Kirsty defies her parents with disastrous consequences. Floss has a disturbing premonition.

Extended Summary

Surf Club
Alf welcomes guests. Floss looks distant and worried. She tells Alf that she’s had a premonition that something bad is going to happen that night. Alf is dismissive and laughs, telling her she could be a comedian. Floss is serious – whatever it is is getting closer by the minute.

MV Mirigini – Crew Room
Kirsty questions Kane – why is he on the boat? He tries to explain that he works on board, showing her the Mirigini label on his shirt but she snaps at him, telling him to stay away from Dani. Kane is shocked that she is also aboard and Kirsty calls him a “sick freak”. She opens the door slightly and looks out. Shelley and Rhys are nearby. She closes the door again, glaring at Kane.

Wharf
Blake drags Sophie towards the boat, yelling at people to get out of the way and “Hold the boat!” They leap aboard just in time and join Sally, Flynn and Stephen. Blake jokes to them that they only made the decision to come a couple of minutes beforehand. The horn sounds and the boat starts moving, getting further away from shore. On board, all is well and Dani/Josh and Noah/Hayley wave goodbye to the people on the shore.

MV Mirigini – Crew RoomKirsty takes another look outside but Rhys and Shelley are still there.

Surf Club
Brodie and Jade talk about the fireworks later. Jade is concerned about the weather – there is an incoming storm. They don?t think Kirsty would be stupid enough to sneak out to see the fireworks – they’ve never seen Shelley so mad.

MV Mirigini – Crew Room
Kane asks Kirsty to leave – he’ll be in trouble if the skipper catches her in there. Kirsty is annoyed – she doesn’t want to be there. She takes another look outside and can’t see Rhys and Shelley. She walks out but is immediately spotted by Rhys and Shelley, who are not far away. Shelley is mad.

Surf Club
Martin and Lance discuss the car trade – Martin reckons more money car be earned in the luxury car trade these days. Martin suggests a name for a car company – “reach for the sky motor mechanics”! Lance says it’s all very well in theory.

At the kiosk, Brodie tells Alex that the cruise has left. Leah comments on how much food is being eaten.

Alf practises his speech to Celia but isn’t appreciative of her helpful comments. Celia approaches Sam, Fisher, June and Seb and comments on how cosy it must be in Fisher’s house now. June links arms with Fisher and agrees. Once Celia is gone June apologises for being so upfront. Fisher is embarrassed but says he is inept in these matters.

MV Mirigini – Deck
Blake and Sophie joke about their sudden decision to come on the cruise.
Shelley, Rhys and Kirsty come onto the deck. Shelley is kicking off at Kirsty, telling her she was grounded. Kirsty tries to tell them that Kane is on board but Rhys and Shelley refuse to listen to what she has to say. Shelley doesn’t want to continue the argument in case she says something she regrets so she and Rhys head indoors. Kirsty stands alone at the front of the boat, upset.

Surf Club
Floss is feeling strange and Frank is concerned, but laughs as a gust of wind sweeps into the diner – “you got wind of that before the rest of us”. Jade wonders where her parents are as Alf begins his speech, welcoming people to the 100th anniversary of Summer bay – “the best little town in Australia”. He says it’s great to have so many old residents join them for the occasion. He thanks Leah and Alex for the food and reminds everyone about the firework display later. He is cheered by the party but Floss looks solemn.

MV Mirigini
Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves as party music plays throughout the boat.

Darkness falls on the boat and everyone has calmed down slightly. Sally and Flynn gaze out to sea, admiring the view and Matt and Carly discuss their lives and children. Paris and Irene spot an electrical storm out to sea. Irene hopes that it stays well away from them.

Dani, Josh, Hayley and Noah walks across the boat. Dani sees Kirsty and warns her that Shelley and Rhys are on board – and she shouldn?t be there. Kirsty tells Dani she knows and alerts Dani to the fact that Kane is on board. Dani is stressed and Josh demands to know where exactly Kane is. Kirsty tells him and he storms off. Dani goes to find Flynn.

The storm is approaching the boat and Rhys mutters that he should have taken more than 3 swimming lessons. Stephen talks to Rhys about his life overseas. Josh comes to have a talk with Rhys. Shelley looks curious as Josh pulls Rhys aside and Rhys goes off with Josh.

