Extended Summary
As the pressure builds on Charlotte to protect Hunter from being blamed for Marilyn’s electrocution, she’s left with no choice but to get rid of the safe he stole from the diner. But when Denny catches her with it and demands she take it to the police, Charlotte refuses, and a struggle erupts, causing Denny to fall and hit her temple on the bench. Charlotte checks that Denny’s okay, but when she doesn’t respond, Charlotte realises the horrible truth – she’s killed Denny.
Worried for her pregnancy, Phoebe gets an ultrasound, revealing that she’s having twins! But as her excitement builds, Phoebe learns that one of them has died. Meanwhile, Kyle and Ash continue to bond over the baby’s impending arrival, teaming up to put together the baby’s cot. But as Phoebe processes the loss, the doctor delivers more bad news – the remaining baby has a severe congenital heart defect, and is unlikely to survive until full term. As Phoebe considers having a termination, Hannah suggests she tells Kyle and Ash. But when she arrives, they proudly show her the cot, and she keeps her secret to herself. How can she ever tell them the crushing truth?
When Nate learns how badly Kat has reacted since learning he slept with Ricky, he finds her and tries to make amends, telling her that it will not happen again. Kat refuses to accept his apology, or listen to his concerns that her self-destructive behaviour could lead to another panic attack. But when her shift partner charges a driver with being slightly over the limit, Kat realises that Nate is right, and ends her shift. As Nate tries to comfort the guilt-ridden Ricky, Kat sees them, and misreads their body language. She storms off, humiliated that she believed Nate. He’s just made things a whole lot worse.
