Will Angelo betray Belle to prove his innocence? Charlie’s sick of hiding from Roman. Can Belle get back on her feet again this time?

Extended Summary

Charlie’s decided it’s time she stops avoiding Roman and gets on with her life, but that’s easier said than done, and when the two do come into contact, it’s not quite how she planned. Ruby wants to help, but Charlie insists she doesn’t need help, she just needs to get on with things. Then when Roman approaches Angelo to tell him to stay away from Belle and Aden, and get out of the Surf Club, Charlie jumps to his defence, and takes the opportunity bring up all her own personal issues as well. Roman protests that despite everything, he still cares about her, but Charlie’s not even sure he has the capacity to care, and thinks if he cared, he would have given them a chance to talk through things. She storms off feeling empowered, and Roman is left with food for thought.

Aden is frantic as Belle is rushed into hospital. There are no internal injuries, but she’s very badly beaten. When Irene and Roman arrive, Aden claims that it was Angelo who did this, and though reluctant to leave Belle, heads off to the police station to make a statement. When he sees Angelo at the station, he loses it and Roman has to hold him back.

For his part though, Angelo seems totally bewildered, and genuinely shocked when he hears about Belle. He admits that he and Belle exchanged some heated words, but insists he’d never attack her.

Nevertheless, it doesn’t look good for Angelo, given all the threats he’s made recently in public, and especially when Jack discovers he’s been charged for assault before. And though Angelo points out all the enemies Belle has made of late, he’s suspended from duty until it’s all sorted out.

When Belle is ready, she tells her recollection of events. She remembers Angelo going off at her, and retreating to her room, where she was hit from behind. Halfway through, Angelo barges in, again going ballistic and protesting his innocence. He’s not doing himself any favours, and even Charlie begins to doubt his innocence.

Then Angelo gets a call from Murray. He wants to know if Belle got the photos, and she hasn’t been answering her phone. Suddenly Angelo puts it all together, Murray must have been followed, and whoever hurt Belle was after the photos.

He begs Murray to go to the police, but while he’s too frightened for that, Murray agrees to meet. But when the time comes, it’s Tim who shows up. Tim tells Angelo that Murray’s been taken care of, and that he’s none of Angelo’s concern. What Angelo should be concerned with is the assault charge, and if he helps the developers with what they need, they can help him with what he needs.
