Miles and Kirsty reach an understanding. Ross tries to find out why Charlie is withdrawing from him. Ruby looks for answers from Aunty Michelle.
Extended Summary
Ruby and Geoff turn up at her aunty Michelle’s and Ruby asks how she could’ve gone along with the lie that everyone kept. Michelle insists that it wasn’t her place to say and everyone was just doing what they thought was best. Charlie wonders why Ruby would go to Michelle’s, but despite Morag and Ross insisting that there’s nothing to worry about, Charlie can’t help but feel that Ruby is up to something.
Michelle talks to Ruby about what Charlie went through following her assault and Ruby’s birth. She presents Ruby with a photo album where all the photos of Charlie have the faces cut out. Michelle proceeds to tell Ruby that Charlie didn’t hate her, she hated herself.
Miles confides in Leah about the problems he’s having with Kirsty and how her university studies are overtaking her life. Later, Kirsty asks Leah to swap her shifts so she can finish off an assignment that is due that day. Miles is angry when he finds out but Leah tries her best to calm him down, however, Miles reveals that he thinks their age difference might be becoming a problem.
Leah and Miles talk about his relationship with Kirsty and Miles admits that he’s worried about their future. Leah tells Miles that she’s sure they’ll be fine, but Miles isn’t convinced. However, Kirsty spots the pair and walks off jealous. Arriving home, Miles is surprised to find the place spotless. Kirsty then suggestively tells him she has other plans for the afternoon before heading upstairs and Miles quickly follows.
Ross arrives at the police station and demands to talk to Charlie. She insists that she doesn’t want to talk to him about this but Ross is adamant they’re going to sort things out. Charlie admits that she is angry at her father for how he handled things regarding her sexual assault and how it is affecting her life now. Despite Ross insisting that Charlie’s boyfriend was a minor, Charlie insists that she should’ve got the justice every victim deserves. She adds that if she loses Ruby over this, she will never forgive her father. Later, a devastated and disorientated Ross walks along the beach before collapsing into the ocean.
