Extended Summary
At the Summer Bay House the mystery man still holds Alf at knife point, demanding answers that Alf can’t give. From afar Roo approaches the house and sees that Alf is in danger and runs to the caravan park to get Kat. Although she is off-duty Kat grabs her badge and heads over to appease the situation. Alf tells Kat what he knows; it is the bloke who attacked him at the cove but it appears that he has no idea who he is. Seeing how disorientated the man is Kat gently convinces him to put down the knife and talk to her. As he obliges Kat explains that she will call a doctor for him. When Tori arrives at the beach house and tends to the mystery man’s injuries she discovers that he has a nasty head wound which has probably given him a concussion. Kat explains to Tori that he can’t remember anything other than waking up on the beach. Tori explains that they should take him to the hospital and the man obliges. At the hospital Tori asks the mystery man some more questions to see what he can remember. To Tori and Kat’s bewilderment the man admits that Kat looks familiar but he’s not sure why. Kat assures him (and Tori) that they’ve never met before until today. Tori explains that he might have post traumatic amnesia but they will do some more scans to be sure. When the scans reveal that there aren’t any abnormalities the mystery man becomes frustrated with the lack of answers and tries to storm out of the hospital. But Kat intervenes and sternly tells him to stay put; she will run a missing persons check down at the station. As Tori leaves for the night the mystery man’s bed is empty. The next morning Kat goes down to the pier to talk to the mystery man where he has been found. Kat talks him into going back to the hospital despite no new news about his identity; her missing person’s search turned up nothing. Kat reassures him that she wants to help and will do everything that she can. The mystery man sincerely appreciates Kat’s help and thanks her.
Tori and Justin wait for Brody in an empty Salt, Scarlett wishes them luck with their plan. When Brody arrives they broach the subject of rehab with him, saying that they have worked out a way to pay for the expensive private clinic. Brody is all ears until Tori drops the bombshell that their solution is to sell Salt. Brody outright refuses, it is the only good thing he has left. Justin tries to explain that although it isn’t ideal it’s what needs to be done. Brody, not wanting to hear any of it, storms out as Ziggy comes in and asks what is going on. On the beach Brody tells Ziggy about what has just happened and why he is so upset about the idea of selling Salt. Brody insists that he has made it clear to Tori and Justin how he feels but they won’t listen because he’s messed up too many times. Ziggy suggests that maybe Brody doesn’t need a fancy rehab and that he can keep Salt by focusing on his cooking and recovering on his own. At the hospital Tori and Justin discuss the topic of Brody, Tori venting in frustration about why he is being so difficult. Brody enters and overhears them, trying to make them see that he isn’t just being difficult and why selling Salt isn’t an option. But Tori is unimpressed with his alternative/solution; that he goes back to being chef at Salt and keeps attending NA meetings. Tori can’t take it anymore and flies off the handle, tearing Brody apart, furious at his selfishness, especially after what he did to Mason. Later Justin finds Tori in Mason’s room and talks to her about her blow up at Brody, he tries to make her see things from Brody’s side but Tori doesn’t want to hear it. They need to stop being soft, Brody has already had too many chances. What happened to Mason was the last straw and nothing anyone says can convince Tori otherwise; they’re selling Salt, end of story.
Later, Justin tells Scarlett about both of his sibling’s stubbornness, he feels as though his family is falling apart and that there’s nothing he can do about it. Scarlett goes to find Brody at Salt and chats to him. Brody tells Scarlett that Salt is his only remaining connection to his mother. Scarlett points out that perhaps he should consider the family that he has left rather than the family he’s already lost. Brody says that he will have nothing if he sells Salt but Scarlett insists that as much as it will hurt he needs to do it for his family. Brody messages Tori and Justin asking them to come down to Salt where he tells them the news that he will sell Salt and go to rehab. Justin is proud of Brody but Tori admits that she can’t let herself get her hopes up yet again, leaving Brody devastated by her lack of faith in him.
Justin tells Scarlett the good news about Brody the next morning and thanks her as he realises that she was the one who convinced him to come around. Justin invites Scarlet to come with him to drop Brody off at the rehab. Ziggy comes over to the Morgan house to say goodbye to Brody as he prepares to go to rehab; she gives him some comforting words, saying that she believes in him and gives him a kiss on the cheek. Tori isn’t there to see Brody off and Justin figures that she must’ve gotten called into work early and would be there if she could. Brody on the other hand isn’t so sure. After dropping Brody off at the rehab Justin and Scarlett banter about how much drama is in their lives. They have a moment, Scarlett leans in to kiss Justin but he pulls away and ruins it by suggesting that she should go.
