It’s Jesse he then smiles] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ROBBIE: Tash, how would you feel if you married someone that didn’t love you back- TASHA: But you do love me- ROBBIE: No, I don’t… I’m sorry… I want to divorce. *** [Tasha reaches the beach, she’s still crying. She sits down and cries louder. Someone behind her puts a hand on her shoulder, Tasha looks up to see this person… It’s Josie!] TASHA: Josie? What are you doing here? JOSIE: Finishing what I started. [Tasha looks confused. Josie smiles] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - MACCA: Ryan… Is not your son Dan. [Macca says smiling] He was never yours. DAN: That’s crazy, of course he’s mine! He has my blood! He’s a Baker! MACCA: Yes! He is a Baker Dan… He’s Peter Baker’s. [Macca says with a cheeky grin] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - AMANDA: Dan? DAN: Is Ryan really my son? [Amanda looks like she’s about to cry, she turns around and looks at Macca whose smiling] AMANDA: No… [Dan doesn’t know what to say, he looks very upset] DAN: Is Ryan, Peter’s son? AMANDA: Yes… It’s true… [Dan lets himself in] I couldn’t tell you! DAN: But you had to tell Macca didn’t you? [They look at Macca, Macca has a cheeky grin] What are you smiling at you idiot? [Dan picks up Macca by the t-shirt] MACCA: You… [Macca laughs. Dan throws a punch towards his nose] AMANDA: Oh my god! Dan! [Macca has a bleeding nose, he tackles Dan to the ground] Guy’s stop it! DAN: Are you enjoying this mate? [Macca punches Dan in the mouth, Dan falls to the floor] AMANDA: Macca, stop it! You’re scaring me! [Macca keeps punching Dan, who looks out of it. Amanda looks over to the coffee table, where Macca’s gun lies. Dan rolls on top and gets control of the fight] Dan stop it, I’m not joking! [Dan punches Macca harder each time] You’re killing him! Stop it! [Amanda looks back at Macca’s gun. She runs over to it and struggles to pick it up because she’s scared. She closes her eyes and pulls the trigger. There’s total silence] EPISODE TWENTY TWO: In This Hour of Death, Part ll 12:11am THE VALE MANSION-LOUNGEROOM-NIGHT [Amanda slowly opens her eyes and her mouth drops. She looks at the gun and slowly drops it. Dan is looking at Amanda very slowly, he has blood all over his mouth] DAN: Amanda… What did you do? [Amanda looks upset. Macca is kneeling, slowly, blood begins to drip out of his shirt, he’s been shot in the chest] AMANDA: Oh my God. [Macca falls to the ground] DAN: Call an ambulance! [Amanda stands still looking scared] Amanda! Go! AMANDA: Is he going to be ok? DAN: Just call the ambulance! AMANDA: Dan, is he going to be alright? DAN: Amanda, go! Now! [Amanda runs into the kitchen, Dan looks at Macca] It’ll all be ok mate. [Macca’s eyes begin to roll back, he passes out] AMANDA: Hello? Hello?! I need an ambulance! My husband’s been shot! [PAUSE] I don’t know, I’m not a doctor, in the chest! Can’t you just get an ambulance out here now!? [Dan walks in slowly] Fifty-Two, Sunny Cove road. [Amanda hangs up, they look at each other] DAN: Why me Amanda? AMANDA: What do you mean? DAN: You were yelling at me to stop hurting Macca, then you shot him instead of me… Why? [Amanda looks like she’s about to cry] AMANDA: Isn’t it obvious? [Amanda says trying to cheer herself up, Dan looks confused] Dan… DAN: Amanda, don’t. [Amanda walks slowly to Dan] AMANDA: Why do you think I tried to ruin the wedding? Keep Ryan’s birthfather a