So, you're saying it's all right to stab your best friend in the back if you haven't been friends that long?I don't know what they're doing to the character.I loved April last year when she was with Xavier and hated her when she broke up with him and turned into a complete cow.I've only started liking her again since they've been back together and now you've got Dexter sniffing around her, apparently not caring that she's in a relationship!What happened to the sweet, kind-hearted Dex?Since when did he get turned into some selfish loser who thinks "We're meant to be together" is a good reason for doing the dirty on a friend?He should steer clear while she's with someone else and April should put him straight that she's already got a boyfriend.I really hate the way the writers seem to be trying to make out that Xavier and April aren't compatible because April and Dexter laugh at the same things and Xavier looks confused, they're one of the most happy and relaxed couples on the show and they're being ruined for some random pairing because no-one can figure out what to do with Dex so they've decided to turn April into another girl cheating on Xavier.

But he hasn't acted upon it yet, although I haven't seen last night's episode yet.

No my point was that Xavier and Dex are hardly even friends. They got put together for that science project and April is really the only thing they have in common. I know they've become sort of friends lately, but I still don't see it as a massive betrayal of a "best friend" Plus, it's not like he's been actively "going after her". OK the Kate thing was a misguided attempt to get a reaction from April, but it was hardly in the same league as Ruby going after Romeo. I don't think Dex has done anythig wrong, yet

Although I will agree that it's a bit rubbish that the writers are putting Xavier in this position yet again, even if I don't like him much. They obviously only put him and April back together to facilitate Dex/April.

We all know you hate pairings that have little to no contact until feelings start to appear in the situation or you like someone before hand, and you have every right.... from the little I've seen, Dex hasn't done anything wrong.... YET.... but you can hardly say they are best friends, I've barely seen them interact at all, apart from when it comes to April....

I dont like Xavier, never have, probably never will, he does not act like he is 18 years old.... more like he's 2! but I also dont go much on April.... her character never interested me when she first came in... so I dont care what happens either way!

P.S.... I dont want you to think that was me having a go! I can just see where your coming from.... thats all

I get what people are saying but personally it seems to me that Xavier and Dexter are as much friends as Dexter and April.Yes, they didn't have anything to do with each other until the science comp but that was three months ago now and since then they've been hanging around and socialising quite a bit, Dexter always seemed to be with Xav when he was seeing Miranda.Dexter and April had only started hanging out a couple of weeks before that yet there's apparently a deep connection between them.I think the comparison with Ruby is apt:A lot of people jumped on her but she'd only been friends with Indi and Romeo for a comparable amount of time Dexter's been friends with Xavier and April, maybe less, and until they slept together she hadn't made any overt moves on him in my opinion.Dexter using another girl to make April jealous and being on the verge of declaring his feelings before she cut him off seems just as bad.

And don't worry, I don't think anyone's getting at me and I hope they don't think I'm getting at them.

^^^^ It's funny in saying that.... because I havent seen much of the show this year... so I dont know how much interaction Dexter and Xavier actually have had....

But I can actually see where your coming from...

As I said.... I dont like Xavier... never have.... dont go much on April... so dont really care what happens.... but I cant judge on the situation because I can honestly say I have done that myself.... gone after someone who's taken! declaring my feelings.... but what ever happens, happens!

My point about Xavier and Dex not being best friends was only to point out that I don't see Dex's behaviour as being a terrible betrayal of Xavier.

Of course Xavier and April are still together, regardless of what I think of the status of the boys friendship. So yes Dexter is in a difficult position with his feelings and how to act on them.

I was worried when they were doing April's OCD story that they'd put them together right away and it would be one of those typical random H&A teen pairings. The way they've developed their friendship after the OCD has been great.

The way I see it Dex has always been a bit of a loner, not because he wants to be, but because he's never really met anyone that he really connects with, male or female. Then he starts hanging around with April, and they're on the same wavelength, and she kind of shows signs of liking him back. I know from experience that when you're a little bit different, and don't do terribly well in social situations, when you meet someone you do connect with it's a big deal. Obviously other peoples feelings should come into it too, and Dex should think about Xavier, but it's not a situation where Dex could have anyone else, or just get over it and move on.

Simply put, he's a bit of a weirdo, and it's a big deal that he's found someone who's equally as weird, so he has to weigh up what's more important to him. Kind of being friends with Xavier, or his feelings for April, who just by the way I think is actually Dex's best friend.

I take the point and I accept that a hormonal teenager might not act rationally.But I think it's simplistic to act as though Dexter's got one chance with April and if he doesn't go for it he'll be alone for the rest of his life.I agree that she's his best friend, Xavier's probably his male best friend, but that's perhaps the problem, it does seem as though he's confusing friendship for something else and April hasn't really given any sign that she sees him as more than a friend.Dexter has been interested in other girls, other girls have been interested in him.Maybe none have connected to him as much as April has but that doesn't mean he has to date her and damn the consequences.He has a choice between doing the right thing and possibly being unhappy in the short term or doing what he thinks is best for him and potentially hurting a lot of people.

Of course that makes sense if you look at it in a reasonable and sensible way, as you are, but Dex is what? 16? Everything seems more important that it is when you're 16. Of course not hooking up with April isn't going to mean he's alone for the rest of his life, but at 16 it probably seems like that's exactly what it means.

Fair enough April hasn't exactly encouraged his feelings, but she hasn't discouraged them either. Also, the scene where he was starting to tell her and she told him not to because it would ruin everything. I took that as her trying to deny whatever it is between them. As in, if we never actually say it out loud then we don't have to deal with it. I mean if she really had no interest in Dex at all she shouldn't have really had a problem with him telling her how he felt. She's very upfront and honest about things, so I'd have thought if she didn't like him back she'd just have told him and tried to deal with it out in the open.

I think the main issue here is that the writers rely far too much on the whole love triangle thing to get people together. There are lots of ways they could have had April and Dex get together without dragging Xavier back into the mix. I don't really care about Xavier, and I do like April and Dex together, but, I don't necessarily like the fact that once again a couple is getting together behind someones back.

I really think Dexter hasn't done anything wrong he has feelings for his friends girlfriend who is alsO his best friend. Falling for your best friend is pretty common and you either get over it or get together. I wasn't a big fan of their relationship because I didn't believe Xavier would get over Ruby but nobody was hating on him for moving on so fast.
