Extended Summary

Tug and Sarah enjoy an early morning swim and when they come out of the sea, Tug declares his love for her and as they kiss, they are unaware they’re being watched by Bill, who’s sitting on the rocks, a short distance from them. Meanwhile, Luke has woken up and on finding Bill missing, dashes outside to look for him. He’s just returned and tells him where he’s been and then offers to make breakfast. As he goes inside, Fin arrives and tries to put things right with Luke but he’s not in the forgiving mood and when she suggests they all go down to the beach, he tells her they have other plans. Sarah has returned home and has invited Tug back for breakfast. Alf comes in and mistakenly thinks Sarah’s prepared his breakfast and is horrified to see Tug there, yet again. He comments that he always seems to be there at meal times and is not pleased to find they’ve had the last of the bacon and eggs. Down at the store, Tug tells Alf how lucky he is to have a girlfriend like Sarah and says he’s thinking of buying her a present. When Alf points out he doesn’t have any money, Tug just shrugs his shoulders, just as Damian arrives with Pippa’s order. After telling Alf that Michael will pick it up later, Tug turns to him for suggestions and he thinks a friendship ring would be an ideal gift. At the Diner, Bobby compliments Sarah on how her friendship with Tug has changed him for the better and she gets embarrassed. When she goes over to Angel and tells her what Bobby said, she admits she’s a little concerned that things are moving too fast between them. Damian arrives and when he suggests they all go bowling later, the girls accept and Sarah thinks Tug won’t object. Having finished breakfast, Bill asks Luke what Fin wanted and he tells him about going to the beach but turned her down because he thought he would prefer to go for a walk with him. When Bill says he liked to go to the beach, Luke agrees and they go over to collect Fin and as Bill helps Michael prepare some food to take with them, Fin and Luke resolves their differences. On the beach, Bill is loving every minute as he plays ball with Fin, Luke and Roxy but Peter Begg comes along and has bad news for Luke about the musical. Luke and Roxy go to the Surf Club to discuss the implications of Peter being forced to choose between the musical or losing his job. Adam finds himself being eyed up as a suitable replacement when he suggests they find someone else to take the role over. He’s all for it until Luke mentions it’s a woman’s role he’d be playing and he refuses point blank to do it because it would mean wearing a dress. Back on the beach, Fin and Bill are having a great time and as he rubs the suntan lotion on her back, he tells her he wishes Luke wouldn’t treat him like a kid. Roxy drags Luke off to go and find someone else.

Tug returns to the store, having done the deliveries in record time and persuades Alf to give him the job once he’s paid his debt to him for the tyre slashing incident. Michael comes in to pick up the groceries as Tug goes to sweep out the storeroom. Alf admits to Michael that Tug’s a good worker and having a girlfriend like Sarah has worked wonders for him but he can’t help wondering how long it will last. A little later, Tug tries to talk Alf into giving him a sub but it falls on deaf ears because Alf reckons he’s always round at his place eating his food and that’s payment in kind, in his book.

Luke introduces Bill to Fisher in the Diner but Bill’s more interested in the Juke Box and leaves Luke and Roxy talking about losing one of the main characters for the musical. They laugh about Adam’s reluctance to taking the role over because of having to wear a dress and Fisher jumps in and says he’s not available either but Luke had no intention of asking him anyway. Fisher then leaves and as Luke phones around for someone to take on the part, Fin learns from Roxy that Bill’s disability was due to an accident when he was little which left him brain damage. Bill comes over and gives her a shell he’d found on the beach earlier. Bobby take a lunch break, leaving Fin in charge and she goes home to try to convince Adam to take on the role but he won’t be persuaded. Tug comes out of his room with a clock he plans to sell for 50 bucks, so he can buy the ring for Sarah. Adam thinks he’s mad because as far as he’s concerned, relationships don’t last but Tug retorts that he and Sarah are forever. Tug goes over to see Sarah, who’s going over the lines with Angel and Damian. When she tells him about the bowling, he says he has other plans for her and will pick her up later. She feels awkward when Angel comments on her not going bowling with them. Adam goes over to the Diner and tells Bobby about Tug’s plans to raise some money and she thinks he’s being a bit hard on him. When Bobby, Fin, Luke and Roxy start goading him about not taking on the role, he relents and says he’ll do it, to stop them going on about it. Luke and Bill go home with Fin and she tells Michael they had a great time and persuades Luke to let her show Bill some of the sights of the Bay. She invites him to join them but he tells her he’s got to go somewhere.

Damian decides to go home, now that the bowling had been cancelled and Angel tells Sarah she thinks Tug is controlling her and Sarah looks worried.

Luke goes over to see Fisher, who jokes about not trying to get him to take part in the musical and they have a good laugh, when Luke tells him Adam has agreed to do it. Luke steers the conversation around to Bill’s stay in the Bay and tells him that he goes to a special school in the city.

It ends with Luke asking Fisher if Bill can go to Summer Bay High but Fisher has doubts…