MV Mirigini – Crew Room
Josh and Rhys storm in, taking Kane by surprise as he is working. They demand to know what he?s playing at and if he’s following Dani. He tells them to lay off – he’s trying to do his job. Rhys warns him to stay away from Dani. Flynn enters and Kane mutters “Geez, not more of you”. Flynn tells Rhys he had no idea that Kane was on board. Rhys wonders why Kirsty didn?t tell him about Kane being on board earlier.

MV Mirigini – Deck
The boat sway violently. The storm is approaching fast. Irene and Paris joke about the storm, saying that they if they ever got round to organising a date, it?s probably be a disaster. A gust of wind sweeps across the deck.

Shelley is furious at Kirsty for not telling them that Kane was on board sooner. Kirsty says that she tried to tell them but they wouldn’t listen – besides, she told Dani. Shelley has a go at her, telling her that she acted irresponsibly towards her sister. Kirsty says that she might as well admit it – she hates her. But it’s ok – the feeling is mutual. Kirsty storms off. Shelley walks the other way, glancing anxiously around at the other passenger who witnessed the argument.
Josh tells Dani that Kane won?t be coming near her. Dani is mad at him – she doesn’t need him interfering. The mediation was about her putting everything behind her. Dani walks off.

They boat sways dangerously

Surf ClubLance and Martin argue about setting up a business – Martin insists they can’t have two bosses and Lance isn’t impressed that he would be the ‘assistant’
Alf asks some of the blokes to help him bring in some eqipment from outside before it gets blown away.

MV Mirigini – Engine room
The engine room is flooding. Kane turns on the pumps and exits.

Kane staggers through the crowds and runs into Josh. Josh is not happy that he isn?t staying out of sight. Kane tells him he needs to see the captain – now. Dani persuades Josh to step aside and let Kane through.

MV Mirigini – Control room
Kane stumbles in and tells the captain that the engine room is taking on water and the pumps don’t seem to be working. He is told to make sure they are working.The captain says that they are turning back and to let the crew know. He warns Kane not to tell the passengers – the last thing they need is 100 panicked passengers.

Surf Club
People carry chairs in from outside. They are amazed at the weather. Nick is distressed that he can’t help with his bad back. Alf tells everyone to hurry – this is only the start of the storm. Jade worries about everyone on the ferry. Floss is anxious.

MV Mirigini
The boat continues to sway dangerously. Blake apologises to Sophie for bringing her on board. Hayley panics about Irene – she can’t see her. Flynn is concerned about Sally and goes to look for her.

Surf Club
Alf assures everyone that the boat should be on its way back. Jade worries about if the weather is as bad for them.
They decide to call Dani’s mobile and find out what’s going on. The light goes out.

MV Mirigini – Engine room
The water is getting deeper. Kane struggles with the pumps with no success.

MV Mirigini
Kane makes his way across the deck again. All of the passengers are anxious. He gets onto the deck, where Kirsty is sheltering under the stairs. He passes her, telling her that everything will be alright. He skids his way across the deck. He tells the captain that the water is getting deeper and he can’t stop it and is told that the engine is dead. Kane is instructed to get everyone into life jackets.

Dani struggles to hear what Fisher is saying down the phone. She says that everyone is alright but the storm is really bad.

Kirsty stumbles into the room. Kane follows shortly after. He makes the announcement that everyone must put on lifejackets. Dani’s phone drops and smashes down onto the floor in the commotion that follows.
Dani panics because Josh hasn’t put his lifejacket on. He has to calm her down. Noticing that Kane is having trouble with distressed passengers fighting over lifejackets, Josh goes to help him.

Irene finds Noah and Hayley. Irene is anxious about Paris. She goes to find him and tells Hayley to stay with Noah.

Seb hands Kirsty a lifejacket, but she doesn’t put it on. She tries desperately to find Shelley. They see each other over the ship and cry out to one another as water sweeps through the deck.

Surf Club
Everyone waits anxiously in the dark for news. Floss asks Jade if her parents decided not to come. Jade says they should be there. Alf picks up something through the radio:-
“This is a distress call from the MV Mirigini out of Summer Bay. We are adrift and taking on water. I have given the order to abandon ship. I repeat, we are launching life rafts and are about to abandon ship. Mayday, mayday, mayday”.
