Is Melody ready to return to school? Aden returns to old habits. Mr. Bartlett takes his jealousy a step further.

Extended Summary

After being hassled by other students for his time at the clinic, Aden decides he’d rather not spend the entire day dealing with similar derision. Meanwhile, Nicole’s mother has demanded the return of her car, and with only one day left, she decides they might as well make the best of it. But after a day of hooning, Colleen spots the car parked by the beach.

Roman’s not pleased when he finds out the pair took the day off school. Apart from anything, he’s worried about how Aden will look when at his upcoming court case if he keeps acting up. Nicole’s resentful of the lecture, but Aden takes it to heart, knowing Roman’s right, and decides to keep his head down, at least until his day in court.

As Geoff wasn’t worried enough about Melody being taken out of the clinic by her mother, he now learns that she’s been re-enrolled in Summer Bay High. Her mother thinks what she needs is a return to normal life. Nobody seems willing to listen to Geoff’s worry, until he nearly gets into a fight defending Melody from bullies. When Miles and Kirsty see how fragile and upset she is, they decide that maybe Geoff was right, but Bartlett won’t listen, and he’s especially resentful of what he sees as his secretary telling him how to do his job.

Then, as he prepares to leave, he hears a noise in a classroom, and finds Melody inside, all set up for spending the night, complete with sleeping bag. She begs him to let her stay, school is the only place where she feels safe. Finally seeing just how severe her condition is, he decides he can’t allow her to come back to school until she’s ready, not while it could exacerbate her problems. Christine’s furious at his decision, but there’s nothing she can do. Miles and Kirsty on the other hand are thrilled, until Bartlett gives Kirsty an official warning for telling him how to do his job. Two more and she’s out of a job.
