Extended Summary

Kat is annoyed to find herself accidentally flirting with Ash on the beach and returns home to vent to Phoebe about it. Phoebe, meanwhile, has had her own run-in with Justin after she witnessed him yelling at the police officer Decker, and both Phoebe and Kat decide that they need to date less complicated men. They vow to find some normal, dependable dates.

Leah and Zac are planning a romantic picnic but it gets railroaded when Zac gets a call from the school, telling him there’s been a problem with the trial HSC marks. Zac has to cancel on a disappointed Leah. Zac confronts Hunter when it is discovered that Hunter’s marks were the ones adjusted on the school’s computer system, giving him a higher mark than he obtained in the exam. Hunter guesses that it was Tabitha who did it. Olivia is concerned to learn that Hunter is in trouble and Tabitha has something to do with it.

Zac confronts Tabitha about Hunter’s accusations and she denies them. Attempts to manipulate Zac, telling him that she is helping her sister with stem cells for her chemotherapy. She tells Zac that she knows that Zac will take Hunter’s side because he is Hunter’s father. Zac is indignant about this accusation, leaving Tabitha anxious that she may have played her cards wrong.

VJ and Billie come back from the hospital, having found out the sex of their baby. Leah is dismayed to discover they’ve done this, as she was hoping that VJ would follow tradition and leave it as a surprise. VJ and Billie promise not to tell Leah and to keep all gifts for the baby un-gender-specific. Irene is later able to find out the sex of the baby after humorous pressure.

Phoebe and Kat ask Chris if he knows any nice, dependable men and he thinks of an accountant mate that might be the perfect candidate. He organises a date for them over the phone with the accountant and his friend, not realising that Ash has overheard the conversation. When Ash finds out that Kat is moving on, he becomes upset. He unsuccessfully tries to rope Justin into a plan to go and spy on the girl’s date.

Zac and Leah clash over what to do about Hunter, and it becomes clear that Tabitha’s words may have gotten to Zac after all. Zac finds Hunter at the school and tells him he’s going down for the mark adjustment, and Hunter is aghast to learn that he could face criminal charges and expulsion.

Meanwhile Leah vents to Irene that she feels her family are slipping out of her orbit, and reveals why she’s so upset about VJ and Billie finding out the sex of the baby – she wanted them to have the surprise that she had when she gave birth to VJ. Leah returns home and VJ accidentally lets slip that the baby is a girl. Instead of getting upset, Leah is excited, and the trio celebrate the news with joy.

Phoebe and Kat get ready for their date with the accountants with anticipation, excited about dating some different types of men.

Hunter finds Tabitha in the Diner studying with Olivia and confronts her about what she did. She denies it, turning on the sympathy card again with Olivia. When Olivia defends her, Hunter loses his cool. He tells Olivia that Tabitha is a psychopath and that Olivia had better be careful around her before storming out.
