Extended Summary

Lyrik continue their performance, while directly below them, Tane is aggressively hitting a punchbag in the otherwise empty gym. Justin comments to Xander on him pulling off the gig and comments that Lyrik are a draw card. Bree also tells him that there’s a big turnout and he hopes that Mack and Felicity feel the same way.

Mackenzie arrives at the surf club as Tane is finishing closing up the gym. She asks if he’s spoken to Felicity but he says he’s not interested. She invites him upstairs to the gig and assures him Felicity won’t be there, since Xander keeps complaining about her not being in work. They head upstairs as Kirby announces a short break. All the band are pleased to be playing together again and Bree also gives them her congratulations. Theo checks on Justin, who says he’s organised a cab to take him home. Mackenzie comments to Xander on the 2-for-1 deal, saying she hopes he checked the numbers to make sure they turn a profit. He looks awkward.

Felicity tells Cash she’s heading into work, because she’s tired of looking at the four walls and because of the gig. She’s confident Tane won’t be there, since the gym will be closed. They head to Salt, where Lyrik are starting to play Someone Like You. Eden smiles at Cash, but Felicity looks out of sorts, bumping into someone, which only increases when she sees Tane with Mackenzie at the bar. Mackenzie sees her and she turns around and leaves, which Eden signals to Cash.

Cash follows Felicity downstairs where she explains about Tane being there, which she thinks means he must be fine. Mackenzie appears and explains she invited Tane. Felicity is unimpressed, accusing her of comforting him. Cash ushers Flick out, asking Mackenzie to tell Eden.  Mackenzie heads upstairs and she and Eden have a quiet chat. Tane asks Xander for another beer. Xander, somewhat unconvincingly, tells Mackenzie he’s crunched the numbers and is sure they’ll make a profit. Mackenzie tells Tane about Felicity being there, which he hadn’t noticed. Mackenzie says everyone’s apologising for Felicity except her. Tane heads off, just before Xander returns with his beer, which Mackenzie takes. He goes down to the gym and gets his sleeping bag out.

Next morning, Eden and Kirby are making breakfast when Remi and Bree emerge. Kirby says they’re getting a good response on the socials and points Remi towards a care package (including expensive wine) his parents sent to mark the occasion. She also notes they’re getting downloads on their album again. Meanwhile, Mackenzie goes to see Tane, who is punching a bag again at the gym. She isn’t happy about him sleeping there. Tane says he’ll get a motel room for tonight but Mackenzie offers him the spare room at hers, thinking he needs to be around friends.

Justin and Xander chat about the gig at the coffee cart. Justin then chats to Irene, who confirms Leah covered her shift because she was celebrating: John even shouted them a steak dinner, albeit two for one. Justin goes over to where Theo is sitting and asks what he’s doing today. Theo guesses he won’t be relaxing. Justin wants him to drive him round all the wedding venues.

Eden brings Cash breakfast. He tells her Flick went out early, convinced Tane’s coping. He says the gig seemed to go well. Tane arrives and, on learning Felicity isn’t there, says he’s there to pick up the rest of his things. Cash reminds him it’s Tane’s name on the lease and suggests moving out with Flick Tane says it’s simpler this way. Eden and Cash leave him to it.

Later, Tane is looking at the wedding photo on the fridge when Felicity turns up. She at first wonders if he’s moving back in, then tries to get him to stay and talk. Tane insists they’re done. Felicity reminds him they just bought a block of land together. Tane says he cancelled the sale a few days ago and shrugs off the fact his whanau have lost their deposit. He leaves and Felicity notices he left his wedding ring.

At the surf club, Eden wonders if Irene and Harper being cleared means Cash will be reinstated but he isn’t convinced. Tane arrives and advises them to check on Felicity, explaining she came home while he was there. They find Felicity in her room, playing with the ring, and she says it’s over. Eden tries to comfort her but she pulls away, saying she wants to be on her own. She walked out of the house and Eden stops Cash going after her.

Xander arrives at Salt where Mackenzie tells him they did make a profit and gives him a bonus, although she warns him they’ll have to chat later. Justin and Theo turn up to meet Remi, Kirby and Bree. Justin says that, even though he has the wedding to focus on, the others should get to work. Remi steps away from the table to take a phone call, telling the caller he’s not sure and will call back. He tells Bree they’ll talk later. When they arrive back at the Diner flat, he asks her if she wants an expensive meal tonight which neither of them will be paying for: It’s his parents’ anniversary and he asks her to come and meet them. He admits he’s never had a girlfriend he wanted to meet his parents before.

Mackenzie and Tane chat by his car and she gives him the keys to the house. Felicity watches from a distance, shocked. She follows Mackenzie into the surf club and accuses her of taking sides, saying Mackenzie’s making it easy for Tane to leave her. Mackenzie replies that Felicity did that.
