Occupation: Police officer

This long-serving member of the local police force was first seen in early 2011 as an officer from Newcastle who brought the real Shandi Palmer to the area, tipping off Charlie and Robertson to the fact that the woman they’d met was an imposter. He apparently transferred to the local police over the next few months, as he was seen bringing Charlie the knife found on Jake Perovic after Brax had left him tied up with bags of drugs. Stevenson was next seen helping Charlie investigate the arson at Jake’s place and questioning Casey. Other appearances in 2011 saw him closing down the send-off party Heath had arranged for Casey before his court appearance, chatting to Simon Peet about a robbery at his service station and working with Inspector Joyce to take statements from Bianca and Heath when they claimed they had been driving the car Liam crashed into. He also saw Charlie hand in her resignation.

Stevenson was involved in the investigation into Stu Henderson’s death, leading the search of Xavier’s house and failing to stop Sid interrupting Romeo being interviewed, and also informed Xavier of Georgina Watson being made station sergeant. He was alerted by Sid to the fact Margaret Henderson had poisoned her husband Alan, arrested Harvey for fraud and questioned Casey over assaulting Dave Townsend. He was called by John when he discovered Jett had stolen Marilyn’s bag, unknowingly let Xavier access police records to track down Jett’s father, tracked Jett down after he had run away to John and Gina, and was unhelpful when Leah and Liam tried to alert him to Jamie Sharpe stalking her.

He was summoned by Connie Callahan when Heath failed to return Darcy after a sleepover, helped out with the aftermath of Gina’s death, went looking for Kyle after he had been framed by Adam Sharpe, found the drugs planted in Zac’s room by Holly Chapman, searched for Oscar and Evelyn after Zac and the Braxtons had taken them from Sanctuary Lodge, arrested Andy after Josh was shot at the court house, and investigated Jade Montgomery’s claim that Heath had assaulted her. He only made one appearance in 2014, leading a search of the Braxtons’ businesses at the surf club after a complaint from Mark Nicholson, but began to appear more in 2015, trying to arrest Ash as an accessory to Dean Sanderson’s murder, taking a statement from Evelyn after Tank held her prisoner and manning a road patrol alongside Kat, where he unknowingly pricked her conscience over her drinking by catching a woman over the limit after a night out.

He was involved in the investigation into Charlotte King’s murder led by Dylan Carter, discovering that Charlotte had a second credit card, questioning Phoebe about Ash’s alibi and retrieving the clothes Zac wore that night from the caravan park. He was present at the station when Andy falsely confessed to murdering Charlotte. He took Kyle’s report about Dave Morgan harassing his family, went with Ben Murray to collect Simmo’s laptop which contained evidence of Kat’s secret relationship with Ash, and kept an eye on the Morgans while Justin and Kat reviewed the evidence Atticus Decker had gathered on the drug cartel prior to his death.

He was involved in the investigation into the arsons at the beginning of 2017. He and Kat pursued Brody after he fled from a stop and search but failed to find the drugs hidden in his car. After taking a statement from Scarlett about her being carjacked, he identified Brody from CCTV footage and also found his evidence on the lock box of Scarlett’s that had been broken into. He was finally summoned by Justin to arrest Brody when he refused to believe his family were trying to help him. Mick Jennings tried to get him to arrest Ash and Tori for trying to take Luc out of the country but he refused to do so without evidence.

He investigated the theft of food from the Diner which turned out to be the work of Robbo, who Alf and Scarlett realised had stowed away on their boat after they encountered him in a cove. He was part of McCarthy’s team that raided Dennis Novak’s hideout but failed to apprehend him and later assisted DI Shephard in investigating Novak’s murder and was told by Ash that Robbo was Beckett Reid. Stevenson made his last appearance in early 2018, partnered with Colby on his first day on the job where they investigated the River Boys hassling a service station owner for information about Robbo.

*The character was credited as Constable Nader in his first appearance in Episode 5221 and simply Police Officer in Episode 5360, not becoming the familiar Neal Stevenson until Episode 5393. This profile assumes these two episodes were early appearances of Stevenson.
