Connie Callahan

Connie was the mother of Tegan Callahan and grandmother of Darcy. She became Darcy’s guardian after Tegan was killed in the storm of 2011 and first appeared at Tegan’s funeral, being comforted by Elijah. She initially had a civil relationship with Darcy’s father Heath, but was deeply opposed to the idea of Darcy going to live with Heath and Bianca, claiming that Heath knew nothing about her. DoCS ruled in her favour, meaning Heath was unable to see Darcy without her permission. Her hostility increased when she believed Heath had taken Darcy from school without consulting her. Although it turned out Adam Sharpe had taken her as leverage against Heath, Connie still blamed him and forced him to tell Darcy the truth.

Things were increasingly tense between them as Connie twice cancelled scheduled visits at the last minute. She let Heath have Darcy overnight but Heath responded by taking her to the beach next day instead of to school, prompting Connie to send Constable Stevenson to bring her home. When Heath told her he was getting counselling, Connie moved interstate with Darcy. Heath decided not to pursue the matter through the courts.

Connie again became caught up in the Braxtons’ dealings when Adam had Ricky transfer $100,000 to her from the Angelo’s account. Connie believed Heath had stolen it, widening the rift between them. Eventually, Ricky told her the truth and she returned to Summer Bay with Darcy. She offered to put Heath’s name on the birth certificate and allow sleepovers and unsupervised access if he promised to never go for full access. Heath refused to abandon the idea for good and, seeing him and Darcy together, Connie agreed to move back to the area, put his name on the birth certificate and allow proper access.

The following year, Connie was convinced to support Heath with DoCS after Darcy broke her arm in his care. However, when she found out Heath was hoping Darcy would move to the city with him, Bianca and Harley, she was again opposed to him having custody and banned Darcy from seeing him. It took Brax to convince her to let Darcy visit to say goodbye. During the night, Connie caught Darcy trying to run away and let her spend the last day with Heath and Harley. Seeing them together and realising they were a family, she changed her mind and let Darcy go with Heath.
