***

SALLY’S CAR
Sally is distracted as Colleen talks about her hair, her head feeling empty without the wig. An ambulance overtakes them, sirens on, and pessimistic as ever Colleen decides there has been a road accident. Sally, on the other hand, likes to think someone is having a baby. They reach the accident site, and are shocked to see the wreckage of Hayley’s car.

HOSPITAL
An unconscious Hayley is wheeled in, and a shocked Flynn (who else?) learns of her poor condition and examines her. Brodie, also on strecher, follows shortly after, shouting out for Hayley and hysterically blaming herself. Flynn attempts to calm her down.

DINER
Robbie explains what ‘frittata’ (on the menu) is to Tasha, and Tasha remarks that she has eaten rat.
Meanwhile Alf, leah and Alex look at Beth and Rhys’ wedding photos, with Lah commenting on the dress and how romantically everything was done – secluded beach, close family etc. Alex jokes about what Jesse may think of that style of wedding as Leah goes to answer the phone. Alf then shows the pictures to Robbie and Tasha, and Robbie has to explain to Tasha why Rhys and Beth told them it was a picnic. Robbie has no further news of Kirsty for Alf.
Leah comes off the phone and is the bearer of bad new… there has been an accident…

THE PALACE
Alex races in to drag Noah away to the hospital

HOSPITAL
Flynn tells Sally and Colleen that Brodie’s fine, but Hayley is in theatre. Sally and Colleen were horrified at the state of Hayley’s car. Alex, Irene and Noah arrive in the waiting room, desperate for news and are told of the bleak situation regarding Hayley – there are some head injuries. Colleen helpfully chips in that it’s a miracle that the girls are alive, and Alex is relieved to hear that Brodie will be alright. Irene and Noah are frantic with worry for Hayley, and Flynn assures them that they’re doing all they can.

PATTERSON HOUSE
Jesse and Leah are also panicing about Hayley, and Jesse is blaming Alex for everything. Hayley and Brodie were trying to sort out the mess that Alex has caused. Leah persuades him not to say anything at the hospital.

HOSPITAL
Flynn tells the small group that hayley is out of theatre, but they can’t see her. Alex is the only one wanting to see Brodie, and Flynn asks him to keep it calm.

Alex enters Brodie’s room, and Brodie is distressed at not being allowed to see Hayley. She blames herself for the accident, and is working herself up about the things she was saying to Hayley right before the crash. The crash reminded her of Miles, and despite Alex’s reassurance that Hayley will be fineand “it’s all over”, she is insistent that things AREN’T over for Hayley

Alex rejoins Irene, Noah, Colleen and Sally in the waiting room, telling them that Brodie is still mixed up about how the crash came about. Leah and Jesse arrive, and are given an update on what is happening – Hayley is in the hands of a surgeon, and Brodie will be fine. Jesse is furious at Alex getting off scott-free for his part in it, and demands to know exactly what Alex “said to her” prior to the accident. Leah and Noah are unable to calm him, and after a near threat – “if she dies…”, Jesse departs.

BEACH HOUSE
Things are looking kinda suss as we see the back of the TV, and Robbie’s head briefly bobbing up as he fiddles with something out of sight, Tasha remarking “I’ve never done this before” (or maybe it’s just my warped imagination?). In reality, Robbie and Tasha have an evening in front of the TV with a Robbie-made ‘boarding school snack’ – “sugars, fats, and more sugars”. She doesn’t want to go back into school with the little kids, and Robbie tells her that she won’t be alone… they’re trying to put him back in Yr11, and his teachers wanted him tested for ADD. They reckon there’s too much stuff going on in his head, hence why he “goofs off” in class. he disagrees – in his opinion it’s purely because there’s a;ways something new to distract him. He can’t believe they have one day left of freedom. Tasha has a great idea to celebrate their last night, and he can;t quite work out the fun in going for a run… besides, he doesn;t have his trainers. That’s not a problem though, as Tasha reckons they don’t needs shoes… in fact, they don’t need anything at all… Tasha starts to strip off… as Robbie steers his eyes away, giving an out-of-his-depth smile.

HOSPITAL
Irene cries as she stands at Hayley’s beside, and Flynn arrives, pulling her outside to check that she is alright. Sally volunteers to let Will and Nick know what is going on, and Irene tells Flynn that ‘you can’t protect them just by loving them’… she recalls a time in her youth, when he sister was critically ill, and her father likened her sister to one of the lights used to guide ships in at night – things would be so dark with her not around.

