What a sensible post, John. I like to see unlikeable characters for just that reason. Makes me feel better about not being perfect myself. I remember years ago Home and Away was filled with smiley, happy characters who never had real feelings, but about the time they changed the way it was filmed (2003 according to Wikipedia), the characters also became more realistic.

Oh good, cos I've got a lot of Nicole scenes coming up in my current fic I think she is my favourite female at the moment, she reminds me of me when I was young

Ooh, exciting! I wonder if Belle's boyfriend is Justin (yum! why did he have to leave the show?). So, an even more exciting plotline: Nicole was with Heath, now she's with Casey. I can see yet again, Nicole will be in a love triangle. She just attracts trouble that girl, which is why I like her Looks like each girl will maybe have two brothers fighting over her I love that everyone has written stories about Belle being still alive, it was awful that she died, I didn't watch those episodes, they were too upsetting.

Yeah Red, I like these two as well. Its a shame that she has been so weird lately and horrible to poor old Xave, he wouldn't hurt a fly. She seems to be hanging round with Dex a lot, I can't work out whether they are going to get together or if he's her gay best friend or something Poor old Xave. it was funny he was getting relationship advice from John when the other day he was giving John advice.

However with this one I'm running into a few problems with the last few chapters so there might be a pause later on There is a lot of illness around at the moment and I'm the one looking after everyone (in real life I mean)

Yes, I really like Xavier now. I think what started it was his comedy moments with Romeo (we need more of those), then I felt so sorry for him with Vampire Ruby messing him about, how dare she? It was all her fault, not his. He seems to be nicer, he even still helps Ruby with her problems. He is even getting on with John now, they have a good father/son relationship, which is pretty rare in H&A, isn't it? And of course April was really horrible to him recently, poor chap I think he brings out the protectiveness in me

That is brilliant Jen. The descriptiveness is really evocative and you've got Dex described perfectly. And Nicole, but Dex is spot on. Very sweet and low key and subtle. I think Dex is your soul brother. Also, Nicole and Dex are my two favourite characters at the moment, so this is very pleasing

Help, Aussie slang advice needed by an English person. How would an Aussie man say to another 'you want to watch out or I'll beat you up, that'll teach you not to do that again!' What would sound more Australian?

I think, like Hollyoaks in Britain, they should have a 'Home and Away late' or something, where they explore deeper issues. I'm not sure how Hollyoaks do it, I stopped watching it years ago. But I think they have characters going places and getting up to things away from the main Hollyoaks programmes. So its kind of interwoven with the main series. If that makes sense. Anyway, that could be interesting e.g. 'what happened when April went to France' like a mini series about April and her father, Rene and co. Or 'what happened when Miles went to Africa to see Elijah.' They would have to be more interesting and scandalous stories than those of course!

I like Romeo better now he's a bit angry and losing his temper more and fighting, instead of doing nothing all the time. I used to think that about Geoff, I wished he'd just do something instead of just standing there. Action is more interesting, it would be better if he went off the rails rather than was such a good boy all the time. I thought Romeo and Indy would make a brilliant couple but they just talk endlessly about their relationship rather than actually having a relationship.

Yes, that annoys me when they do that. Like when they did that with 'the stalker' Zoe/ whatever her name was. Why did they have to make her gay as well as a violent maniac? I thought they were implying that gay people are always weird and possibly crazy.

LOVE your post Jen! I haven't seen all this on screen yet but it sounds interesting and I've already noticed the way Casey and Romeo are looking at each other after just one episode Oh, good old Home and Away, a break from my normal life