secret from you? Saving you tonight? DAN: Amanda… AMANDA: I still love you Dan, always have, always will. [Dan looks emotional] DAN: Don’t Amanda… Just don’t. AMANDA: I love you Dan, nothing is going to take that away from me. And I know on some level, you still love me too. [Amanda’s next to Dan now, they just stare at each other, Dan pulls in for a kiss. They pull away and look at each other. Amanda smiles, she goes back in for a kiss. They move up against the wall and continue to kiss] DAN: Amanda… AMANDA: Shh… [in the lounge room, Macca is still an unconscious] THE BEACH HOUSE-LIVING ROOM-NIGHT [Tasha and Josie are sitting on the lounge having a coffee] JOSIE: I shouldn’t be drinking this stuff, I won’t get any sleep tonight. [Josie says trying to cheer Tasha up] TASHA: You’ll be fine… So why are you back here? Since you’ve came back you’ve just heard about all of my problems. JOSIE: I’ve just missed you guys, being in the city, alone, was pretty depressing. TASHA: Is that the only reason? JOSIE: There could be others. [Josie says with a smile] Did you hear about the fire? [Tasha looks confused] At the prison where Jesse was being held? TASHA: Oh, yeah… I’m sure he’ll be fine wherever he is… It’s Kane we’re more worried about, they still haven’t found him. Jesse’s tough, he’ll pull through it wherever he is. [Tasha says with a smile] THE BEACH-NIGHT [Jesse is walking along the beach, staring into space, he bumps into someone] JESSE: Oh sorry, I should watch where I’m walking next time. [He bumped into Mamma Rose] MAMMA ROSE: No, you’re perfectly fine. [They just stare at each other] Have I seen you before? JESSE: I was about to ask you the same thing, you look familiar. MAMMA ROSE: Where are you from? JESSE: Uh… Prison actually…There was a riot so I took the chance to escape, which I did. MAMMA ROSE: A riot!? [sounding very concerned] Is everybody ok? JESSE: I wouldn’t exactly know… Why do you sound so concerned? MAMMA ROSE: My son’s in prison, I just want to know if he would be ok. [Jesse looks surprised] JESSE: Does your son, by chance, have long brownish hair? MAMMA ROSE: You know him? Jonah? JESSE: Yeah… That’s how I must know you… Seen you in the visiting room or something… MAMMA ROSE: Or something. [Mamma Rose smiles and walks away] JESSE: It was nice meeting you, Miss… MAMMA ROSE: Jacobson. Rose Jacobson. [Mamma Rose smiles and walks away, Jesse now looks confused] JESSE: Jacobson? THE VALE MANSION-OUTSIDE-NIGHT [Macca is being put into the ambulance] AMANDA: Is he going to be alright? AMBO: We really wouldn’t know until he gets to emergency… [The ambo stares at Dan] What happened to you mate? DAN: Sorry? AMBO: The cuts and bruises and the blood…? [Dan and Amanda look at each other] DAN: It’s, it’s a long story… I’m ok though. AMBO: Let me be the one to decide that. Get in. DAN: Pardon? AMBO: The ambulance, hop in so we can take a look at you. [Dan looks at Macca] DAN: Are you sure? AMBO: Mate, hope in. [The ambo says with a smile] AMANDA: Don’t worry, I’ll follow you to the hospital. AMBO: Are you two husband and wife? DAN: She’s my ex-wife. That’s her husband in the ambulance. AMBO: Oh… SUMMER BAY HOUSE-LIVING AREA-NIGHT [Chris, Drew and Cassie are watching the television] CHRIS: I wonder how Mister Stewart’s going? DREW: I hope he’s ok, it sounded serious. CHRIS: It looked serious when mum and I found him just lying there. [Cassie looks upset] Didn’t you hear him or something