Extended Summary

DANI, SCOTT, HAYLEY & NOAH
Noah and Scott bemoan the fact that the girls are expecting a fancy night on the tiles, a swanky restaurant and all the frills, but there’s a problem – they’re broke. But there’s another problem – their too idiotic to admit this to the girls. So they’ve hired a limo and booked a table at Stefan’s (a posh eaterie) but can’t afford it. Ooopsie!
The girls are back at the palace, prparing for the big night out with a good old bit of leg waxing. Or rather, Hayley terrorising a skimpily-clad Dani with wax strips. They’re blissfully unaware of their boyfriends’ financial troubles, and the subject gets round to Hayley’s black paintings. She wants to know, out of interest, what Dani actually did with them. Dani, still wearing very little, reveals the truth – she’s entered them into a competition! Hayley is not happy, and would probably kill Dani for publicising what she describes as the darkest moments of her life, if Dani hadn’t made her promise not to. Hayley’s opinion changes, though, when she discovers the painings were accepted.
Scott and Noah arrive while the girls are upstairs and discuss their problems, unaware their girlfriends are eavesdropping. Once the boys leave, they feel sorry for not realising and you can just see the schemes developing in their little brains.
Meanwhile, Scott has gone to the Caravan Park to scrounge off Rhys. He lends them the money, but Beth insists that girls can be impressed by other things, not just fancy dinners. This doesn’t stop them, though, they’re already dressed up to the nines.
As they leave, Beth tells Rhys he’s a great dad. He points out that he doesn’t want to replace Jack as Scott’s dad. Beth says Scott loved Jack but would never have gone to him for something like that. I smell hints of a future storyline here.
Outside the palace, they realise they still can’t afford the limo and agree to only use it on the way to the restaurant, and take a cab home. However, they com inside and the girls reveal a swank meal, all laid out on the living room floor (well, a really low table anyway). The sneaky little things canceled the limo and restaurant and decided to save money and stay in. How romantic!

THE LOCK-IN
Things aren’t going well for the students, most aren’t taking it very seriously, and parents are getting suspicious that the entire teenage population are all at sleepovers on the same night. Both Seb and Robbie make phone calls home to let Beth and Alf know they’re okay. However, they can’t reveal where they are and Seb even ends up throwing the phone across the room. I’m not sure why, maybe he thought Alf was going to climb through it or something.
Whilst fooling about with the webcam, Robbie hacks into Hyde’s emails and finds the picture of the young girl and the baby. He and Seb discuss it, but find it very unlikely that Hyde has a young girlfriend. They decide not to ask Kim about it, uncase his dad is having a secret relationship Kim doesn’t know of.
Tasha feels very trapped in the school, since it’s all locked up and is getting rather panicky. Robbie can’t calm her down and eventually she runs off down the corridor, straight into Kim. Robbie watches in shock as Kim manages to calm Tasha down in just a few seconds. You can see him ready to explode with jealousy.
Meanwhile, Jade is annoyed when evil Mr Roger’s daughter admits that she told him on the phone where she was, and right enough, at that very moment, Rhys, Beth, Mr Rogers and a band of other anxious parents are arriving outside the school. Mr Rogers immediately blames it on the ‘unruly’ Shunterland children, which of course leaves Rhys fuming at the ears, and he ponits out that Roger’s daughter is in there too. Beth’s attempts to break up their argument only end in Mr Rogers telling her that, as head of the P&C he’ll hold her responsible for anything that happens. Rhys takes offense at this also, but Beth knows Mr Rogers is right. Jade turns up at the gate and converse with Beth while the other parents look on. She reveals that they’re not coming out until something is done about Mr Hyde. Luckily the man himself is out of town and doesn’t know a thing about this.
At the Beach House, Kane ‘s back from the charter and Irene almost reveals the news about the baby. She says Kirsty’s probably round at the Caravan Park celebrating, but when he arrives he only finds Colleen and her knitting needles. Of course, Summer Bay’s most efficient megaphone reveals that Kirsty’s still pregnant. Kane runs out, completely confuddled. Irene gets a call regarding the lock-in, just as Kane arrives back, he asks about the baby and she quickly tells him about the miscarriage being a mistake. They hurry to the school to find Kirsty and Tasha. When they arrive, Kane does his usual jumping-in-head-first act and practically tries to batter through the gates, all the while shouting his wife’s name – but she’s not actually been in the episode so she probably can’t hear him. What a shame.

This was a ver unusual episode, centering on only two storylines, but it was quite entertaining, especially Colleen and her knitting, and Seb’s projectile phone.
