Well, I guess Casey was holed up with his father when the accident happened and, by the time he had an opportunity to find out, he was on a murder charge and had other things on his mind.I guess this is one of those points where they really should take the opportunity to stick in a reference, maybe have him tell Tamara about her or someone else who wouldn't necessarily know, so we get the chance to see his reaction retroactively.
