Extended Summary

Alf, Roo and Cash are all in the corridor. Mackenzie goes over to Cash. He tells her that Martha’s being treated and that Logan and Jasmine are in with Tane and it’s not looking good. He asks about contacting Tane’s family. Mackenzie says she’ll do it. At the Parata house, Mia finds Ari sitting up. He notes they didn’t get the news they wanted. Mia thinks they’re still in with a shot and just need to show the department he’s changed. Ari takes the call from Mackenzie.

The team including Logan and Jasmine are still trying to resuscitate Tane as Ari and Mia arrive. Jasmine thinks they need to call it but Logan insists on continuing. They get him back into VF and shock him. John fills in Ari and Mia as Tane is rushed past to ICU, with Logan saying to keep back from him because of the toxins. Meanwhile, Cash turns up at the caravan and knocks on Felicity’s caravan door. She eventually appears. After ascertaining that she was asleep, Cash leaves without telling her anything.

Alf is feeling frustrated at not being able to do anything. Roo tries to warn him about secondary contamination but, when Martha comes round and is agitated and calling out for him, he quickly goes to her side. Next morning, John is saying goodbye to the hazmat team outside the surf club. Mackenzie appears and John tells her the police haven’t been able to do anything yet since hazmat have just finished cleaning. The surf club and Salt can open but the gym’s still a crime scene. Felicity appears and John tells her what’s been going on, calling Cash a hero.

Logan finds Ari and Mia and tells them Tane is stable but critical and they can’t see him because of the toxins. Nurse Sue brings Logan Tane’s toxicology results. He asks if Tane was on medication or recreational drugs, explaining he was given a sedative to knock him out before being poisoned. He says they need to wait and see if he responds to medication. Outside the surf club, Felicity asks Cash if he came to see her because he thought she was involved with this. Cash says Tane seems to have been the target but Felicity is adamant she had nothing to do with it.

John arrives at the hospital and learns from Jasmine that Martha and Tane are both in ICU. He goes to see Irene and Marilyn with flowers and they tell him they’ve been given the all-clear. John apologises for inviting Irene but she says that she’d have gone anywhere to support Martha. Nearby, Logan tells Justin and Leah that her x-rays have come back clear. Justin notes he was worried that the argument would be the last time they spoke. At Salt, Mackenzie is clearing up. Cash comes up and asks for the guest list and a statement. She pointedly notes that it was probably someone that’s had a problem with Tane recently.

Tane is in an oxygen tent with Ari and Mia watching him through the door. Jasmine checks on them and they thank her for helping him. Meanwhile, Alf is by Martha’s bedside and has a phone conversation with Ryder. Roo appears with Logan, who assures him she’s stable. At that point, alarms go off as Martha’s pulse becomes irregular. Alf and Roo are ushered out of the room while staff treat her.

Mia brings Ari a drink and tells him Nikau and Chloe will be there as soon as they can. Cash appears, having come to pick up medical records. Ari wants him to find out who did it. Cash asks for a list of people with access to the gym office and if Tane has any enemies. Meanwhile, Logan tells Alf and Roo that the toxins have affected Martha worse than they thought: Her kidneys are failing and there’s fluid on her lungs. Although it’s treatable, they should prepare for the worst.

John, Irene and Marilyn have all joined Leah and Justin to say goodbye; John is taking the ladies home. Justin is going to go as well to get some clean clothes. He comments on the amount of texts that Leah has got from Theo. They pass Jasmine on the way out and then Cash. Jasmine isn’t happy that Cash locked her out on the balcony to potentially watch him die and tells him he can’t keep racing towards danger. Cash comforts her.

At Salt, John chats to Mackenzie about updating their evacuation procedure and briefly talks to Logan when he comes in. Mackenzie notes that Logan loves the adrenaline and won’t get too many days like this around here, wondering if he should go back to his old job. Logan assures her he doesn’t need that. Meanwhile, Cash arrives back at the caravan park and asks Felicity where she was between 5 and 10 last night. Felicity dismisses the question but Cash says he won’t be the only police officer asking her and she needs to get her story straight.

Ari worries that Tane still isn’t responding. Mia gets a text from the solicitor asking about Ari getting a reference from his parole officer. Ari angrily says he can’t think about that now. In her caravan, Felicity rings someone and says she’s in trouble and needs help.
