I believe one of the reasons Scarlett didn't report Brody to the police is because she fancies him.

<Snip> Because she had a soft spot for him IMO which is due to the fact that she likes him.

If he doesn't like her now I believe that he will at some point because the writers seem to like to pair him up with blondes - That is what I was referring to in my previous post.

From the scenes were are talking about, I don't interpret them as Scarlet fancying Brody. I see that, yes she has a soft spot for what he represents (whether or not that is for him personally remains to be seen) but caring and a romantic interest are not the same thing.

Having said that, the writers (with the emphasis on romantic interactions) have set up pairings based on less. So it's not to say they won't hook up...

Of course, at the moment Brody fancies drugs above everything else - unless they are a pathway to more drugs, no girl, blonde or otherwise will matter to him....

(Your previous post that didn't make sense to me - to use an analogy to illustrate - If Brody likes Pizza and Scarlet orders a pizza, that doesn't mean she likes Brody - your post had the same bad logic)

I reckon if Ava hadn't turned up Justin may  still have got on that plane, but it was  her turning up, lovely surprise and gesture by Brian, no Nina though, that was his undoing.  Good casting btw, the actress who plays Ava is so like Justin. Phoebe and we all know she has faults could see what it was doing to him, you could practically  hear the wheels turning in her brain. It may have seemed a shock him calling an end to them, but in the long run although painful now he was right a long distance relationship wouldn't have worked.  Yes he could have flown out to see her, but she would have been tied up in rehearsing, writing songs, been taken out by the producers and such, they would have hardly any time together. The 'surprise' party wasn't then!  I did laugh at Justin's '"Hands up who has coped an earful off Phoebe?' Ash, of course, Justin himself and others. Good night I thought

Nate was in the ball spotting Brody's behaviour and he didn't see him lose it with the worker earlier. Maybe him having the munchies is a symptom of being on ice.  He voiced his concerns to Tori who looked as if she dismissed it as just coming down but then we saw her making another call to the tox department.  Good point harrietjames about Brody fancying drugs above anything at the moment.

Nice to get news of Patrick and that he doing OK and Ash will be seeing him.

This friend Irene was visiting in Yabby Creek would that have been Madge's party that was arranged on the same night?

Good decision by Ash to let Leah babysit Luc despite his initial concern, btw where was VJ no sign of him at the house.  I could be wrong but it seemed to me that Leah is realising Ash is doing a good job of looking after her, they were both relaxed when handing her over.

The cops didn't have much to go on regards the suspect, that description would have fitted most of the guys in the area.  They were bound to jump to the, wrong  in this case, that the driver of the car was an accomplice.  Then of course they got a better CCTV shot and were able to identify Brody. Can I be picky here, Brody didn't break into Scarlet's house, the door was open, no surprise there, he called out and said he was leaving the bag. Do Yabby Creek cops have the necklace in their possession yet?

I don't think it's James so much telling Roo to back off, it's his family who are apparently loaded.  He did, as I thought, try to warn her, but she ignored his calls. Not quite an echo of her and Brett Macklin and his family but close.  They wanted the baby until he turned out to be a she. What do they, James' family think Roo is after, do they think she is some sort of gold digger, an older woman desperate for one last chance at having a child who 'tricked' their son into getting her pregnant. This is the same father after all who slept with James' finance! Could explain why James is doing the job he is so he doesn't have to rely on his family and why he doesn't want children, he'd know what sort of life they may have.  It's going to be tough, money wise, for Roo, but she'll have her family and friends around and that can mean a lot more than having  a privileged  upbringing where there isn't  a lot of love. Alf certainly knows when to make an appearance 'Baby, what baby?' His words, 'at your age' echoed Morag's. Roo may have cut Alf from frim giving her the third degree but it was late and she'd had a bad day.  Plenty of time for her to tell him all about it next morning, he's going to blow a casket .

Evie and Matt clashed on their first meeting and look where they are now,

Actually, as I recall, they got on quite well when they first met.It was Sasha that clashed with him at the start.(Evie clashed with...Kyle at the start. So doesn't always mean anything.)

So, goodbye to Phoebe.I'm not as pleased as I would have been at some points but I doubt I'll miss her either. She's one of those characters who manages to be around for three and a half years without ever really having a reason to be there or adding anything. It's kind of summed up by the rather low-key departure, although I guess she had a decent party in the previous episode.

Hmm.Scarlett seems fairly well-versed with police procedure:Professional knowledge or personal experience?Anyway, her "I know nothing!" stance didn't do Brody much good as they couldn't miss him on the CCTV.I'm pleased that Raffy got her necklace back but not entirely sure about Tori keeping the truth from her and even less sure about the fact that Kat appears to have concealed evidence again.(Are we meant to assume that Brody confessed and therefore they don't need the evidence? His suddenly being back at the house seemed rather abrupt.)Justin throwing Brody out of the house is an interesting reversal of their positions last year.

