Home and Away Spoilers – Will Alf’s hurt pride overshadow Archie’s birthday?

Next week on Home and Away in the UK, as Archie’s first birthday celebrations get underway, Alf’s hurt pride and Sonny’s slow recovery threaten to overshadow the big day.

When Archie turned one a few weeks ago, it was hoped that dad Tane (Ethan Browne) would be released in time to join the celebrations, having finally been proven innocent.

After some delays, the news finally came that Tane was being released that very day, but as Harper (Jessica Redmayne) and Archie started off the day with cupcakes at the diner, things were quickly overshadowed by the news that Tane had been attacked and was being rushed to hospital.

Three weeks on, with Tane finally having been brought out of his induced coma, preparations began for a belated celebration.

Sonny (Ryan Bown) threw himself into helping organise a belated party for when Tane was well enough to attend, wanting to make himself useful after moving back in with Dana (Ally Harris) and Harper at the pier apartment.

Meanwhile, Archie’s ‘honorary grandfather’ Alf (Ray Meagher) has been caught up in the aftermath of Abigail’s (Hailey Pinto) hit-and-run, after she was clipped by a red ute near Banksia Creek—the same area where Alf had been fishing early that morning.

Although Alf insists he wasn’t involved, the suspicion has shaken him. Probationary Constable Richie (Rocco Forrester-Sach) also wasted no time in telling Abby that Alf was responsible for the incident, despite the case still being open.

At the end of this week, Abby was nervous as Alf approached her in the surf club asking if they could have a quick chat.

Next week, we pick up the conversation in Salt, with Alf hoping she can remember something that will rule him out. Abby explains that everything happened quickly and that she only saw a red ute, but Alf keeps pressing for more detail.

When he pushes her on what size the vehicle was and whether it could have been a four-wheel drive, Abby becomes increasingly uncomfortable.

Alf’s desperation gets the better of him and he snaps that she needs to try harder, as this is his life that’s being affected.

Arriving on the scene, Richie steps in, accusing Alf of harassing her. Alf quickly realises he’s gone too far and apologises to Abby before leaving.

Later chatting with Leah (Ada Nicodemou) and Justin (James Stewart), Alf admits he only wanted answers, but accepts that he came on too strongly.

The incident leaves him questioning himself again, as he wonders whether everyone else may be right and he really is starting to lose his marbles.

Alf then goes straight to David (Jeremy Lindsay Taylor) for an update, but forensics are still examining his ute, leaving Alf in limbo.

Later, David arrives at Summer Bay House with the results. Forensics have finally cleared Alf’s vehicle, with no damage linking it to the accident.

At first, Alf is relieved that the case is finally closed, before David gently tells him that it’s not quite that simple. All that’s been proven is that there’s no evidence pointing to his involvement, but the case remains open.

David points out that unless new evidence comes to light, Alf doesn’t have anything to worry about. But for Alf, that isn’t enough.

Back at the diner, he tells Leah and Justin that since the result doesn’t prove his innocence, he’ll no longer be driving. With that, he hands his car keys over to Justin.

After being taken to the station in front of the whole surf club, and after Roo (Georgie Parker) also questioned whether he could have been responsible, Alf feels that the whole of Summer Bay will be watching the next time he gets behind the wheel.

Meanwhile, Harper is making plans for the party, telling Leah that she wants to hold it once Tane is out of hospital.

At Salt, Mackenzie (Emily Weir) then gets the update everyone has been waiting for. Levi (Tristan Gorey) calls to say that Tane is well enough to leave hospital, and Mac immediately starts planning where he should stay whilst he recovers.

Eden (Stephanie Panozzo) offers to have him with her and Cash (Nicholas Cartwright), but Mac points out that her place has more space, as well as Levi on hand if Tane needs medical support.

Tane’s soon brought back to the farmhouse, where Mac and Levi fuss over him as they settle him in. Tane thanks them, but they’re thrown when he makes it clear he doesn’t want their help.

