Rachel confronts Kim. She believes he doesn’t want a baby with her. Kim assures her that he does but he doesn’t like the idea of an anonymous sperm donor and he’s not ready yet. He wants to wait two more years before having another child. Rachel thinks he means never. Their discussions are never finished as Rachel is called into work where she’s forced to work alongside Hugh. Rachel can’t sort out her feelings for Hugh – she’s arguing with Kim and getting abused by patients. Hugh seeing how strung out Rachel is suggests she comes over to his place for a drink after work. Rachel, who can’t face going home to fight with Kim, agrees. Martha’s supposed to be home when Hugh and Rachel arrive but she’s not and they are left alone. Rachel’s a broken woman – the day has worn her down – and after a glass of wine she needs to sleep. Hugh suggests she take a nap in his bed and Rachel agrees. Hugh, out in the living room, falls asleep too but wakes to hear Rachel crying. Hugh goes into the bedroom to comfort Rachel and the two end up in a passionate embrace – that promises much more!

Matilda isn’t keen on Kit’s decision to move back to the city with Archie and finish her Uni degree. Mattie reasons that if Kit stayed in town there was still a chance that Kim would realise that he was as in love with Kit and she is with him. Kit isn’t prepared to wait around for that unlikely occurrence – especially as she knows Rachel and Kim are trying for a baby via the IVF program. When Mattie learns that Kim wants to put the IVF process on hold she’s convinced this is because of Kim’s feelings for Kit – Kim just doesn’t realise it. Left alone with Kim Matilda tests her theory. After a long roundabout conversation she finally tells Kim that Kit is in love with him and she believes he loves her too – the moment is interrupted by the arrival of Alf. Kit is devastated and very angry with her sister when she learns what has happened.

Alf’s old wooden dingy isn’t much use to him anymore and he decides to sell it. He finds an unlikely buyer in Tony. Tony sees restoring the decaying dingy as something he can do with Lucas who he’s desperate to re-bond with, after the fallout that sleeping with Naomi caused. But to Tony’s dismay, Lucas has no interest in helping his dad repair the boat.
