Ivan gave Aden a day’s casual work on his boat while he was hard up for cash.When he gave him his day’s wages, Aden asked him for more work but Ivan told him he didn’t have anything. He later summoned Angelo to the beach when one of his deckhands found some bags full of abalone on the beach. He told Angelo that he thought someone had set up an abalone racket and that it would only take a boat, local knowledge and a refrigerated truck. He identified a knife, similar to one Angelo had seen Hugo with, as an abalone knife.