Leah is pestering Alex about what part he played in the Hayley/Brodie mess… because he MUST have said something. All he can do is repeat the ‘I never meant to hurt Hayley but I didn’t want to lose Brodie” lines – he wanted ‘both’ – and he doesn’t know what he would do if everything was taken away from him. Alex makes a swift departure as Jesse returns. Leah tries to convince Jesse of how much her brother is hurting… but his thoughts are with Hayley.

BREAK

HOSPITAL
Flynn talks to Hayley as he plays with the machines at her bedside, telling her of the people she has waiting outside and urging her to hang in there. A nurse brings Brodie to see Hayle, and Flynn explains that there’s no internal damage. Brodie is horrified at the state of Hayley’s face and hysterically calls out that she is sorry before Flynn wheels her away.

Flynn returns to the waiting room, where Irene is desperate to be by Hayley’s side. Flynn tells her that the nurse is seeing Hayley at the minute… but he’ll give her a shout when she can go in. Colleen assures her that Hayley’s in the best hands, but Irene’s troubles are greatened as she realises that Tasha is unsupervised. Colleen is adamant that she can deal with Tasha – her Lance was a hadful after all – and leaves to take care of things at the Beach House.

BEACH HOUSE
Colleen arrives, and is understandably wide-eyed as she walks through the house, finding random pieces of Tasha and Robbie’s clothing strewn about in a trail leading out of the back door.

BUSH
Robbie and Tasha run around stark naked in the dark, laughing, chasing and hiding from one another. The fun and games are brought to a swift end as Tasha sneaks away and Robbie jumps out in front of the cops. He tries to make a run for it, and is pursued.

HOSPITAL
Irene is talking positively to Brodie – of everyone’s relief that she is alright, and that she could be out of there the following day. She is still blaming herself – if she had left when she said she was going, then it wouldn’t have happened. Irene ridicules this – there’s too many “what if’s” to consider in life – it wasn’t her fault. Brodie asks Irene to leave – she needs to sleep.

HOSPITAL
Flynn talks to Sally about the feelings he gets when someone is wheeled into casualty – it never gets better, and when it’s someone you know… Sally tells him he is doing all he can, and he can only hope it’s enough. As Irene returns to see them, Flynn suggests she go home for some sleep, but Irene insists that she is fine
Flynn enters Hayley’s room, where Noah is stressing over Hayley’s condition and the possibility of her giving up. Flynn reassures him, before asking for a favour – for him to take Irene home, as Flynn is worried about HER condition, with it being so soon after her heart trouble. Noah bids Hayley farewell, telling her he’ll be back shortly, and departs, with Flynn assuring him that Hayler’s a fighter… she won’t give up on them.

BEACH HOUSE
Colleen has folded the clothes and she is busy examining the wallet (?) as someone arrives at the door. Throwing the clothes into a corner, she leaps back as Irene and Noah enter. She claims that Robbie and Tasha got up to no mischief – Tasha’s in bed and Robbie has gone home. As Noah is about to head off, there is a knock at the door. As if Irene’s heart hasn’t had enough for one day, Robbie enters flanked by the cops, wearing no more than a blue sheet/towel. He asks after Tasha, as Colleen shifts uneasily…

DINER
Alf and Sally discuss Hayley’s uncertain condition, and when Alf suggests he get a lift to the hospital with her the following day, she reminds him that she’s back at work. She reckons she doesn;t feel like it what with everything happening with hayley, but he comments on the importance of her work as she hanges kids lives – she does a great job. Not good enough, it would seem, as she announces the department’s decision to bring in a new principal. She is adamant that she’s not staying at Summer Bay High – if she can’t get a transfer, she’ll leave teaching.

THE PALACE
Noah arrives home, and removes an old picture of he and Hayley from the fridge. He breaks down as he looks back on their happy times.

HOSPITAL
Helen Poulos arrives at the hospital, having heard of the accident – she asks after Hayley, worrying about how Alex is dealing with things. She tells Sally that both Chris and Theo are at Leah’s, but she couldn’t just sit around. Flynn arrives, surprised to see Helen but tells her Hayley still isn’t awake. Helen rushes off to see Alex before either Flynn or Sally get the chance to warn her…

Helen walks in to discover Alex and BRODIE getting close, and is horrified, unable to understand the development. He explains that he and Hayley broke up, but Helen is disgusted – in her eyes Brodie left Alex heartbroken, and now she’s back to ruin everything. She refuses to listen to Alex and storms out.
