Extended Summary
Nicole is upset after Liam broke up with her and blames Aden for interfering. She thinks Liam has dumped her for real, but Aden encourages her to believe him – it may just be a break til after her exams. But when she sees him on the beach with two young girls, her jealousy surges and she’s convinced he has ended it to be with other girls. She avoids him when he tries to contact her, unable to handle being around him, and it’s distracting her from her study – she thinks she’s stuffed two exams because she can’t concentrate. Taking Gina’s advice, she tries to eliminate distractions so she can focus on study, telling Liam she wants to be with him, it’s the only way she can focus. Wanting to be with her too, he agrees, upon which Nicole tells Aden she appreciates his intentions, but she wants him to stay out of her relationship from now on.
Ruby is still not sleeping and Charlie’s worried she’s not coping with all the recent stress in her life, and convinces her to talk to a counsellor. Coupled with this is the simmering tension between her and Geoff, but neither are willing to make the first move. When Geoff finds her sleeping heavily and hard to wake, he’s concerned, a moment not helped by Xavier witnessing it, Ruby and Xavier then have a heated conversation, when Ruby is sick. She sends Xavier away, and he assumes that something is going on. Geoff tells Charlie he’s worried about Ruby, and Charlie returns with him to check on Ruby. Charlie and Geoff find her passed out at home and take her to the hospital, where she’s diagnosed with diabetes. The next day, Ruby is trying to get a handle on her illness, with Charlie’s support they will get through it. Running into Charlie, Xavier discovers Ruby’s in hospital. He visits her and confesses that he has known all along Ruby tried to dump him before – he was faking his amnesia.
Alf asks Aden to help out with Martha’s campaign, but Aden confesses he’s probably still voting for John, given the plans for the Marina and how it will help their business. But when Alf tells him John hasn’t been upfront with his plans, that it could potentially cost two licences, and cost his job, Aden is thrown. He tells Geoff of the truth behind John’s plans, and neither are happy about it. Alf gives John a serve when he sees him in the Surf Club, John tries to deny it, but Alf isn’t interested. Then when Aden runs into John he gets stuck into him as well, but this time John is more threatening – he can protect Aden’s licence as easy as he can save it – so Aden needs to be careful. Aden is left with FFT.
