Hayley to be Recast

Seven News confirmed yesterday that Rebecca Cartwright will leave her role as Hayley Lawson in Home and Away next month. Bec, recently announced that she’ss 3 months pregnant, hinted that she would leave the role when her contract expires later on this year. However, the date has now been brought forward and she will film her final scenes at the end of June.

In a move which has shocked many members of our Message Board, the show’ss producers have decided to re-cast the role of Hayley Lawson. “In the best of show business traditions we will recast the character of Hayley, as we have done a number of times during the 18 years of Home And Away’ss life,” said Seven’ss Head of Drama.

Re-casting for the role apparently begins today.

Hayley won’st be the first popular character to be re-cast. Pippa, one of the show’ss original characters and played by Vanessa Downing, was replaced in the role by Debra Lawrence. More recently, Joel McIlroy replaced Martin Dingle-Wall in the role of Flynn Saunders.