Stepping out the room, Levi tells Mac that Tane is physically well enough to be home, but he’s been through a lot and will need some time.

Harper then arrives with Archie, giving Tane the reunion he’s been waiting for. Archie is happy to see his dad, and Harper raises the idea of holding the delayed birthday party.

Mac offers to host the party at the farmhouse so Tane doesn’t have to go anywhere. Tane agrees, suggesting they could hold it tomorrow, though he remains somewhat subdued.

Later, Mac checks in with him, wondering if the split from Jo (Maddison Brown) is the reason for his being downhearted, but Tane insists it isn’t.

After everything that’s happened, he admits it feels strange to be here at all. He thought his life was over, and part of him still fears it could all fall apart again.

Mac encourages him to look forward. Tane takes that in—he’s free, he’s safe, and he’ll get to celebrate his son’s birthday.

That evening, Harper drops off an invitation for Alf, explaining that the party is taking place the next day at the farmhouse.

She tells him that Archie can’t have a party without his honorary grandad there, but once Harper leaves, Alf is left unsure.

The next morning, Leah and Justin find Alf fishing and try to encourage him, but he says he isn’t going. He doesn’t feel like socialising, and when Harper later collects the cake from the diner, Leah gently warns her not to expect him.

When Harper arrives at the farmhouse with Archie, Tane is lifted by the sight of his son dressed in his korowai.

He shows Archie the decorations, telling him that he once imagined a hangi for his first birthday, with all of his whānau around him.

Instead, his Summer Bay whānau are there.

The party gets underway, with Marilyn (Emily Symons) arriving with a birth chart for Archie, whilst Sonny tries to assemble the wooden trike he and Dana have bought as a present.

Mali (Kyle Shilling) also arrives, bringing Archie’s gift and a more awkward update for Tane.

He admits that he and John have reopened Summer Bay Fit, despite Tane previously telling them not to.

Mali braces himself for a backlash, but Tane accepts that they were only trying to help and thanks him for stepping up.

Though Tane and Harper perhaps won’t be quite as grateful when they unwrap the gift Mali has brought along for Archie… a drum!

The one absence still being felt is Alf’s, so Levi heads to Summer Bay House to check on him. Alf admits he’s embarrassed, and that the question of what happened on the road will always be hanging over him.

Levi reassures him that Abby doesn’t hold anything against him, and informs him that Harper was disappointed when she heard he wasn’t coming. He also points out that Alf promised to be Archie’s honorary grandad.

That finally gets through to Alf. He later arrives at the farmhouse, where Harper is relieved to see him. Alf tells her he wouldn’t have missed it for quids.

With Alf there, the celebration can properly continue. He joins Archie for a photo, before everyone gathers for the cake and sings happy birthday.

There’s also a piñata for the guests to tackle. Mali steps up first, but Levi mischievously keeps moving it out of reach as Mali swings at it blindfolded.

Sonny then insists on taking a turn of his own, standing on his crutches as he lines up the shot. But he nearly loses his balance as he swings, leaving him embarrassed as he tries to brush it off.

Before the party ends, Tane thanks Harper for making sure he didn’t miss the celebration, telling her it’s been a great day.

For Sonny, however, the afternoon has come at a cost. Dana has already been keeping an eye on him, asking whether he wanted his wheelchair from the car, but Sonny insisted he was able to handle a one-year-old’s birthday party.

After pushing through the day on his crutches, and working on Archie’s trike, it’s clear he’s struggling as he gets back into the car.

Once they get home, Sonny is forced to admit that he doesn’t think he can make it back up the stairs to the apartment.

John comes over after a call from Dana and helps them get Sonny upstairs. Embarrassed and exhausted, Sonny admits how frustrating it feels to keep hitting setbacks just when he thinks he’s making progress.

Dana tries to reassure him that recovery isn’t straightforward, but he loses his appetite and heads to bed early.

Later that night, still awake, Sonny texts John and asks if they can talk in the morning. He wants to make some changes.

What does Sonny have in mind?
