Extended Summary

Salt is still full of people from the event. Leah and Justin are arguing out on the balcony. John asks Jasmine if she wants her dessert and she lets him take it. Irene stops him from taking hers. At the other table, Marilyn and Martha discuss the fact that Roo has been a long time taking people out to their cars, speculating that she is giving them fundraising ideas. Mackenzie stops by to check on them. They note Alf has been cornered by a committee member, which Martha calls a fate worse than death. Fumes continue to come out of the vent above them. Downstairs in the gym, Tane is unconscious and convulsing.

Alf rejoins Martha and Marilyn, telling them the silent auction for the painting has raised over $2000. Martha is feeling ill and the others suggests it’s the excitement or the champagne. Mackenzie takes a call from Logan, who is at the Diner, and suggests he come over so they can celebrate afterwards. John heads downstairs to close up; Irene thanks him for inviting her and he thanks her for helping fill the table. Jasmine goes to check on Justin and Leah, who are arguing about the spare room which Leah hoped Theo would move into eventually. Jasmine suggests they go back inside, plying Leah with champagne, but then Tori calls Justin, so Jasmine sticks around to talk to her.

John checks on the office and notices the closed gym, but simply moves the sign in front of the door. Roo comes back in from walking the guests of honour to their cars and notes it’s good that Martha saw she inspired people. Upstairs, Irene has joined Alf, Marilyn and Martha at their table and is also feeling ill. Leah complains to Cash about Justin not finishing their conversation. Alf tries to help Martha out but she knocks a glass over. Cash notices the fumes and tells everyone to get away from the vents and cover their noses and mouths. Still chatting on the phone, Justin and Jasmine are confused when they are locked out. Cash tells Mackenzie to call 000, report a toxic contamination and ask for a hazmat team. He says the building need to be quarantined and they’re in lockdown.

As emergency vehicles arrive outside, Cash, on the stairs, calls down to John and Roo, telling them he thinks it’s organophosphate, a pesticide. Roo protests her friends and family are upstairs but Cash tells them to go and tell the team what’s going on. Justin and Jasmine remain confused on the balcony. John calls up to them to stay where they are. The hazmat team leader tells John and Roo they’ll have to go through decontamination. John passes on Cash’s information. Logan turns up and crosses the barrier, after explaining to Roo that anyone contaminated could pass it on. John tells the hazmat leader that Logan’s a doctor and he is sent to check with the ambulance crew.

Cash directs Mackenzie and her staff to seal off the air vents. He takes a phone call from the hazmat team. Marilyn checks on Irene, saying she just has a headache. Alf leaves Martha with Roo and tells Cash they need to get her to hospital. Cash, who has been ordering a ladder, insists they have to follow protocols. People panic when the lights go off. Cash assures them it’s just the power being cut to stop the air con. Downstairs, John, in a protective suit, leaves the hazmat team in. He says the gym was closed before it started. One of the team detects something in there and leads them in, saying it’s the source. They find Tane, barely alive. John goes to get a stretcher.

Logan has set up a decontamination tent outside and convinces Roo to go through it and wait for her parents at the hospital. Justin and Jasmine come down the ladder as Tane is brought out. Logan grabs a medical kit from the ambulance crew and goes to help despite not wearing any protective gear, with Jasmine helping. Logan tries to intubate but has to resort to a tracheotomy. Upstairs, Martha is loaded into a chair. The hazmat leader refuses to let Alf go with her and Alf is forced to back down.

Everyone else is herded downstairs and let out two at a time, to Alf’s increasing frustration. Justin comes in to check on Leah, just before she faints, with the hazmat leader calling for the ambulance crew. Tane is on his way to hospital in the ambulance with Logan. Back at the surf club, Mackenzie tells Cash she’s checked upstairs and it’s clear. He sends her outside as Jasmine comes in to check on Cash. He sees the evidence bag coming out of the gym containing the red rose. As he goes through decon, he has flashbacks to Felicity saying Tane accused her of stalking him, coming across the two of them arguing and Tane insisting Felicity was the one leaving the roses.

Cash and Jasmine go to the hospital. Cash looks around: Irene, Leah and Marilyn are all receiving oxygen, with Justin sitting by Leah, while Alf and Roo are waiting anxiously outside a cubicle where Martha is hooked up to machines. Tane arrests nearby and Cash watches as Logan tries to revive him.
