Extended Summary

Brody’s life still hangs in the balance as Nate gives him CPR. Tori watches on, as they finally manage to stabilise him. Nate needs her to sign one last consent form as Brody’s next of kin – in case they need to amputate his leg. Phoebe rushes in to comfort Justin.

Duncan wishes he knew what went wrong during the flight. Everything was going fine. He did all of checks. Alf and Roo try to reassure him, he got the plane down as safely as he could, that means a lot. Duncan blames himself though, he must’ve stuffed up and put everyone’s lives in danger. He’s frustrated, he just has to wait until CASA complete their investigation. Roo checks on Alf, he’s clearly just happy to have Duncan home.

Tori explains Brody’s chances to the rest of the family. Having had one cardiac arrest already, Brody’s in bad shape for an operation. Justin fumes, Decker is going to pay for this. Tori and Mason are thrown – Justin realises that it’s time to reveal what really happened to that plane…

Billie and VJ stare at an ultrasound-monitor as the doctor gives Billie the all clear – her baby’s amniotic sack has completely healed. When the doctor offers to tell them the sex of the baby, VJ is all for it, but Billie isn’t ready yet. Some tension arises as they take time to discuss whether or not they want to know.

Justin has explained that Decker used him as bait to catch Spike. Tori is furious that Decker put all of them in danger. He nearly got them all killed. They don’t understand. Tori and Mason are further shocked to learn that Phoebe now knows everything. Nate arrives and explains that the surgery went well. They didn’t have to amputate after all. Tori and Justin thank Nate before he leaves. Her brothers finally reunited again, Tori reminds them that they’re all a lot stronger when they’re together, it’s time Justin comes home…

Phoebe is happy to learn Justin has patched things up with his family as he packs to move out. However, Justin is still struggling with how close he came to losing his family. Phoebe warns Justin not to do something stupid… But it’s clear Justin’s anger at Decker has yet to abate.

Duncan, Alf and Roo finish dinner. Alf and Duncan share a warm moment. Alf’s glad to have him back. He puts his letter for Duncan away in his draw, happy to have the time to fix things properly with his son ahead of him.

Vj finds Ireene working away at the diner, he can’t believe she’s this, she was in a plane crash last week. Irene would rather be keeping busy at work then relieving it all at home. VJ asks Irene to talk to Billie, it might help if she heard from someone who went through the same thing.

Duncan calls Tori, he wants to talk to Justin about the smoke he saw coming from one of the planes engines at take-off. Tori knows Justin lied and works to cover. The next morning, Roo finds Dunca ruminating on life, he’s considering leaving the bay. Everything’s a mess, and he’d love to get back to his son. He hasn’t told Alf yet.

Having spent most of the night at hospital, Justin and Tori continue watching over Brody. She confronts Justin on his lie to Duncan about seeing smoke. She’s just exhausted by the situation they’re In, having to lie to people, and the danger they find themselves in. Seeing his sister in pain, Justin decides to take control and calls Decker, he wants to meet up.

Irene finds Billie at the caravan park, and she admits that VJ’s worried about her. They take a walk and Billie reveals that she’s freaked out. The ultrasound brought up a lot of issues for her about how the baby could turn out. She’s worried the baby might be ‘bad.’ Irene is flabbergasted, babies aren’t born bad! She’s a firm believer in nurture over nature. It’s about the love that family gives to a child that matters. Billlie asks her about her son…. Irene knows in her heart that if she’d been able to keep her baby, he would’ve turned out to be a good person.

While organising his flight, Duncan finds Alf’s letter to him. He hangs up his call, and reveals that he’s decided to stick around a bit longer. Alf is thrilled.

Brody finally wakes up, and the family are there to support him, but Justin has to step out. He finds Decker at the beach, he’s immediately apologetic. Decker assures him that he’s safe here. He knows that they don’t trust him yet, but if he only knew what he did for his family… Justin probes but Decker refuses to tell him more. Justin is done with Decker. He’s clearly tempted to punch him when Phoebe arrives and chastising him for doing exactly what he promised not to. Still furious, Justin tells her to back off and stop sticking her nose in his business – she’s not his girlfriend!

VJ and Billie walk along the beach, she’s grateful to VJ for sending Irene around. They agree that they’re going to love this baby no matter what, they may as well find out the gender.
