Extended Summary

Brody is sorting out a delivery outside the surf club. Riley comes along and tries to make friendly small talk but Brody isn’t in a friendly mood, saying he saw Riley with Evelyn. Riley says she’s a good kid and mentions her having a boyfriend; Brody comments that he found that out. Riley insists they were just talking. Brody tells him not to mess Tori about and Riley says he’ll do whatever it takes to make things work. At the farm house, Matt and Evelyn are looking over their travel plans and Matt is trying to get her interested in lamb’s brains, supposedly the national meal of Greece. Evelyn tells him to get the list of restaurants Leah gave him and he instead finds her letter about the placement in Vietnam. Evelyn says she applied before they were together and she and him have plans now.

Zac wakes up in bed with Sam. He quickly dresses and leaves before she wakes up. When he arrives home, he is accosted by Alf, who is angry about him staying out all night and tells him Leah was up with Luc, worrying about him. Leah comes down and Alf leaves to check on John and Marilyn. Leah is also angry with Zac, who tells her he got drunk and crashed in a van. Leah refuses to discuss things with him, saying she has to check on Luc.

Later, when Leah comes back down, Zac tries to talk to her again. Leah says VJ might have needed him and still isn’t keen for a discussion since she has to go to work, going upstairs for her keys. Sam turns up and Zac hustles her out the back, saying she has to leave. Sam says she needs to talk to him so, with Leah calling out for him, Zac leaves with her. They head down to the beach where Zac is angry at Sam for coming to the house, asking if she’s trying to break up his marriage. Sam says she thought them sleeping together had changed things but Zac says he loves Leah and it didn’t mean anything. Sam tells him to never come to her for help again.

At the Morgan house, Brody asks Tori how things are between her and Riley, wondering if it’s casual or serious. Tori says it’s serious. Riley then turns up and Brody seems less than pleased to see him. Riley invites Tori to have lunch with him and she agrees, going to get changed while he goes to shower. At the Diner, Matt and Evelyn arrive, bantering about visiting ancient Greek monuments. Leah comes over and tells Evelyn that Teach the World left a message on their answering phone asking if she’s taking up the placement. Matt is surprised she hasn’t said no and realises she wants to go, saying if he stopped her he’d be preventing her from helping needy children. Evelyn seems undecided.

Brody tells Tori that Riley was flirting with Evelyn at Salt. He says he knows because of the body language but makes a mess of demonstrating. Tori says Riley’s just trying to get to know people but Brody says Justin might be right about him. Tori meets Riley on the beach, saying she wanted some privacy. She asks if he was flirting with Evelyn and Riley says no. He says he understands if she doesn’t trust him but he’s not the same person. Tori goes round to see Evelyn and asks if Riley was flirting with her. Evelyn says he was just being nice. She comments on taking a risk of being hurt again, saying that’s why it took her so long to get together with Matt and then saying life soon messes you up again, making you choose between your boyfriend and your dream job. Tori realises they’re not talking about her and Riley.

Alf comes across Zac near the surf club. Zac says Alf was right to have a go at him earlier. Alf says he was just trying to prevent another disaster and asks if Zac has sorted things out with Leah. Zac isn’t sure if he can but Alf tells him to be honest. At the Diner, Leah is complaining to Irene about Zac and saying he’s keeping things from her, like Sam being back. Irene points out he told her everything eventually and is just trying to protect her. Leah asks if she’s meant to ignore it. Irene says no, but Zac’s lost a lot of people and is still trying to support her.

Tori and Riley are going for a night-time walk on the beach. Tori says she spoke to Evelyn and Riley says he’s sorry for her being put in that position. He reminds her of their old plans, to be a power couple running their own hospital and living in a terraced house with a dog called Bacon. He says he still wants all that. Meanwhile, Evelyn has summoned Matt to the farm house. Matt guesses she wants to do Teach the World, saying he Googled them and they seem to be do-gooders like her. Evelyn suggests he’d be the perfect person to balance it out. She wants him to come with her: He can get a job and live in another country and Ellie can come too.

Leah arrives home and thanks Zac for sorting out the baby stuff. Zac tells her he’s done something terrible but Leah says she doesn’t want apologies, she wants a fresh start: They spend all their time reopening old wounds. She tells him she just wants to forget about the previous night. Zac agrees and hugs her but looks uncertain. Next morning, Tori and Riley are kissing as Brody walks through on his way to work. Riley offers to cook for her and she recalls them living off two minute noodles. Riley says he’ll take her to a five star restaurant in the city and wonders how her family will deal with them being back together; Tori admits Justin will take time to come round. Riley suggests they get away from them and move to the city together. He thinks Summer Bay is too small for her. Tori looks as though she’s considering it.