Cassie? [Cassie stares into space] Cassie? CASSIE: Sorry? CHRIS: Mister Stewart… Didn’t you hear him call out or anything. CASSIE: No… I had my stereo on… Couldn’t hear a thing. I wish I did though, if he’s dead it will be all my fault. DREW: Hey, no it wont. [There’s a knock at the door, it’s Jesse] JESSE: Sally? DREW: Who are you? JESSE: I’m, I’m Jesse mate… Who are you? DREW: Drew… CASSIE: Jesse, what are you doing here? [They share a hug] I can’t believe you’re ok. JESSE: I’m fine thanks… Is Sally home? CASSIE: No, she’s at the hospital. JESSE: Hospital? CASSIE: Mister Stewart has had a heart attack. JESSE: What!? THE HOSPITAL-EMERGENCY-NIGHT [Alf is now hooked up to machines. The time is now 12:45. Sally, Pippa, Martha and Ric are in the room Rachel walks in] RACHEL: How’s he doing? RIC: He’s doing ok… SALLY: What did the police want Rachel? RACHEL: Just a statement with what happened back at the house with Kim. [Rachel and Martha look at each other. [Julie runs in] JULIE: I’m sorry Rachel, but we need you. RACHEL: What’s wrong? JULIE: An ambulance has just pulled up from the Vale mansion. SALLY: What? Amanda’s? RACHEL: Um, sure. [Rachel runs out] SALLY: What- What’s happened at Amanda’s? [Rachel runs out as Macca is being brought in by the ambo’s, with Dan coming from behind] RACHEL: Dan!? What happened? What’s going on? [Looking at Macca] AMBO: He’s been shot, he’s lost a lot of blood, we need to give him a blood transfusion. RACHEL: How long has he been like that for? DAN: I don’t know, just under half an hour? [sally and Martha come out, they notice Macca] MARTHA: Macca!? [Martha runs towards Macca] What happened? What’s going on? JULIE: He’s been shot, we need to give him a blood transfusion. Take him into room six, that was cleared an hour ago. [The ambo’s move Macca away] MARTHA: Who would shoot Macca? [Amanda runs in, Dan and Amanda look at each other] What happened? [Looking at Dan and Amanda] AMANDA: It was an accident- MARTHA: You did this too him? SALLY: Martha- AMANDA: I didn’t know how to stop it, he was going to kill Dan! MARTHA: So you shot him? AMANDA: I didn’t know what I was doing, everything happened so fast! MARTHA: But couldn’t you think Amanda!? Couldn’t you think before you act!? DAN: Martha, just calm down- MARTHA: Don’t tell me to calm down! My brother has been shot! He could die! [Martha begins to cry, Jack runs in] JACK: Hey I heard about Kim… [Jack looks at everyone] What’s going on? THE BEACH HOUSE-LIVING AREA-NIGHT [Josie and Tasha are still on the lounge] JOSIE: Are you going to try and do something to keep Robbie? TASHA: No use fighting anymore… If he doesn’t remember or love me… What’s the use? [someone knocks on the door. Tasha goes to open it up] Jesse? JESSE: Hey Tash. TASHA: Oh my god! [Tasha gives him a hug. Josie watches] How are you? JESSE: Ok I guess for a criminal on the run. [Jesse says smiling] Hey Josie. JOSIE: Jesse… Hi. TASHA: Um I think I should go bed, long day and all. [Tasha smiles and walks off] JOSIE: Um Tasha- TASHA: By Josie. [Josie and Jesse look at each other and laugh] JESSE: What are you doing back in town? [Jesse says with a smile] THE HOSPITAL-EMERGENCY-NIGHT [Amanda and Dan are sitting on chairs] DAN: I can’t believe this whole day. [Amanda laughs] AMANDA: I know what you mean… Dan… About before- DAN: Amanda don’t- AMANDA: Dan, listen. I’m sorry for just throwing all that on you after what just happened… And I’m sorry for the way I