Will Rachel and Tony’s relationship survive? Do Leah and Miles have a future together? What will Kane plea?

Extended Summary

After Tony’s suggestion of breaking up rather than risking Rachel never having children, Rachel is left horrified and confused about his feelings for her. Rachel confides in Leah that she wonders if Tony may be right. She heads to the beach to think, where Tony spots her from a distance, looking upset. Tony is left convinced that she feels that they should call the wedding off so Tony, believing he is doing the right thing by Rachel, leaves her a hasty phone message ending the relationship. This infuriates Rachel and she confronts Tony. He is quick to apologise and tells her just how much he loves her. Rachel reiterates that she wants them to be together more than anything else in the world.

Leah is still stressed by financial difficulties and her tense mood is compounded by confusion over her feelings for Miles. His friendly and relaxed relationship with Kirsty and Oliver is looking cosy and when she sees them together, she finds it hard to hide her jealousy. Miles picks up on her odd behaviour and asks why she has been avoiding him. Leah struggles to hold back tears as she tells him of her financial strife, however she still hides her confused feelings for him. Miles later decides to confront the real issue of where their relationship is at. Leah admits that she is attracted to him but until she has finished grieving for Dan she believes they can’t be any more than just friends.

Most of the town is concerned at the possibility of Irene going to gaol because of her involvement with Kane. Meanwhile, Kirsty is trying to make it up to everyone who suffered from the crimes. Kane receives an interesting offer from the Police Prosecutor, in return for a guilty plea; they are willing to drop the charges against Irene and Kirsty. Morag desperately tries to persuade him to turn down the deal, in the hope that they can quash the original conviction and plead mitigating circumstances for the other crimes. However, despite her best efforts, Kane’s nobility wins out and he calls Morag to say he will plead guilty at the hearing. Morag is left to break the news to Kirsty and Irene.
