Colby deceives Chelsea in his quest to find Bella, but it’s not the happy family reunion he expected. Justin gets to the bottom of Raffy’s unhappiness.
Extended Summary
Colby and Dean come up from the beach. Dean asks if there’s news from the police. Chelsea is waiting for them and tells them Homicide tracked down the guy they were after but he hasn’t seen Ross in years. Dean thinks the police are wasting time and they should get the River Boys. Colby asks if Homicide have spoken to Neil; Chelsea doesn’t know but says she’ll check. At the Morgan house, Raffy is sat with Buddy. Justin says she shouldn’t bottle things up and Raffy thinks she’s said too much already. Justin asks how school is and Raffy says it’s been hard; Coco’s been helping her but now she’s going away. Justin says she’s still got Ryder and should have talked to him or Tori. Raffy says they’re always busy. Justin insists she’s their priority but Raffy says she has to get back to school.
Outside the surf club, Chelsea is leaving a phone message for Neil, telling him about the recording proving Ross killed Colby’s dad and asking him to help out for Bella’s sake. Willow overhears and asks if it’s true. Chelsea says it is, and they also think he killed Colby’s mum but there’s no proof. She’s on her way to update Colby and Willow goes with her. At the Diner flat, Willow admonishes Dean for not keeping her in the loop before being greeted by Colby. Chelsea says she hasn’t heard back from Homicide so contacted Neil herself.
Willow and Dean head downstairs and Willow comments on how Colby’s holding things together. Dean says he has to take some things to Ben at the surf club. Justin comes along and he and Willow exchange awkward talk about Raffy and Tori before Justin leaves. Willow helps Dean carry things. Up in the flat, Colby is looking over files. Chelsea tells him she’s going for a run and they’ll find Ross eventually. After she’s gone, her phone beeps with an alert. Colby sees it’s a text from Neil saying “103 Miller Road, Karingal”. He writes the address down, then deletes the text.
John is hovering over Ben as he gets to work on setting up the counter. John says that there needs to be full access for members at all times and if Ben deviates from the agreed plans then he’ll make a complaint. Meanwhile, at school, Ryder finds Raffy in a classroom and asks if she’s okay. She says she’s not sure how she can cope without Coco since she, John and Marilyn are the only stable things in her life. Ryder notes he didn’t make the list but says he’ll try and fill Coco’s shoes. He asks if things can stop being weird between them but Raffy leaves.
At the Diner, Justin approaches John and Marilyn and says he appreciates what they’ve done for Raffy. Marilyn begs him not to take Raffy away from them again but that’s not what he has in mind: He wants to know if they’ll take Raffy back permanently. He says he hasn’t spoken to Raffy yet because he wanted to see if it was okay. John and Marilyn are delighted at the prospect and Justin says it’s Raffy’s call. Meanwhile, Dean and Willow arrive outside the surf club, with Willow commenting on how Karen forgot everything until Dean and Colby came to see her. Dean tells her that Karen’s doing all right.
Ben directs Dean in putting the board rack up. John tells them to make sure they know what’s behind the wall before drilling into it and Ben points out he’s fully qualified. Colby turns up and drags Dean away. They go into the gym and kick Willow’s client out before telling her they’re including her in the loop now. Colby tells her about the address but doesn’t want to inform the police because he thinks they’d send a clueless uniform who’d scare Ross off. He and Dean are going to go themselves. Willow points out Chelsea won’t be happy and they tell her they need her to keep Chelsa busy.
Colby and Dean load up the car. Dean checks that they’re doing it. Colby sees Chelsea nearby but gets in the car and leaves. Later, Chelsea runs into Willow at the Diner and asks if she knows where Colby and Dean are, since she can’t get hold of them. Willow says they went to a place in Reefton Lakes with poor phone coverage and invites Chelsea for a drink.
Coco watches Ben work while looking up the camp on her phone. She apologises that she’ll miss the opening and Ben says she can make up for it with free shifts. Ryder comes in and tells Coco she can’t go; Raffy needs her and he can’t measure up. Coco goes to see Raffy and tells her she’s not going but Raffy realises it’s because of her and tells her to go. Afterwards, Justin comes in and tells Raffy he thought he was doing the right thing bringing her back there after her diagnosis but she’s not happy and he took the choice away from her. He says she can live with John and Marilyn if she wants. Raffy isn’t sure they’ll want her back but Justin says they’d love it. Raffy confirms it’s what she wants and Justin looks sorrowful as they hug.
Colby and Dean draw up outside the address. Colby wants to go straight in but Dean says they don’t know who’s in there and this is where Colby went wrong last time, panicking when he saw Ross packing. He says they need to wait until morning and get a feel of the place. Next morning, Raffy, Coco and Ryder are having a farewell breakfast at the Diner and Coco says Ryder will help Raffy while she’s gone. Ben and Maggie arrive to collect Coco. Raffy wants to go too but Ryder stops her, saying not talking about what happened has made things weird. Raffy says things should go back to normal now she’s living with John and Marilyn again. They shake hands…but seem to hold on and stare at each other a bit longer than necessary, before Raffy hurries off.
Dean gets off the phone and tells Colby that Chelsea bought Willow’s story. They see Ross leaving the rather rustic and isolated property; Colby makes a move towards him but Dean tells him they’re there for Bella and they let Ross drive off. They approach the house with Colby telling Dean to go round the back. Colby goes inside: There are several weapons, axes and shotguns, on the walls along with hunting trophies. Bella appears, pointing a crossbow at him. Colby says it’s him but Bella already knows and doesn’t put the weapon down.
