Jade was first seen attending one of Dean Thompson’s surfing lessons. She was staying at the caravan park and he invited her along. Ryder took an immediate interest in her. She opened up that she took a gap year during university and never returned, preferring the backpacker lifestyle. Ziggy took note that Jade was flirting with Dean and pretending not to struggle with the lesson, leaving her suspicious. At Ryder’s suggestion, Jade was hired at Salt. She met Alf and Martha for a brief minute and blanked them when they saw her again in the Caravan Park. After they walked away, she said goodbye to an attractive man who had spent the night with her.
Ryder spent a night out on the town with Jade and wasn’t feeling the best at work the following day. After she helped him fix a mistake with a customer’s change, Jade and Ryder shared a kiss in the back room. Jade tried to drop hints that she wanted to take things further with Ryder, but the signals went over his head. They went on a picnic date and after a passionate kiss, Jade asked Ryder back to her caravan. Ryder rushed off to freshen up and Roo introduced herself in the meantime, asking Jade to come to the house for dinner. Jade rejected her rudely, stating she was not interested. After lying and telling Ryder that she got questioned from Roo, Ryder confronted her, ordering her to stay out of his business. Ryder went back to Jade and the pair slept together.
Whilst working one night, Ryder saw Jade pocket a $50 note. She claimed it was a tip, but Ryder was sceptical. When Mackenzie balanced the till and found it was exactly $50 down. Ryder covered by stating he put money in his pocket while it was busy, but when he questioned Jade, she dismissed it. Instead, she suggested the pair go back to her van together. The next morning when he raised the situation again, she threw him out. He tried to apologise, which led to Jade opening up about her home life. Her dad walked out on her mother years ago and she’d been sending her wages home to help the family. As a result, she’d fallen behind on her rent at the caravan park. He organised an extension for her, but she continued to pocket money from Salt. The following week, Jade gave her final payments to be up to date on her rent. Once again, Ryder caught Jade putting money in her pocket. She tried to convince Ryder not to tell Mackenzie, but he refused to listen. Jade capitulated, promising to tell her in the morning. She failed to do so, and Ryder told Mackenzie the truth. As a result, Jade promised that Ryder would regret it and Mackenzie called the police and had her arrested.
After her interview, Jade and Ryder apologised to each other and the pair went back to her caravan. While he was getting undressed, she set up a camera and proceeded to film them while they had sex. She uploaded the video and accused Ryder of doing it without her consent, resulting in his arrest. He confronted her about her lies, where she reminded him that she is seen as the victim, leaving him hurt. He came across Jade on the beach one day, and when she called him over, she put on an act that he was stalking her. Newcomer Nikau Parata stepped in and walked Jade to Salt for a drink, warning Ryder to stay away.
Jade was met with a frosty reception from Martha and Roo as she paid her rent with Nikau in tow, and baited Ryder. She was caught pocketing money by Nikau, which led to him growing suspicious of her. When he confronted her, she tried to seduce him but he turned her down. She stormed off, stating that Nikau was worse than Ryder. That night, Jade called Nikau to Salt and grovelled. She began kissing him in the storeroom and as she took her shirt off, Nikau saw her phone hidden on one of the shelves. He realised she had tried to record them having sex and walked away with her phone. She arrived at Nikau’s house, demanding her phone back, but after Nikau stated Ryder had it, Ari slammed the door in her face.
Jade ransacked Summer Bay House while Alf and Martha’s wedding reception was taking place, but thanks to Nikau, Ryder was able to stop her finding the phone. Alf ordered her to pack her bags and leave his property.
Ryder gave Jade’s phone to Colby, with the timestamp of the original video on there proving his innocence. When Roo asked Colby whether Jade would be charged, he told her the police would be talking to her.
With Jade having already left town, we never learned whether the police had caught up with her.
*Although Jade claimed to have a younger sister, Avalon, this was part of a sob story she was feeding Ryder as an excuse for stealing from Salt. We can’t be certain whether she was telling the truth.
