Extended Summary
Eden and Remi are walking on the beach. Remi notes they’ve had a request for a radio interview. He knows Eden is worried about Felicity but encourages her to focus on the band. They run into Bree, who has just finished a night shift. She asks Remi to have breakfast with her but he reluctantly has to admit they have rehearsals. Bree heads back to the flat where Xander is just finishing a phone call. He tells her that he’s been called into work to cover for Felicity again: He knows that she isn’t sick but that she and Mackenzie won’t work together.
At the Morgan house, Alf reassues Justin that Leah wouldn’t keep quiet if she was having second thoughts about the wedding. Justin concedes that she shot him down the last time he offered her an out on the engagement. At the Diner, Marilyn admires Leah’s ring. Alf comes to the counter while they’re talking and rather brusquely asks for service. Marilyn knows he’s still mad at her and Alf advises her not to talk about the article. He tells Leah about Justin’s concerns and advises her to speak to him.
Remi, Eden and Kirby are getting set up for rehearsals, with Eden relieved to get a text from Felicity. Theo turns up, explaining he had to go to the garage to do admin for Justin and also explaining about buying the ring. Remi suddenly announces that he thinks they should use the radio interview to talk about their first gig. He selects Kirby to accompany him to Salt, where they propose to Xander that they have a gig there tonight. Xander is somewhat flummoxed, given the lack of time to either organise or publicise it.
Leah returns home and questions Justin about his belief she’s having second thoughts. Justin points to the way she reacted when Rose looked at the ring and to the fact she hasn’t been sleeping. After some hesitation, Leah says she’s just thinking about the wedding and how much there is to organise. Justin tells her he’ll do all of it, explaining he was only distracted yesterday because of Theo sending him photos of the ring.
Xander isn’t convinced that there’ll be a big enough crowd to justify the gig. Kirby offers to do it for food and drink. Remi asks about ways of getting people through the door and Xander decides to organise a two for one happy hour. They head back to the house where Eden is on the phone, probably to Cash, talking about Tane avoiding Felicity. Remi takes the phone and ends the call. He and Kirby explain the plan to have the gig tonight. Eden and Theo are taken aback but get carried along with it.
A short time later, Theo and Remi are loading up the van, while Kirby is trying on outfits. Theo sees that Xander has posted about the gig and the fans are going wild. He and Eden are still a bit worried, since they haven’t played a gig since the Battle of the Bands. Justin calls Theo, asking for his help with wedding organisation. Theo says he can’t help tonight, explaining about the gig.
Leah goes to see Bree and tells her that she needs help. Meanwhile, Theo, Eden, Remi and Kirby arrive at the surf club to be greeted by Justin, who wishes them luck. Theo stops him lifting anything when he’s just out of hospital. Justin admits he’d hoped to pick Theo’s brain about the wedding while he was setting up. Theo convinces him to give it a rest for tonight.
Leah explains to Bree that, despite Rose telling her Vita Nova aren’t a threat, she keeps having nightmares about being in the factory and being at the hospital hearing Justin wasn’t going to make it, and wakes up jumping at shadows. She asks for some sleeping tablets. Bree says they wouldn’t do anything about the underlying problem and wants her to talk to Juustin or a therapist. Leah insists she just needs sleep and ends up walking out. Bree gets a call from Remi inviting her to the gig.
Down in the Diner, Justin thanks Alf for talking to Leah. Leah herself then turns up and claims she went to Yabbie Creek for supplies but snaps at Justin when he offers to help unload them. Justin suggests she go to Lyrik’s gig with him but she has to work so gives him her blessing to go alone. Marilyn shows Alf the comments on the article, including one from a woman Alf saved from a rip as a child who is now a doctor. Alf says he’s not interested, but after she’s gone he gives a ghost of a smile.
Eden, Kirby, Theo and Remi are setting up at Salt (with Kirby wearing a different outfit from the one she tried on). Xander heads off to get changed. Remi and Eden compare notes: Bree is coming but Cash is with Felicity. Eden worries about the size of the stage and the fact she can’t get her mic stand to stay up. Kirby tries to reassure her that it’s only a test run and it doesn’t matter what they do, but Remi declares it’s their comeback and it’s all over if it goes wrong. Kirby wonders if that was a pep-talk or him terrifying them.
In a park area, Bree sends a text to Leah hoping she’s all right. Xander joins her and tries to claim credit for deciding to have the gig tonight, eventually settling for the fact it was his idea to have two for one drinks. Bree realises Felicity and Mackenzie don’t know. Xander argues they were the ones who didn’t turn up for work and thinks they’ll be all right with it.
Bree and Xander arrive at Salt, where a crowd have gathered, including Justin. Justin goes over to the band and tells them that he’s proud of them and only what happens next matters. Eden says that’s a pep-talk. The lights dim and Theo announces a new song. The four of them perform and get a good reaction.