reacted. DAN: Sorry? [Dan laughs] No need to be… What we did was… It was wrong, because of my situation with Leah… But situations like them could be changed. [Amanda looks confused] AMANDA: What? DAN: I still love you too Amanda… Always have in some part of my heart. AMANDA: But… Leah? DAN: I love Leah too… But there’s always just been some part of me that has loved you too. [Amanda smiles, then Dan] AMANDA: So, what do you want to do about it? THE BEACH HOUSE-LIVING AREA-NIGHT [Jesse and Josie sit down on the lounge] JESSE: So what are you doing back here? Why did you come back from the city? JOSIE: It just felt different from Summer Bay… I only lived here for a short period of time, but it was a huge chunk of my life. I’ve missed the beach, the sunsets… You… JESSE: You’ve missed me? [Jesse laughs] JOSIE: Yeah… I know this sounds crazy but you’re one of the reasons why I came back. JESSE: Sorry? JOSIE: I love you Jesse… I want to be with you- JESSE: Josie, we know that us would never work. Especially with what happened with Mark. JOSIE: But that was in the past… This is the present… Can’t we change what was? [They stare at each other] Please? THE HOSPITAL-A ROOM-NIGHT [Amanda and Dan walk into an empty room] DAN: So where do we go from here? AMANDA: What do you mean? DAN: Well we’ve both expressed what we mean to each other… What are we going to do about it? [Amanda smiles and kisses Dan. The look at each other and smile] THE BEACH HOUSE-LIVING AREA-NIGHT [Josie moves closer to Jesse] JESSE: You hurt me so much Josie, you have no idea- JOSIE: Yes, yes I do. I’m sorry Jesse… I’m sorry. [They stare at each other, Jesse pulls in for a kiss, they just continue on kissing] THE HOSPITAL-EMERGENCY-NIGHT [Macca’s heart rate begins to go down] DOCTOR GREEN: Ok, we’re losing him! Charge to two hundred. JULIE: Charged. DOCTOR GREEN: Clear! THE HOSPITAL-A ROOM-NIGHT [Amanda and Dan move towards the bed as they kiss] DAN: We’re going to get caught Amanda! AMANDA: Shh. [Amanda kisses Dan, she goes on top] THE BEACH HOUSE-LIVING AREA-NIGHT [Jesse goes on top of Josie as they continue to make out] JOSIE: You have no idea how long I’ve wanted this. [Jesse smiles and they kiss] THE HOSPITAL-EMERGENCY-NIGHT [Martha runs in] MARTHA: What’s going on? Is he ok? JULIE: Martha, could you wait outside please. MARTHA: No, I want to be with my brother! DOCTOR GREEN: Clear! [Macca’s heart rate stays down] THE HOSPITAL-A ROOM-NIGHT [Amanda and Dan are continuing to make out] DAN: I can’t. I can’t do this. AMANDA: Why not? DAN: Leah, Amanda… I can’t do this while she’s away. AMANDA: Dan, please! DAN: I’m sorry Amanda! THE BEACH HOUSE-LIVING AREA-NIGHT [Jesse pulls away] JESSE: No, no, no! What am I doing? JOSIE: What’s wrong? JESSE: You! Us! This whole thing, it’s wrong. It should never of happened! [Jesse runs off] JOSIE: Jesse! Jesse, wait! [Josie looks heaps upset] THE HOSPITAL-EMERGENCY-NIGHT DOCTOR GREEN: Charge to three sixty! [Julie charges it up] Clear! [Nothing has improved. Doctor Green sighs and looks at Martha] MARTHA: Don’t you dare say those words. DOCTOR GREEN: Time of death, twelve fifty four am. MARTHA: No, no, no, no! [Martha runs up to Macca and hugs him as she begins to cry] No! DOCTOR GREEN: I’m so sorry Martha. THE HOSPITAL-A ROOM-NIGHT [Dan goes to walk out] AMANDA: Dan! Please! [Rice and Fitzy open the door] FITZY: Amanda Vale. AMANDA: Yes? FITZY: You’re under arrest for the murder of Michael McKenzie.
