Extended Summary
Ash and Justin have just finished a surf. Willow greets them on the headland, having been getting some food for her dad, and Ash, on being introduced to her, makes pointed comments about her mates smashing up their garage. Willow asks Justin if he’s pleased to see her but he doesn’t answer so she walks away. Ash thinks she’s trouble. Justin points out she gave them her car to pay for the damage but insists he’s not looking to start anything. Back on the island, Ryder tries to convince himself and Raffy that the body is just a mannequin. Raffy goes to call the police but Ryder stops her, pointing out he’s stolen a boat and could end up in juvie, and isn’t moved by her protesting that the dead man might have family looking for him, saying someone else will find him sooner or later. Raffy runs off.
Ash and Justin head into the Diner, discussing sorting out insurance for the damage at the garage. Marilyn asks Justin to drop off a gift for Roo at the hospital, since she doesn’t think she can get away. Ash approaches Kat and Robbo at a nearby table and says he’ll drop off some of Luc’s old things for the baby. John comes in, looking for Ryder, and asks Kat when they can report him missing. Kat suggests Quinn give the police the details. Meanwhile, Ryder finds Raffy back at the boat. He is still insistent they shouldn’t call the police. Raffy says she can’t cope anymore and demands he take her back.
At the hospital, Alf and Roo discuss the lack of information on Ryder. Justin comes in with the gift basket from Marilyn. Tori also joins them and says the pain management team have suggested Roo have an implant that will stimulate the nerves and hence stop the pain. Justin takes her out into the corridor and asks if she’s seen Raffy, wondering if she knows about Ryder, but Tori has to leave when a patient is brought in. Justin follows when he sees Willow there: The patient is her father, Russell Harris. The ambulance officer says he had a fall and Willow adds he tripped down some steps at the nursing home.
Ryder and Raffy arrive back at the surf club. Raffy thinks they can go to the police now but Ryder points out they’d have to explain how they got out there. John sees them and chides Ryder for worrying his family. Ryder asks how Roo is and John suggests he goes to the hospital to find out. He rings Alf while Ryder asks Raffy to promise not to say anything. Raffy heads home and calls out, getting no response. She sits down on the sofa and cries.
Willow tells Justin that Russell seems to be getting worse and thinks she’s her mum. She gets a text message from Boyd saying he heard about her father’s fall and that accidents happen. Willow takes this as meaning Boyd did it. At the Diner flat, Kat is looking at her phone, hoping to get news of the verdict. Robbo asks what will happen if the verdict doesn’t go her way and Kat quips that they’ll move to South America. She reflects on Dylan and how someone she loved tried to kill her. She notes it’ll be over soon and heads out for a walk.
Alf and Roo are looking at an example of the implant Roo is going to have. Tori says it might not be forever and Roo agrees to have it. Alf follows Tori out into the corridor and asks if it’s really the best thing; Tori says it is if Roo’s happy. Quinn and Ryder turn up and Quinn asks if Ryder can see Roo. Ryder is shocked to see what he’s done to her, tearfully saying that no-one’s been nicer to him than her and she doesn’t deserve it. Roo says everyone makes mistakes and you have to learn from them. Nearby, Willow tells Justin she’s going to get Boyd. Justin wonders if he could be bluffing but Willow doesn’t think so. Russell is brought by in a wheelchair; he mistakes Justin for his brother Bobby and Willow tells Justin to play along. Tori reports Russell simply has a mild concussion and superficial bruising.
Alf, Ryder and Quinn are eating at the Diner. Ryder says he didn’t mean to hurt Roo; Alf accepts it but still expects Ryder to do odd jobs to make up for it. Ryder snarks that he won’t be there long since Quinn doesn’t like him being happy. Quinn looks upset and goes outside. Alf tells Ryder that Quinn lost her gig because of him and has made a lot of sacrifices. He tells him to act like a man instead of lashing out. Outside, Marilyn and Quinn discuss Roo, with Quinn noting Roo’s more forgiving than she’d be. Ryder comes out and tells Quinn he heard about her losing the job and doesn’t mean to stuff up. After an awkward pause, he says he’ll meet her round the front. Quinn goes back to Alf, saying Ryder sort-of apologised and noting he listens to Alf and Roo more than her.
Upstairs in the flat, Robbo has his bags packed and is writing a note for Kat. Ash comes in with the box of baby things and after a few moments realises what he’s looking at. He asks if it’s because of the baby and Robbo insists it isn’t. Ash tells him to go if he wants to but at least do Kat the decency of telling her in person. By the time Kat returns, the bags and note are gone and Robbo is sat looking over the box of baby things. Kat coos over the tiny clothes.
Tori comes home to find Raffy sat on the sofa eating two minute noodles. Although Raffy won’t tell her any details, Tori concludes they’ve both had hard days and, joining her under the blanket, suggests they have ice cream. Later, Ash turns up and Raffy decides to go to bed. Ash starts to rant to Tori about catching Robbo trying to sneak off but Tori isn’t in the mood to listen and tells him they’ll talk about it tomorrow.
Russell tells Willow, who he believes is his ex-wife Alice, that they need to pick up Willow. Willow tells him who she really is and he accepts it. She takes a photo of him drinking water at his request but he spills it. Justin, who Russell still believes is Bobby, helps clear up. While Willow is out of the room, Justin gets Boyd’s number from her phone. Later, he is waiting by the road as Boyd and two bikers drive up. Justin tells him to leave Willow and Russell alone. Boyd still wants his money and points out Justin is outnumbered. Justin asks if he needed the others’ help with Russell and Boyd says he did it on his own. Justin refuses to back down so Boyd has the henchmen hold Justin while he hits him…
