Extended Summary

Tori arrives back at the Morgan house and calls out for Brody without response. At the Diner, Mason asks Alf if he’s seen him. Justin asks waitress Rachel the same thing at Salt. He meets up with Scarlett outside; she has been searching without success. They head back to the Morgan house where Tori, Mason and Raffy are waiting. Scarlett wants to call the police to report the robbery. None of the others are keen: Mason suggests that Brody might not have done it (with Justin adding that someone must have let him out) and both Justin and Tori want her to wait. Scarlett is worried that Brody will sell her things. Justin says if he took cash then he’ll spend that first but Scarlett thinks he could run out quickly and makes the call.

At the beach house, Hunter looks at an e-mail from Zac on his laptop. Olivia comes downstairs and tries to get him to reply to it, since Zac has been messaging him a lot. She has difficulty saying that Zac isn’t his dad but points out Hunter has been doing nothing except school, eating and sleeping for days. She tries to get him to come to the beach with her but Hunter refuses and ends up snapping at her and going upstairs. Later, at the Diner, Olivia chats to VJ about it: She is worried Hunter is bottling everything up. VJ bumps into Alf with the large box he’s carrying. He explains to Olivia that it’s some of Billie’s things: He’s going to give them to Ash to give to Luc. Olivia wonders why Hunter won’t talk to her like they’re doing. VJ says guys don’t discuss their feelings and she’s better off trying to find a way for him to let off steam.

Kat and the police are conducting a forensic examination of Scarlett’s house. Scarlett explains what happened to Kat and says she doesn’t want Brody charged, just her stuff returned. Kat presses her for information on what exactly was in the lock box. After initially trying to keep it vague, Scarlett says it was a bracelet with a locker attached, some paperwork and $10,000. She refuses to say how she came by the money. Kat points out that cash can’t be traced. Meanwhile, Justin, Mason and Tori are quietly debating the situation when Brody arrives home, greeting Buddy as if nothing has happened. They ask him about the robbery. Brody denies all knowledge, saying he called Zannis to let him out and he must have done it. None of the others seem entirely ready to believe him, asking him why he came there instead of going back to Scarlett’s. Justin says he needs to go to the police and calls Kat.

Kat interviews Brody at the police station with Justin in the room. She queries why he lied about being in contact with Zannis, then asks when Zannis had the opportunity to do the robbery. Brody says Zannis told him to wait for him in the car. Scarlett bursts in against another officer’s protests and tells Brody he can keep the money but she wants the bracelet back. Kat has her escorted out. Brody realises no-one believes him and Kat says they’re waiting on fingerprint evidence. Since he’s not under arrest, Brody leaves and Kat tells Justin to keep an eye on him. At the Diner, Raffy tells Tori that Brody obviously doesn’t care about anyone else and she’s fed up of everyone lying to her. Scarlett comes in after finishing a phone call: She’s been evicted, since the robbery resulted in her landlord finding out she was letting Brody stay without permission. Alf overhears her blaming the robbery on Brody and asks what’s going on.

VJ and Olivia turn up at the beach house. Hunter apologises for his behaviour earlier. Olivia tells him that they’re going out for a drive, since he has Zac’s car. Hunter isn’t entirely keen but Olivia convinces him by saying he needs to make up for his earlier behaviour. She gets them to drive out into the bush and then starts walking. Neither VJ nor Hunter knows where they’re going and neither is too keen on the idea of a mystery bush trek but she insists they follow her.

Stevenson brings Kat the fingerprint report: Only Scarlett and Brody’s fingerprints were found on the cash box. Kat says they’ll bring him in. At Salt, Justin and Mason try to interest Brody in information about the rehab centre that they’ve found on the laptop. Brody keeps looking nervously at the door. He heads out onto the balcony for some air and sees the police car pulling up outside. He bolts down the stairs and out of the surf club. Justin and Mason follow, as do Kat and Stevenson, but they somewhat inexplicably stop chasing him after Brody jumps over the fence and across the grass. Kat calls all units to look out for him.

A short time later, Justin and Mason muse that running makes Brody look guilty. Kat tells them about the fingerprint evidence. She says they’ll put a trace on Brody’s phone and if he’s found he’ll be charged. At the Diner, Alf laments to Scarlett about Brody throwing away a good life for a quick high. Scarlett says addiction’s not that simple and wonders if she made a mistake letting Brody stay with her rather than sending him back to his family. Alf says she was generous. He tells her she can stay in a caravan and work at the bait shop to pay for it.

Tori and Justin are waiting at the police station and wonder if being arrested might give Brody a wake-up call. Justin wonders if he could have been more supportive. Tori says there’s no point thinking like that. Justin checks on her hangover and how she’s coping with Nate’s departure. Kat says they’ve got a fix on Brody’s phone and lets them come along. They head down the beach with Kat following the GPS…but simply find Brody’s wallet and phone abandoned, plus Scarlett’s bracelet. Justin wonders why Brody would dump them. Tori says he doesn’t want to be found.

Olivia leads VJ and Hunter to a cliff edge and says they’re going to do a therapy exercise. VJ tries to remind her of his earlier advice. Olivia shouts “I hate my life!” over the cliff, explaining you have to shout out what you’re feeling. Hunter rather feebly says that Zac isn’t his real dad. Olivia says it really helped in therapy, although they shouted into pillows. She tries to get VJ to go first but he isn’t any more into it than Hunter, who storms off. VJ and Olivia follow him back to the car, with Olivia apologising. Hunter gets into the car and starts speeding round and round in a circle, producing great clouds of dust. VJ and Olivia look rather concerned.

At the Morgan house, Justin returns the bracelet to Scarlett: Tori, Mason and Raffy are all present as well. Scarlett asks if he looked in the locket and Justin jokingly asks if there’s a picture of him inside. Scarlett says she has to go and pack, explaining about Alf’s offer. After she’s gone, Raffy asks if they’ll ever see Brody again. Justin assures her they will…but the look he exchanges with Tori suggests both of them are less than certain.