Roo was spectacularly childish towards Alf to the point that it felt more like she was judging him than the other way out.It felt like it needed a bigger pay-off but instead the plotline just disappeared partway through the episode.Nice to get confirmation that Pippa is still alive.Seems like Sally and Miles have decided to give up on finding love and just live with each other into their dotage.

I share your sentiment towards phoebe, I've sort of loved to hate her. She's frustrated me so many times but I do find her quite funny and she can be quite uplifting sometimes. I felt semi-sad at her departure. Not quite sure if I'm glad to see the back of her or if I'd want to see more and have her stay. The low key departure was perfect for her in my opinion. I think she'll be back though. Eventually.

Brody getting arrested today will undoubtably kick start a tornado with the Morgan's. I'm intrigued to see how this pans out. I felt very tense when Justin confronted him and kicked him out. It was very powerful scene and the anger from Justin was prevalent.

Line of the week so far was from Alf. 'What Flamin' baby?!' Hahaha! Bit odd that he seems so easy to stand by Roo. I would've put money on him lecturing her for a good fortnight. There's time yet though I guess...

Well in your original reply which started this exchange the premise of your post was:

1) My statement where I felt Scarlett fancies Brody (which was why she didn't report him to the police) was wrong despite the events in the actual episode - which I presented in my last post

2) I suggested that was the only reason why Scarlett didn't report him and your reason i.e. she had similar experience was correct

You ignored the fact that I said in the very same post it wasn't the only reason and I didn't actually disagree with Scarlett not reporting Brody because she had a similar experience with people on drugs.  So I guess your post wasn't perfect either.

Your posts have highlighted to me the problem with people who follow at Australian pace that come into this thread and get into discussions with people who only follow at UK pace.  Because you are so many weeks ahead you are always going to be aware of something the UK posters aren't.  So just to use your previous comments as an example - When you first disagreed that Scarlett didn't fancy Brody you were absolutely certain of that.  But in your last post you acknowledged that they could get together.  So nothing has happened yet.  Now without reading your posts for all I know they could get together in a couple of weeks UK pace but the Aus episodes are more than a couple of weeks ahead of the UK.  So basically going by what you've said over the next few weeks nothing will happen between Scarlett and Brody.  So whether directly or indirectly you have given something away.  I can't speak for other posters but I only follow at UK pace, try to avoid spoilers and have no desire to know what's going to happen ahead of UK schedule.  I accept that sometimes I could accidentally stumble across something whether that be online or in a magazine but I want to minimize this.  This thread is UK pace only.  It even says in the segment of the Forum "UK PACE - NO SPOILERS".  Of course this doesn't apply to the NZ discussion thread.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I think I'm actually going to miss Phoebe.  There are times I found her self-centered, self righteous and strongly disliked her.  I would even go as far as saying at times I despised her.  Even in that episode the way she was acting when she was crying to Kat and Ash about Justin finishing with her.  He obviously loved her but was simply being pragmatic..  A year is a long time and people change, if she's on tour with a band and enjoying socialising/partying etc with other people in the industry, she's bound to meet someone eventually.  Part of me actually wishes that Justin did go with her because I'm not keen on him.  But even if he did I think he probably would have struggled being on tour with her and away from his family.  Despite my dislike I do think at times she showed glimpses of brilliance.  I remember when Kat and Ash got together and Kat was sneaking back after sleeping with him in the caravan and Phoebe caught her and the way she was acting and the expression she had on her face was hilarious.  Probably not a popular opinion in this thread but whilst I don't think she's the best character I do think given how heavily she's featured over the last few years her departure is significant.

Scarlett is showing an awful lot of loyalty to Brody given that she barely knows him.  Purposely not mentioning his identify when Kat questioned her.  I quite liked their exchange - Kat knowing full well that Scarlett was hiding something.  So Brody is being charged for vandalism.  When I first saw the preview for the episode when this actually happened I thought he was going to try and rob the place.  I suppose you could argue it's a good thing he's been caught now before he commits a far worse crime.  So that lunch Tori was about to indulge in has gone to waste.  Oh and Raffy has found another friend now that Ellie is gone.

I can understand Roo avoiding Alf given how he spoke to her the night before but I didn't like the way Marilyn lied to him in the Diner when he was looking for her and then when Roo heard Alf say he would support her regardless she popped up in delight dropping Marilyn in it.

Well...

Dude, obviously you have misinterpreted some things in my posts. My first post was purely "Here is a perfectly valid reason explicitly given in the episode" With the inference that no other interpretation needs to be added.   Should I have used Nah, instead of Nope to make that clearer to you, Perhaps?

Before you feel all bent out of shape about spoilers that you have deduced based on my comments remember your previous logical fallacies. Example to illustrate (flawed) logic. If you get drunk every Saturday night and you are drunk - that doesn't make it Saturday night.
