Still unconscious from his drinking binge, Lucas is rushed to hospital to have his stomach pumped. Although Luc will be okay, Matilda is furious with Tony. However, after some words from Kit, Matilda does manage to forgive Ric for the part he played in Tony’s lies. Mattie, Luc and Kit make it clear they can’t continue living under the same roof as Tony. Dejected, Tony moves out and takes refuge at Irene’s place.
Back at the hospital, the tension between Rachel and Hugh is now bleeding into their professional lives. When Rachel refuses to listen to Hugh’s advice, a patient’s life is put in jeopardy. Hugh skilfully takes control of the situation, and with Rachel’s help, they save the patient. The ordeal reminds them both of the excellent team they make, and it seems their problems are behind them.
Meanwhile, Rachel’s patience with Kim is starting to wear thin over his preoccupation with Kit and the baby. When she discovers Kim is keeping a photo of them in his wallet, she flips out. She tells him she’s sick of taking a backseat to his other family! Still reeling, she turns to Hugh for support, but he seems distant. Confused, Rachel pushes him for an explanation. Hugh finally cracks and tells her the truth – he’s in love with her.
