Julie comes out and Jack jumps up. JACK: Where's Lara? JULIE: She's still in theatre, Jack. Rachel will be out as soon as she can. JACK: Why is this taking so long? Something's not right, I can feel it. JULIE: Just... stay positive, okay? JACK; If she dies... JULIE: Look, Rachel knows what she's doing. Just wait here, it can't be long now. Jack sits down again and buries his face in his hands. FLETCHER HOME Peter and Sally are sitting on the couch. Peter's arms are around Sally and her head is resting on his chest. PETER: I can't believe this. SALLY: Neither can I. PETER: One minute I think we're never going to be together, then I'm afraid you might die... and now you're here in my arms and it feels like you've never been anywhere else. SALLY: I know... when I was in there... when I thought I was going to die... the only thing on my mind was that I'd never get a chance to be with you. PETER: I love you. SALLY: I love you too. They kiss. THE HOSPITAL Rachel comes out and Jack stands up. JACK: Please, Rachel, I can't take this anymore. RACHEL: She's stabelized. JACK: Thank God! Can I see her? RACHEL: Yes. JACK: What aren't you telling me? RACHEL: It was a tough operation, Jack. There was a lot of bleeding and... we almost lost her. She's still very weak and tired. But you can go in for five minutes. JACK: Thank you! HOLDEN/HUNTER HOUSE Matilda is lying in her room. Tony comes in. TONY: Hey Mattie. MATILDA: Hi. TONY: Listen... is something wrong? MATILDA: No. TONY: Are you sure? MATILDA: Yeah. I'm fine, really. TONY: Look, if you want to talk about something... MATILDA: I will come to you. I'm just a little tired, that's all. TONY: Okay. Sleep well. MATILDA: Yeah, you too. He leaves and Matilda picks something up from out of the drawer. HOSPITAL - LARA'S ROOM. Lara is lying with her eyes closed. Jack comes in. JACK: Hey. FITZY: Hey. JACK: How are you feeling? FITZY: I'm okay. JACK: You saved my life. FITZY: And you risked yours for me. JACK: So I guess that makes both of us either brave or stupid. FITZY; I guess both. She smiles weakly. Jack sits down next to her and takes her hand. JACK: I love you, Lara. FITZY: I love you too. Jack stands up and kisses the top of her head. JACK: I would have kissed you properly if you weren't feeling too bad. FITZY: Stop threatening me and do it. He smiles and they kiss tenderly. It's not over yet! Hahaha... PART 11 Previously in Summer Bay Lara got shot, Sally and Lara are save and alive (so far), Johnny and Tracey are in jail (so far), Peter and Sally are in love, Mattie is worried about something and Jack and Lara kissed. Martha is still in love with Jack too. Oh, and Beth died from an illness earlier, sorry I didn't mention it sooner. FLETCHER HOME Sally walks down to find Ric and Cassie setting the table for breakfast. SALLY: And this? CASSIE: It's just to say we love you and we're glad you're back. RIC: Yeah, we made some for Peter too. He still upstairs? SALLY: No. He didn't spend the night actually. RIC: Seriously? Why not? SALLY: We decided not to rush this. We're going to take it very slow. RIC: Oh. Okay. He sits down at the table. SALLY: Is something bothering you? RIC: Mattie isn't answering my messages. I hope everything's all right. SALLY: I think they had a tough night with Fitzy getting shot and Jack being upset at that. Just go over later, maybe she'll talk to you then. RIC: Yeah, I guess you're right. HOLDEN/HUNTER HOME Mattie is sitting at the breakfast table, playing with her food. Tony looks at her with a worried frown. TONY: Mattie, what's going on? MATILDA: Nothing, really. I just... I just wish my mum was still here. TONY: We all do, love. But I thought you accepted that... MATILDA: Yeah, I have. I understand that she was sick and it was better for her to die, but... I just really need to talk to a woman, you know. Someone who'll understand. LUCAS: Why don't you try talking to Sally? MATILDA: Yeah... I'll see. Excuse me please. She leaves and Tony and Lucas look at each other. TONY: Something is so wrong. LUCAS: I guess it's a girl thing. Look I have to go and meet up with Belle... but I'll see you later. ON THE BEACH Matilda is sitting on the beach when Ric shows up. He sits down next to her and tries to kiss her but she pushes him away. RIC: I just got your message. What's going on? MATILDA: I...
