I think Matt lived in his old place before his folks sold up.

Bobby/Charlene - Too Close to call. Both Iconic but Charlene is referenced more often these days. Probably would be mates in a crossover.

Sue Parker carried on being a bitch into her 40s, whereas Allison straightened out.

Mrs Mangel is arguably more Iconic than Ceils.

Hard to call that one.

Roo/Frank/Bobby. The other triangle was as temp thing.

Let's hope the writers make this triangle still relevant for the 30th anniversary.

I assume Charlene is referenced more because Kylie is still very visible.

How do we know Allison straightened out?

I just read that Steven got married, who did he marry?

Did something happen off screen between Frank and Allison Patterson? While talking to Phil, He made reference to her being called the Summer Bay vampire I assume because of the way she kisses.

It's also do with the fact Charlene has a Brother-in-law (Paul) , 2 Nephews, A Niece and a Great Nephew currently populating the street. And one of her old mates, Clive is currently in and out as The Hospital Registrar.?

Alison was supposedly a radio host by 2000 after getting her Uni Degree. This came about in the Sally/Kieran non-wedding post-mortem where the family, Lance and Floss were just chatting and bsing about old times. That came up during the itching powder/wedding dress backfire reference.

It was dark-ish. Towards the end of 1999 we were getting some funny stuff from the likes of Vinnie and Edward.

2000 brought back the sunny feel for a bit.

2003/4 IMO laid the seeds for today as I said before.

1996-1998 was quite dark but it did lighten up again by 1999 until 2004 it seems. Still dramatic but not dark. 1988-1994, 1999-2005 seem to be the fluffiest periods for the show.

Neighbours got darker in 1992.

H&A is never boring unlike rubbish like Midsomer Murders and Mrs Marple. Midsomer is very outdated and twee and slow, hence why I can never get into it. Yet H&A is the total opposite of shows like Midsomer and Miss Marple. Yes the murder rate is fairly high in H&A but you can say the same about EastEnders, Corrie etc, which are modern shows like H&A is.

Mmm. I would say 1998 wasn't  dark at all. Yes there were some sad stories. Lachie and Kylie.

But Vinnie was particularly funny in this year:

getting himself roped into a porn movie,

getting his stripper job,

trying to be a band manager

selling coffins!

admitting he was a virgin

More so than in 2000 when he actually became less funny once Leah was introduced. There were manygreat comical momentswith Marilyn and Donald throughout the late 90s too in particular 1998. Both together and individually. Diana although evil could also be funny at times.

Alf also had some great flaming moments in 1998 and 1999. Much more reminiscent of 1994 Alf than previous years.

Joey was great fun dressing up as josie and then vinnie selling the story saying he was a transsexual.

After having a very serious 97 Irene also was back to her comical self in 98 with the pretending to be an expert typist. 1999 countinued with this mix of dram and comedy to the same extent but I'd say with more over dramatised stories. It was a much more light hearted show that any year in the 00s. The two aren't exclusive either. For example 2001 wasn't a particularly dark year, it wasn't exactly much to laugh at either.

Clive is back?!?!?! Do any of the current cast know him? ? Home and Away could learn a thing about continuity from Neighbours.

Did Allison get her HSC from Summer Bay high?

Dunno. She dropped out at the end of 1988 but must have taken TAFE courses and gotten some kind of equivalency or went to school elsewhere.

Clive would naturally know Paul and does work with Karl. He also had a small thing with Sheila Canning (Current Waterhole Landlady, lives in the old Robinson/Martin/Scully place, Number 26, played by Collette Mann who was temp Cheryl in 1995-96)

And PMSL at the picture.

I'm going to use"special cuddles" from now on ????

Another inconsistency - Bobby gave her permission to Roo to go to the city to be with Frank yet got upset when she heard they were together. When Frank returned Bobby told him that he left her and married Roo...um Bobby dear, didn't you give Roo your  permission?

Good. Everyone should use "special cuddles"

Giving permission didn't mean that it didn't hurt. She was letting someone she cared about do what she thought was right for them even if it's not right for you...
