Extended Summary

Leah questions Zac about his hardline attitude towards Hunter, but Zac rebuffs the line of questioning. He’s under a lot of pressure, and he can’t show favours, just because Hunter’s his son… At an impasse, the pair recognise they’re always fighting lately, and decide to have a dinner that’s just about them.

Phoebe and Kat, meanwhile, arrive for their double date set-up and are astounded to see Derek and Brian, two very cute guys Chris is trying to matchmake them with. Phoebe and Kat are suddenly full of hope – maybe tonight’s not going to be a disaster, after all…

Tabitha’s working the sympathy angle for all she can get as she moans to Olivia about the way Hunter’s trying to blame what he did (changing his mark at school) on her. They agree not to discuss Hunter any further. To cheer Tabitha up, Olivia suggests they pick out the perfect outfit for Tabitha to wear to mufti day at school. Hunter, meanwhile, shares his concerns to Irene. There’s something seriously wrong with Tabitha… And even though Irene’s inclined to give Olivia’s good judgment the benefit of the doubt, she agrees it might be worthwhile keeping an eye on Tabitha.

The double date, meanwhile, is going well, but now Ash turns up – and he’s not happy to see Kat with a cute guy. Kat, furious that Ash is seemingly spying on her, plays it up, as she laughs at every single thing Derek says to her. Ash, meanwhile, plonks himself down at a table with John and Marilyn, who are both immediately wary… Surely, this won’t end well…

Zac attempts a conciliatory dinner with Leah, and they’re just settling in for a pleasant evening together when Zac checks a text message on his phone. Leah’s annoyed, and Zac can’t help but retaliate – now that he’s the principal he can’t just clock off at five every day! The evening’s ruined as the pair are left at loggerheads with each other…

Chris is doing “research”, having a meal at Angelo’s, but also keeping an eye on how things are going with the double date. Mia, a young woman beside him, wonders why Chris keeps staring at Phoebe and Kat? Chris defends himself – he’s not a stalker, he’s just keeping an eye on his handiwork! Mia’s apologetic – and wistful. She’s just been stood up a Smouldr date… She wishes someone would set up with a nice guy! She and Chris start to swap war stories about bad dates they’ve been on – and it may just be the beginning of a beautiful friendship…

Tabitha, meanwhile, is dressed up in one of Olivia’s outfits and is posing for photos. Olivia pauses, to scroll through the photos, but as she does, she finds the video Tabitha took on her phone of the passcode on Zac’s computer. Olivia’s shocked to realise Tabitha must’ve set Hunter up, after all! Irene arrives home, interrupting, and Tabitha announces she’s staying over. Irene can see Olivia’s upset, however, and puts her foot down. The sleepover will have to wait for another time… Irene returns from dropping Tabitha home, and a pensive Olivia admits she’s starting to think she doesn’t know Tabitha as well as she thought…

Chris and Mia are getting along famously, but he gets a message from the Diner that someone’s gone home sick, and he needs to take off. Kat, meanwhile, confronts Ash, accusing him of spying on her. Ash refutes the charge, as he sledges Derek. Kat tells Ash to move on with his life – the same way she is. Brian and Derek, meanwhile, wonder if Phoebe and Kat would like to kick on somewhere? Kat defiantly invites the boys back to the farmhouse, where she and Phoebe marvel over their luck. Have they seriously found two cute, stable, grown-up guys to date? No sooner are the words out of their mouths, when the girls walk in on the boys, now shirtless, shuffling a deck of cards – strip poker anyone? Kat and Phoebe are appalled… telling the boys to get out!

Chris, meanwhile, is taken by surprise as Mia unexpectedly shows up at the Diner, wanting dessert. She’s just as surprised to see Chris – she had no idea he worked there! The pair continue to bond… But as Mia leans in for a kiss, Chris is taken aback and quickly calls an end to what’s otherwise been a very pleasant night…

Having learned about the video of his passcode, Olivia tells Hunter. Zac heads to school and demands to see Tabitha’s phone. A wary Tabitha hands it over, and Zac flicks through it – but there’s no sign of any video. Realising that Olivia’s the one who’s turned her in, Tabitha is hurt by Olivia’s betrayal. Olivia is clear – all she’s ever done is try to be a good friend to Tabitha. Hunter and Olivia turn their backs and leave Tabitha behind.

Phoebe and Kat bemoan their bad luck with men. Kat wishes she could get over Ash… Even though she knows he’s bad for her, she can’t stop thinking about him. Ash, meanwhile, is feeling maudlin as he admits to Marilyn that he’s not over Kat, even though she’s obviously over him…

Chris tells John about his encounter with Mia, and admits how guilty he feels. If Mia wanted Chris to kiss her, then surely he must have been leading her on. And what does that say about his love for Hannah? John counsels Chris, who’s left wondering if he’ll ever be able to move on…

Tension grows between Leah and Zac as she tells him that whilst she understands his commitment to his new job, she doesn’t want to become a virtual widow, either. They both grow frustrated that they can’t seem to have a conversation without fighting. The pair realise, they’re in a rut… Zac wonders how do they get out of it? A saddened Leah admits she doesn’t know…
