Extended Summary

Alf and Justin have an altercation with an unknown man who’s been hiding out on Scarlett’s boat. The mystery man is disorientated and flees, pushing Justin and Alf out of the way when he is discovered. Alf and Justin are discussing this encounter, deliberating how long this man has been hiding out on the boat when Scarlett comes into the bait shop. They tell her about the stranger, Scarlett is horrified to learn that he has been living in her boat. Alf and Scarlett search the boat later that afternoon and find the mystery man’s backpack has hastily been left behind. Scarlett searches the contents of the backpack and finds some of Alf’s belongings that were stolen at the cove. The man who attacked them at the cove must’ve hidden on Scarlett’s boat as they came back to Summer Bay and is now on the loose! Alf and Scarlett tell the police what they know, they are all clearly very worried that this mystery man is still at large (believed to still have Alf’s pocketknife in his possession.) Later at the pier we see the mystery man from the boat hiding in the bushes, watching Alf. What is he up to? Is Alf in danger? The mystery man confronts Alf on his front doorstep, demanding answers. Alf, frustrated, doesn’t have anything to give; so demands to know who the bloody hell is he and what does he want? Overwhelmed the mystery man reveals that he has no idea who he is.

At the hospital as Tori tends to Mason she tells Brody to go home since there hasn’t been any change in his condition. But Brody wants to stay because he feels guilty and knows that it is his fault, but continues to insist that Zannis was there. Tori suggests that if Brody wants to do something useful then he should focus all of his efforts on finding a spot in rehab. Brody assures Tori that he has been trying but there isn’t a lot available. Seeing his sister’s frustration Brody continues the rehab search; making a few calls. He finds a place that he can get into on short notice but it is a private clinic and therefore too expensive. Ziggy spots Brody down at the beach and asks if he is okay; she has been worried about him. Brody however doesn’t seem touched by her concern and brushes her off, telling Ziggy to stay away from him for her own good. At the morgan house Tori expresses her fears to Justin that Brody isn’t taking his rehab search seriously. Justin offers to talk to Brody about the rehab issue and find out since Tori has other things to worry about. Justin follows through and asks Brody how his rehab search is going. Brody explains to Justin that he has been but there’s a problem; there are no spots in any of the public ones and the private clinics cost a fortune. Justin suggests that the family can all pitch in to help him scrape the funds together, Brody refuses but Justin is adamant, this is important, it doesn’t matter what it costs. Justin reports back to Tori about Brody and the rehab issue asking if Tori can afford the 30K it would cost to send Brody to a private clinic. Tori is horrified to hear how much money it will cost, there’s no way they can afford it. Justin reminds Tori what the stakes are but she knows and offers to make a few calls.

Down at the diner Olivia asks Tori how Mason is doing. Tori invites Olivia to come down to the hospital and pay him a visit. Olivia wants to but has reservations about doing so. Ziggy finds Olivia struggling on the way to the hospital after accidentally locking her keys in her car and offers to help. The girls make small talk while Ziggy uses a piece of wire to jimmy the door open and Olivia discovers that Ziggy is friends with Brody… well sort of. Olivia finally makes it down to the hospital to see Mason and finds herself feeling overwhelmed. She tells Mason about her day while Brody watches on and listens. Brody asks Olivia about her run in with Ziggy and Olivia helps him to open his eyes about the whole situation. Having seen some sense, Brody goes over to apologise to Ziggy about the way that he treated her; he really could use her friendship right now. Although standoffish at first Ziggy eventually accepts Brody’s apology and the two successfully make amends. Ziggy heads down to the diner to thank Olivia for talking some sense into Brody. Olivia questions if there’s anything going on between them and Ziggy is purposefully vague, turning the question back onto Olivia; is she seeing anyone? The two girls head off together for that coffee, the beginnings of a friendship starting to form.

Tori makes a few calls, trying to find a place for Brody in a public rehab, but all of the wait lists are extremely long. It looks as though their only option at the moment is the private clinic. Tori and Justin brainstorm what to do; neither of them are able to afford it. Tori suggests that their only option is to sell Salt. Tori shows Justin Salt’s finances; things aren’t looking good, they’ve just been losing money and business ever since Brody’s departure. Tori has been putting her own money into Salt all of this time but it’s not enough. Justin is shocked; he had no idea it was this bad and can see that perhaps selling is their only option.
