Extended Summary

The pressure’s getting to Hayley as she tries to drum up the courage to tell Scott about the baby. Zoe’s feeling on cloud nine about her relationship with Kim, which makes Hayley feel awful about the secret she’s carrying. Zoe asks what she was doing at the hospital earlier on and Hayley has to cover. Hayley goes home to Irene and says she’s going to mess up so many lives that maybe it’s better if she doesn’t have the baby at all. Irene cautiously advises her that although it’s her right to abort, she still should tell the guys, and make sure she’s not doing it to avoid responsibility.

Zoe wonders to Kim what’s up with Hayley – she was at the hospital earlier. Kim is worried, he promises to find out. Meanwhile, Zoe says there’s no need for him to go home for the night – he can stay at her van. He’s a happy man. And the next day the two of them are all over each other. This is obviously the start of something strong.

Hyde is late for his dinner with Irene and Irene is annoyed, especially when she finds out he was with Beth! Hyde tries to make it up to her with a new meal. But the next day, Irene finds Hyde having coffee with Beth in the morning. Again she’s annoyed. They’re spending so much time together. Beth is oblivious, but Hyde keeps his concerns to himself.

Hayley sees Colleen with baby Pippa on the beach and has a great experience with the baby. Colleen thinks she’d make a natural mother. It leaves Hayley thoughtful. She tells Irene that she can’t not have the baby. She calls Scott over to the Beach House and reveals the news to Scott. He’s ecstatic – he’d love to have a family. Hayley tries to tell him there’s more to it, but he’s gibbering too much. He even blurts out the news to Kim when he comes back. Kim’s surprised and knows straight away from Hayley’s eyes that it could be his baby.

Irene tells Hyde she’s been feeling a little sidelined since she’s been back, with all the time he’s spending with Hyde. He assures her they’re just being friendly and he will make a concerted effort to make it up to her. When Beth comes in to ask Hyde about helping with Robbie’s 18th birthday, Hyde feels Irene’s glare on him

Hayley and Kim discuss getting a paternity test to determine who the real father is. It will blow their one-night stand wide open and probably ruin Kim’s relationship with Zoe, not to mention Hayley’s. The difference is that Scott and Hayley weren’t together at the time, Zoe and Kim were. Kim goes to tell Zoe and she knows immediately there’s something wrong. Hayley drums up the courage to tell him the full truth and he’s left crushed and reeling.
