she’s happy to take as many as they’ve got. Leah gets a text from Justin. She tells Irene she’ll take the roster home to do it, then arranges to meet Justin there.

In the Diner flat, Ziggy is on the phone to Ben, who has gone away up the coast and apparently only left Maggie a note. She drains the rest of a bottle of milk and puts it back in the fridge as she talks. Colby arrives and Ziggy gives him a quick update on Ben. He finds the empty bottle and Ziggy goes out, leaving a mess. At the surf club, Dean is passing time by building a wall with the board shop supplies. Ziggy arrives and they discuss Ben’s surfing trip. Ziggy still hasn’t spoken to Maggie.

Colby finds Jasmine sitting on a bench with Grace and approaches her, saying he heard about what happened at the ultrasound. Jasmine says she’s coping with Grace’s help, inviting Colby to join them for a walk since Grace isn’t a great conversationist. As they walk, Jasmine recalls how she and Robbo used to go walking with Grace, with both Grace and Robbo liking the routine, and how they would talk about what they would do when Grace was older. She notes now it’s just the two of them. Colby observes his new flatmates aren’t as neat as Robbo was. Seeing Colby wince in pain at his leg, Jasmine decides to take him back to the flat.

In their bedroom at the Morgan house, Leah is dressed in lingerie. She lies down on the bed and practises a greeting, then picks up the folder with the rosters. Justin arrives and quips about the secretary look. He says an old guy was dropping his car off and kept talking. They kiss. Later, the two of them are curled up in bed. Justin says he’s happy to close up work and do this any time and suggests he sell the garage and get a veggie patch and chickens for food. Leah tells him not to mention beehives and he says that he loves her and is glad they’ve got this. Then he mentions beehives.

At the Diner, Marilyn asks Gemma if she needs anything from the shops. She comments on Nikau not having been home much recently and Gemma notes he’s probably hanging out with friends. She says they’ll be moving out soon since she’s nearly saved up enough to rent somewhere with Ari. Marilyn says they don’t have to but Gemma says they can manage on their own. Meanwhile, Colby and Jasmine arrive back at the Diner flat. Jasmine agrees about the mess and leaves Grace with Colby while she gets some painkillers for him. He notes Grace has got heavy and Jasmine says he’s a natural. Colby says if he had kids he’d worry about dropping them. Jasmine says she was the same but Robbo was good with them from the start. She sits on Ziggy’s underwear and notes his flatmates need to be taught a lesson.

Irene and Leah are checking the new roster and call Gemma over. They explain that with Leah coming back to work they can only offer her two shifts a week with the long-standing casuals. Gemma is disappointed but accepts it. A short time later, Marilyn finds her sitting on a bench and she explains her hours have been cut, noting it puts a damper on her plans to get their own place and that she wanted Nikau to have stability. Marilyn tries to convince her to stay longer at hers but Gemma insists that, with Ari working and her looking for something else, they’ll be sorted soon.

At the surf club, Willow chats to Dean and Ziggy about living together, saying Colby told her about them hogging the couch and the hot water and him needing ear plugs at night. Justin comes in and tells Ziggy she only needs one more module to complete her apprenticeship, taking her aside to talk about it. Willow asks Dean about living with Ziggy. Dean notes they just fell into it and is worried about her and Maggie; they haven’t spoken in over a week and he can tell it’s affecting her. Dean, Ziggy and Willow head back to the flat with plans for beer and pizza but find Colby and Jasmine dumping their bags off the balcony. Colby has put all their things, including the mattress, on the beach, saying he thought they might like a night under the stars.

Jasmine and Willow take refuge at the Diner and chat with Irene and Leah. Justin comes to pick up Grace and tells Leah that Tori wants to go out for dinner. Jasmine offers to mind Grace but Justin says there’s no need. He offers to come round to pick up the crib and stuff. Jasmine says there’s no rush and to tell Tori she can mind Grace tomorrow because she has the whole week off. She and Willow decide to go home. Later, Marilyn chats to Irene about Leah coming back to work. She suggests Irene give Gemma her shifts, so she’s free to help Tori and because Gemma needs the work. Gemma overhears, having come in to get dinner, and tells Marilyn she appreciates her help but can look after her family.

Dean and Ziggy carry their stuff back into the flat and promise Colby they’ll tidy up in future. Dean gets himself and Ziggy the last beers from the fridge. Ziggy checks her phone: She has a lot of messages and missed calls from Maggie. Dean tells her to call her but Ziggy retorts that she’s ignoring her. That evening, Dean and Ziggy are in Salt. Dean again encourages her to call Maggie, saying she obviously wants to given how she’s acting about the messages but Ziggy says he’s not family so should stay out of it. She storms downstairs and Dean follows, reminding her she encouraged him to get to know Rick and Mackenzie. Ziggy continues to storm off. Dean sarcastically asks if she’s going to her parents’ and Ziggy tells him not to wait up.
